Dramatical enhancement of circular dichroism in chiral hybrid perovskites via carboxylic hydrogen bond engineering

Chiral hybrid perovskites （CHPs） have been regarded as promising candidates for developing chiroptoelectronics ***,circular dichroism （CD）,as one of the most important characteristics to evaluate the chiroptical activity,remains at a comparatively low level in CHPs compared to other chiral materials,which hinders the successful applications of CHPs in stateof-the-art ***,exploring new methods for enhancing CD in CHPs is urgently needed and remains ***,enhanced CD response has been successfully realized via constructing carboxylic hydrogen bonding in chiralachiral mixed cations perovskites （R/S-PPA）2（ABA）PbBr5（2R/2S）(PPA=1-phenylpropylamine,ABA=4-aminobutyric acid).Compared with the prototype （R/S-PPA）PbBr3（1R/1S）,2R/2S provide intimate connections between organic units and inorganic parts via carboxylic hydrogen bonding N–H···O bridge,contributing new chirality transfer paths.A larger inorganic skeletons’helicity in 2R/2S predicts a high degree of chirality ***,2R/2S exhibit significantly enhanced CD response with an anisotropy factor amplified by an order of ***,bright blue circularly polarized luminescence applications are achieved in 2R/*** work systematically investigates the correlation between CD and hydrogen bonding interaction in CHPs,meanwhile providing a new avenue to develop the application potential of chiral materials in chiroptoelectronics.

Recent urban transformations have led to critical reflections on the blighted urban infrastruc-tures and called for re-stimulating vital urban ***,the metro has been recognized as the backbone infrastructure for urban mobility and the associated economy *** date,limited research has been devoted to investigating the relationship between metro vitality and built environment in mega-cities *** paper presents a multisource urban data-driven approach to quantify the metro vibrancy and its association with the underlying built *** smart card data is processed to extract metro ridership,which denotes the vibrancy around the metro station in physical *** media check-ins are crawled to measure the vitality of metros in virtual *** physical and virtual vibrancy are integrated into a holistic metro vibrancy metric using an entropy-based weighting *** built environment characteristics,including land use,transportation and buildings are modeled as independent *** significant influences of built environ-mental factors on the metro vibrancy are unraveled using the ordinary least square regression and the spatial lag *** experiments conducted in Shenzhen,Singapore and London,this study comes up with a conclusion that spatial distributions of metro vibrancy metrics in three cities are spatially *** regression analysis suggests that in all the three cities,more affluent urban areas tend to have higher metro virbrancy,while the road density,land use and buildings tend to impact metro vibrancy in only one or two *** results demonstrate the relationship between the metro vibrancy and built environment is affected by complex urban *** findings help us to understand metro vibrancy thus make proper policy to re-stimulate the important metro infrastructure in the future.

Synthesis, Structure and Photophysical Properties of Silole-Oxadiazole Copolymers

A new conjugated copolymer （PTST-DyOXD） derived from 1,1-dimethyl-3,4-diphenyl-2,5-bis（5-bromo-2- thienyl）-silole （TST） and 2,5-bis（4-ethynylphenyl）-l,3,4-oxadiazole （DyOXD） was synthesized by Pd（0）-catalyzed Sonogashira coupling reaction. For comparison, another copolymer without acetenyl group （PTST-OXD） was also synthesized by Pd（0）-catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction. Chemical structures and optoelectronic properties of the copolymers were characterized by IH NMR, 13C NMR, IR, UV-vis absorption, photoluminescence and cyclic voltammetry. The number-average molecular weight （Mn） is 4010 Da for PTST-DyOXD and 3890 Da for PTST-OXD, respectively. The thermogravimetric analysis （TGA） measurements show that they have good thermal stability with decomposition temperature at 312 and 318 ~C, respectively. The optical band gap is 2.21 eV for PTST-DyOXD and 2.10 eV for PTST-OXD based on the absorption onset. CV analysis revealed the LUMO level of PTST-DyOXD is -3.04 eV, lower than that of PTST-OXD （about -2.89 eV）, which is attributed to the introduction of acetylene group in PTST-DyOXD, increasing the system of the conjugate chain length.

