Low-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma （LGMS） is a rare, malignant tumor with myofibroblastic differentiation. Despite it being classified as a distinct entity by the World Health Organization, a few cases were reported in the oral and maxillofacial region. Here, a LGMS developed on the palate of a 73-year-old man who presented with a 1-cm tumor on the posterior border of the palate. Based on the histological and immunohistochemical features, a diagnosis of LGMS was established. The tumor was resected, and no recurrence was observed over 2 years. Although the tongue is the most preferred site for LGMS, it may occur in any region of the oral cavity.

Grain growth,a competitive growth of crystal grains accompanied by curvature-driven boundary migration,is one of the most fundamental phenomena in the context of metallurgy and other scientific ***,the true picture of grain growth is still controversial,even for the simplest(or‘ideal’)*** problem can be addressed only by large-scale numerical ***,we analyze ideal grain growth via ultra-large-scale phase-field simulations on a supercomputer for elucidating the corresponding authentic statistical *** performed simulations are more than ten times larger in time and space than the ones previously considered as the largest;this computational scale gives a strong indication of the achievement of true steady-state growth with statistically sufficient number of ***,we provide a comprehensive theoretical description of ideal grain growth behaviors correctly quantified by the present *** findings provide conclusive knowledge on ideal grain growth,establishing a platform for studying more realistic growth processes.

AIM： To perform a long culture passage of H pylori without serum, taking into account its cytotoxicity and the presence of the probable new cytotoxic factor. METHODS： One sample of H pylon 60190 （ATCC 49503） was grown on Brain Heart Infusion （BHI） agar containing 0.5% 2,6-di-O-methyl-β-cyclodextrin without any serum, being passaged 70-100 times every 3-4 d for approximately 2 h, while another sample of H pylori contained 70 mL/L fetal calf serum without 2,6-di-O- methyl-β-cyclodextrin. Their supernatant and extract after 16 h in culture were evaluated for changes in cell morphology and for cell viability using HeLa cells. Furthermore, the characteristics of the probable cytotoxic factor in the extract were examined on partial purification studies and its oytotoxicity was evaluated in various human cells. RESULTS： The supernatant and the extract of the bacterium grown on serum-free medium had strong cytotoxicity compared with those grown on serumcontaining medium. They irreversibly damaged HeLa cells without vacuolation that was altogether different from that of the bacterium when grown with serum. Their cytotoxicity was easily measured by cell viability assay. The probable cytotoxic factor partially purified and detected by chromatography had characteristics difference from that of vacuolating toxin and a broad cytotoxicity toward various cell lines. CONCLUSION： Serum-free long culture method of H pylorl makes its supernatant and its extract cytotoxic enough to be easily measured by cell viability assay. The probable cytotoxic factor has a unique characteristic and might be a new cytotoxin.

An optimal design problem of local buffer allocation in the FMS is discussed in order to maximize a reward earned from processed jobs at all workstations. Structural properties of the optimal design problem are analyzed for the model with two job routing policies. Based on these properties, approaches to optimal solutions are given.

Poor corrosion resistance is a serious drawback of Mg alloys, restricting their practical applications. Coating is one of the effective techniques for improvement in the poor corrosion resistance. In this paper, the coating processes for Mg alloys so far developed are reviewed. Our previous studies suggested that redox reaction proceeded separately on specific exposed crystal faces of TiO2 nanoparticles. Site-selective deposition of metal or metal oxide on TiO2 specific exposed crystal faces successfully proceeded using the unique reactivity properties on the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles under photoexcitation. A remarkable improvement ofphotocatalytic activity of shape- controlled brookite and rutile TiO2 nanorods with modification of Fe^3＋ compounds was observed under visible light. Crystal face-selective metal compound modification on exposed crystal faces of TiO2 nanorods with brookite and futile phases was successfully prepared. Brookite and rutile TiO2 nanorods prepared by site-selective modification with metal compounds should be ideal visible-light responsive TiO2 photocatalysts because of the remarkable suppression of back electron transfer from TiO2 to oxidized metal com- pounds on the surface of the TiO2 nanorod with a brookite or rutile phase. In this paper, the development of exposed crystal face-controlled TiO2 nanorods with rutile and brookite phases was described. The obtained rutile and brookite TiO2 nanorod, showing remarkably high activity for degra- dation of organic compounds compared with the photocatalytic activities of anatase fine particles （ST-01）, is one of the most active commercially available photocatalysts for environmental cleanup in Japan. The technology of visiblelight responsive treatment for morphology-controlled rutile and brookite TiO2 nanorods by crystal face-selective modification of Fe^3＋ compounds was also discussed in this paper. The Fe^3＋ compound-modified rutile and brookite TiO2 nanorods show much higher activity than conventional visible-light responsive N-doped TiO2, which is commercially available in Japan.
