Experimental Investigation of Thermal Performance of Novel Finned Radiators for Automotive Cooling system

This research investigates innovative fin-type radiators for automobile engine cooling ***-channel and helical radiators,along with straight type,were analyzed for heat transfer characteristics under various *** uniqueness of this study is evident in the design of microchannel and helical *** helical radiators,the inner rod features 4/8 helical-shaped water galleries,while the outer tube frame with embedded fins remains *** contrast,the microchannel radiators have compact trapezoidal-shaped water galleries with separate fin ***,the novelty of the research is enhanced by the utilization of 3D printing technology in the manufacturing *** constant fin height analysis at varied water and air flow rate,Microchannel Water Air Radiator with fin height 10.5 mm(MCWAR10.5)depicted a higher heat transfer rate amongst the *** comparison to straight Water Air Radiator with fin height 9.5 mm(sWAR9.5),the heat transfer rate is 30.3%and 1.3 times ***,in constant fin surface area analysis,microchannel radiator(MCWAR3.2)illustrates lower heat dissipation than Helical radiator(HWAR138)but higher than HWAR134 and straight radiator(sWAR6).The examination of pumping loss indicated that the Micro-channel radiator outperformed helical radiators due to its lower pressure *** average pressure loss for Micro-channel radiators was 0.74 kPa,making it 1.2 times higher than that of a straight radiator(0.62 kPa),indicating a better trade-off.

Highly transparent anti-reflection coating enhances the underwater efficiency and stability of perovskite solar modules

Perovskite solar cells have shown great potential in the field of underwater solar cells due to their excellent optoelectronic properties;however,their underwater performance and stability still hinder their practical *** this research,a 1H,1H,2H,2H-heptadecafluorodecyl acrylate(HFDA)anti-reflection coating(ARC)was introduced as a high-transparent material for encapsulating perovskite solar modules(PsMs).Optical characterization results revealed that HFDA can effectively reduce reflection of light below 800 nm,aiding in the absorption of light within this wavelength range by underwater solar ***,a remarkable efficiency of 14.65%was achieved even at a water depth of 50 ***,the concentration of Pb^(2+)for HFDA-encapsulated film is significantly reduced from 186 to 16.5 ppb after being immersed in water for 347 ***,the encapsulated PsMs still remained above 80%of their initial efficiency after continuous underwater illumination for 400 ***,being exposed to air,the encapsulated PsMs maintained 94%of their original efficiency after 1000 h light *** highly transparent ARC shows great potentials in enhancing the stability of perovskite devices,applicable not only to underwater cells but also extendable to land-based photovoltaic devices.

The Role of Underlying Boundary Forcing in shaping the Recent Decadal Change of Persistent Anomalous Activity over the Ural Mountains

Observational analyses demonstrate that the Ural persistent positive height anomaly event(PAE) experienced a decadal increase around the year 2000, exhibiting a southward displacement afterward. These decadal variations are related to a large-scale circulation shift over the Eurasian Continent. The effects of underlying sea ice and sea surface temperature(ssT) anomalies on the Ural PAE and the related atmospheric circulation were explored by Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project(AMIP) experiments from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 and by sensitivity experiments using the Atmospheric General Circulation Model(AGCM). The AMIP experiment results suggest that the underlying sea ice and ssT anomalies play important roles. The individual contributions of sea ice loss in the Barents.kara seas and the ssT anomalies linked to the phase transition of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO) and Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO) are further investigated by AGCM sensitivity experiments isolating the respective *** sea ice decline in Barents.kara seas triggers an atmospheric wave train over the Eurasian mid-to-high latitudes with positive anomalies over the Urals, favoring the occurrence of Ural PAEs. The shift in the PDO to its negative phase triggers a wave train propagating downstream from the North Pacific. One positive anomaly lobe of the wave train is located over the Ural Mountains and increases the PAE there. The negative-to-positive transition of the AMO phase since the late-1990s causes positive 500-h Pa height anomalies south of the Ural Mountains, which promote a southward shift of Ural PAE.

Role of climatic variability in shaping intraspecific variation of thermal tolerance in Mediterranean water beetles

The climatic variability hypothesis(CVH)predicts that organisms in more thermally variable environments have wider thermal breadths and higher thermal plasticity than those from more stable ***,due to evolutionary trade-offs,taxa with greater absolute thermal limits may have little plasticity of such limits(trade-off hypothesis).The CVH assumes that climatic variability is the ultimate driver of thermal tolerance variation across latitudinal and altitudinal gradients,but average temperature also varies along such *** explored intraspecific variation of thermal tolerance in three typical Mediterranean saline water beetles(families Hydrophilidae and Dytiscidae).For each species,we compared two populations where the species coexist,with similar annual mean temperature but contrasting thermal variability(continental *** population).We estimated thermal limits of adults from each population,previously acclimated at 17,20,or 25℃.We found species-specific patterns but overall,our results agree with the CVH regarding thermal ranges,which were wider in the continental(more variable)*** the two hydrophilid species,this came at the cost of losing plasticity of the upper thermal limit in this population,supporting the trade-off hypothesis,but not in the dytiscid *** results support the role of local adaptation to thermal variability and trade-offs between basal tolerance and physiological plasticity in shaping thermal tolerance in aquatic ectotherms,but also suggest that intraspecific variation of thermal tolerance does not fit a general pattern among aquatic *** such intraspecific variation could lead to inaccurate predictions of the vulnerability of aquatic insects to global warming.