Structural insight into mechanisms for dynamic regulation of PKM2

Pyruvate kinase isoform M2 （PKM2） converts phospho- enolpyruvate （PEP） to pyruvate and plays an important role in cancer metabolism. Here, we show that post- translational modifications and a patient-derived muta- tion regulate pyruvate kinase activity of PKM2 through modulating the conformation of the PKM2 tetramer. We determined crystal structures of human PKM2 mutants and proposed a ＂seesaw＂ model to illustrate confor- mational changes between an inactive T-state and an active R-state tetramers of PKM2. Biochemical and structural analyses demonstrate that PKM2^Y105E （phos- phorylation mimic of Y105） decreases pyruvate kinase activity by inhibiting FBP （fructose 1,6-bisphosphate）- induced R-state formation, and PKM2K^3305Q （acetylation mimic of K305） abolishes the activity by hindering tet- ramer formation. K422R, a patient-derived mutation of PKM2, favors a stable, inactive T-state tetramer because of strong intermolecular interactions. Our study reveals the mechanism for dynamic regulation of PKM2 by post- translational modifications and a patient-derived muta- tion and provides a structural basis for further investi- gation of other modifications and mutations of PKM2 yet to be discovered.

Inter-hour direct normal irradiance forecast with multiple data types and time-series

Boosted by a strong solar power market,the electricity grid is exposed to risk under an increasing share of fluctuant solar *** increase the stability of the electricity grid,an accurate solar power forecast is needed to evaluate such *** terms of forecast,solar irradiance is the key factor of solar power generation,which is affected by atmospheric conditions,including surface meteorological variables and column integrated *** variables involve multiple numerical timeseries and ***,few studies have focused on the processing method of multiple data types in an interhour direct normal irradiance(DNI)*** this study,a framework for predicting the DNI for a 10-min time horizon was developed,which included the nondimensionalization of multiple data types and time-series,development of a forecast model,and transformation of the *** atmospheric variables were considered in the forecast framework,including the historical DNI,wind speed and direction,relative humidity time-series,and ground-based cloud *** were conducted to evaluate the performance of the forecast *** experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method performs well with a normalized mean bias error of 0.41%and a normalized root mean square error(n RMSE)of20.53%,and outperforms the persistent model with an improvement of 34%in the nRMSE.

Evaluating the impact of sulfamethoxazole on hydrogen production during dark anaerobic sludge fermentation

Dose-dependent and combined effects of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist MK-801 and nitric oxide synthase inhibitor nitro-L-arginine on the survival of retinal ganglion cells in adult hamsters

This study investigated the effects of daily intraperitoneal injections of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist MK-801 and nitric oxide synthase inhibitor nitro-L-arginine （L-NA） on the survival of retinal ganglion cells （RGCs） at 1 and 2 weeks after unilateral optic nerve transection in adult hamsters. The left optic nerves of all animals were transected intraorbitally 1 mm from the optic disc and RGCs were retrogradely labeled with Fluorogold before they received different daily dosages of single MK-801 or L-NA as well as daily combinational treatments of these two chemicals. All experimental and control animals survived for 1 or 2 weeks after optic nerve transection. Our results revealed that the mean numbers of surviving RGCs increased and then decreased when the dosage of MK-801 （1.0, 3.0 and 4.5 mg/kg） and L-NA （1.5, 3.0, 4.5 and 6.0 mg/kg） increased at both 1 and 2 weeks survival time points. Daily combinational use of 1.0 mg/kg MK-801 and 1.5 mg/kg L-NA lead to a highest RGC number that was even higher than the sum of the RGC numbers in 1.0 mg/kg MK-801 and 1.5 mg/kg L-NA subgroups at 2 weeks. These findings indicated that both MK-801 and L-NA can protect axotomized RGCs in a dose-dependent manner and combinational treatment of these chemicals possesses a potentiative and protective effect.

Synoptic-scale potential vorticity intrusion over northeastern China during winter and its influence on surface air temperature

A regional potential vorticity(PV)intrusion(PVI)(RPVI)index,defined as the sum of the numbers of grids containing PVI within a certain area for each day,is used to reflect the day-to-day PVI variability over northeastern China during winter from 1979 to *** synoptic-scale PVI variations and resultant surface air temperature(SAT)anomalies are identified by comparing the high and low RPVI index *** high(low)RPVI cases,significantly strong positive(negative)PV anomalies are found in the stratospheric midlatitudes,which intrude downward mostly within 90°–110°E into the upper troposphere to reach around 300 hPa and extend eastward to the east of 120°E,forcing an anomalous cyclonic(anticyclonic)circulation in the middle and lower troposphere over East Asia,with the anomalous northerlies(southerlies)of the forced lower-tropospheric cyclone(anticyclone)leading to significant negative(positive)SAT anomalies of less(greater)than-0.9°C(0.9°C),especially over northeastern *** the stratosphere,the positive(negative)midlatitude PV anomalies over northern China are actually associated with a weakening(strengthening)of the polar vortex over the Eurasian continent for the high(low)RPVI cases,resulting mostly from positive(negative)barotropic vorticity anomalies associated with static stability due to the meridional shear of anomalous zonal winds on the southern side of the anomalous Eurasian anticyclone(cyclone).

Enhanced anaerobic digestion of waste activated sludge with periodate-based pretreatment

The potential of periodate(PI)in sludge anaerobic digestion is not tapped,although it has recently attracted great research interest in organic contaminants removal and pathogens inactivation in wastewater *** is the first work to demonstrate significant improvement in methane generation from waste activated sludge(WAS)with PI pretreatment and to provide underlying *** methane potential tests indicated that methane yield enhanced from 100.2 to 146.3 L per kg VS(VS,volatile solids)with PI dosages from 0 to 100 mg per g TS(TS,total solids).Electron spin resonance showed PI could be activated without extra activator addition,which might be attributed to the native transition metals(e.g.,Fe2t)in WAS,thereby generating hydroxyl radical(-OH),superoxide radicals(-O2-),and singlet oxygen(1O2).Further scavenging tests demonstrated all of them synergistically promoted WAS disintegration,and their contributions were in the order of-O2->-OH>1O2,leading to the release of substantial biodegradable substances(i.e.,proteins and polysaccharides)into the liquid phase for subsequent ***,fluorescence and ultraviolet spectroscopy analyses indicated the recalcitrant organics(especially lignocellulose and humus)could be degraded by reducing their aromaticity under oxidative stress of PI,thus readily for *** community analysis revealed some microorganisms participating in hydrolysis,acidogenesis,and acetoclastic methanogenesis were enriched after PI *** improved key enzyme activities and up-regulated metabolic pathways further provided direct evidence for enhanced methane *** research was expected to broaden the application scope of PI and provide more diverse pretreatment choices for energy recovery through anaerobic digestion.

Peracetic acid(PAA),known for its environmentally friendly properties as a oxidant and bactericide,is gaining prominence in decontamination and disinfection *** primary product of PAA oxidation is acetate that can serve as an electron acceptor(EA)for the biosynthesis of medium-chain fatty acids(MCFAs)via chain elongation(CE)***,PAA-based pretreatment is supposed to be beneficial for MCFAs production from anaerobic sludge fermentation,as it could enhance organic matter availability,suppress competing microorganisms and furnish EA by providing ***,such a hypothesis has rarely been *** we reveal that PAA-based pretreatment leads to significant exfoliation of extracellular polymeric substances(EPS)from sludge flocs and disruption of proteinic secondary structures,through inducing highly active free radicals and singlet *** production of MCFAs increases substantially to 11,265.6 mg COD L^(-1),while the undesired byproducts,specifically long-chain alcohols(LCAs),decrease to 723.5 mg COD L^(-1).Microbial activity tests further demonstrate that PAA pretreatment stimulates the CE process,attributed to the up-regulation of functional genes involved in fatty acid biosynthesis *** comprehensive findings provide insights into the effectiveness and mechanisms behind enhanced MCFAs production through PAA-based technology,advancing our understanding of sustainable resource recovery from sewage sludge.