Global well-posedness for 2D inhomogeneous asymmetric fluids with large initial data

In this paper, by using time-weighted global estimates and the Lagrangian approach, we first investigate the global existence and uniqueness of the solution for the 2D inhomogeneous incompressible asymmetric fluids with the initial(angular) velocity being located in sub-critical sobolev spaces H^(s)(R^(2))(0ssity being bounded from above and below by some positive constants. The global unique solvability of the 2D incompressible inhomogeneous asymmetric fluids with the initial data in the critical Besov space(u_(0), w_(0))∈˙B^(0)_(2,1)(R^(2))andρ^(−1)−1∈˙B^(ε)_(2/ε),1(R^(2))is established. In particular, the uniqueness of the solution is also obtained without any more regularity assumptions on the initial density which is an improvement on the recent result of Abidi and Gui(2021) for the 2D inhomogeneous incompressible Navierstokes system.

Millet agriculture,which originated in northern China,alongside rice agriculture,have nurtured the Chinese *** manuring practices likely promoted and maintained sustainable millet agricultural production in the loess area of northern ***,ongoing controversy exists regarding the indicators of prehistoric manuring intensity of foxtail millet(setaria italica)and common millet(Panicum miliaceum).Here,we present the results of pot and field fertilization experiments on two millet *** findings suggest that manuring can significantly increase the δ^(15)N values of foxtail millet,and its δ^(15)N values increase with increasing manuring *** δ^(15)N values of foxtail millet leaves are systematically greater than those of grains by approximately 1.6‰.Manuring could have a long-term residual impact on increasing the δ^(15)N values of soil and millet *** with previous crop fertilization experiment results,we propose that the impact of manuring on the δ^(15)N values of non-nitrogen-fixing crops is roughly *** δ^(15)N value and amount of manure are key factors determining the extent of change in plant δ^(15)N *** millet grain δ^(15)N values can serve as reliable indicators of manuring ***,we provide an interpretive framework for assessing the correlation between manuring levels and the δ^(15)N values of archaeological millet *** δ^(15)N values of ancient millet grains suggest widespread and intensive manuring practices in prehistoric millet agriculture in northern China,spanning from the early Yangshao period to the Longshan period.

Optimizing mechanical properties of HIPs fabricated with low-cost desktop 3D printers:investigating the impact of process parameters

Recently,low-cost desktop three-dimensional(3D)printers,employing the fused deposition modeling(FDM)technique,have gained widespread ***,most users cannot test the strength of printed parts,and little information is available about the mechanical properties of printed high-impact polystyrene(HIPs)parts using desktop 3D *** this study,the user-adjustable parameters of desktop 3D printers,such as crisscross raster orientation,layer thickness,and infill density,were *** experimental plans were designed using the Box-Behnken method,and tensile,3-point bending,and compression tests were carried out to determine the mechanical responses of the printed *** prediction models of the process parameters were regressed to produce the optimal combination of process *** experimental results showcase that the crisscross raster orientation has significant effects on the flexural and compression strengths,but not on the tensile *** an increase in the layer thickness,the tensile,flexural,and compression strengths first decreased and then increased,reaching their minimum values at approximately 0.16 mm layer *** addition,they all increased with an increase of infill *** was demonstrated that when the raster orientation,layer thickness,and infill density were 13.08°/–76.92°,0.09 mm,and 80%,respectively,the comprehensive mechanical properties of the printed HIPs were *** results can help end-users of desktop 3D printers understand the effects of process parameters on the mechanical properties,and offer practical suggestions for setting proper printing parameters for fabricating HIPs parts.

Rapid prediction of damaged ship roll motion responses in beam waves based on stacking algorithm

Accurate modeling for highly non-linear coupling of a damaged ship with liquid sloshing in waves is still of considerable interest within the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)and AI *** paper describes a data-driven stacking algorithm for fast prediction of roll motion response amplitudes in beam waves by constructing a hydrodynamics model of a damaged ship based on the dynamic overlapping grid CFD *** general idea is to optimize various parameters varying with four types of classical base models like multi-layer perception,support vector regression,random forest,and hist gradient boosting *** offers several attractive properties in terms of accuracy and efficiency by choosing the standard DTMB 5415 model with double damaged compartments for *** is clearly demonstrated that the predicted response amplitude operator(RAO)in the regular beam waves agrees well with the experimental data available,which verifies the accuracy of the established damaged ship hydrodynamics *** high-quality CFD samples,therefore,implementation of the designed stacking algorithm with its optimal combination can predict the damaged ship roll motion amplitudes effectively and accurately(e.g.,the coefficient of determination 0.9926,the average absolute error 0.0955 and CPU 3s),by comparison of four types of typical base models and their various ***,the established stacking algorithm provides one potential that can break through problems involving the time-consuming and low efficiency for large-scale lengthy CFD simulations.
