Colorectal carcinoma(CRC)is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide,and up to 50%of patients with CRC develop colorectal liver metastases(CRLm).For these patients,surgical resection remains the only opportunity for cure and long-term *** the past few decades,outcomes of patients with metastatic CRC have improved significantly due to advances in systemic therapy,as well as improvements in operative technique and perioperative *** in the modern era of oxaliplatin-and irinotecancontaining regimens has been augmented by the introduction of targeted biologics and immunotherapeutic *** increasing efficacy of contemporary systemic therapies has led to an expansion in the proportion of patients eligible for curative-intent ***,the use of neoadjuvant strategies is becoming progressively more *** patients with CRLm,the primary advantage of neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NCT)is the potential to down-stage metastatic disease in order to facilitate hepatic *** the other hand,the routine use of NCT for patients with resectable metastases remains controversial,especially given the potential risk of inducing chemotherapy-associated liver injury prior to *** guidelines recommend upfront surgery in patients with initially resectable disease and low operative risk,reserving NCT for patients with borderline resectable or unresectable disease and high operative *** undergoing NCT require close monitoring for tumor response and conversion of CRLm to *** light of the growing number of treatment options available to patients with metastatic CRC,it is generally agreed that these patients are best served at tertiary centers with an expert multidisciplinary team.

Granulite Facies metamorphic Age and Tectonic Implications of BIFs from the Kongling Group in the Northern Huangling Anticline

We report preliminary results of a geochemical study on banded iron formations （BIFs） in the Zhaojiayangpo （赵家阳坡） area from the Kongling （崆岭） Group in the northern Huangling （黄陵） anticline, on the northern margin of the Yangtze craton. The CL （cathodoluminescence） images of zircons mostly have sector zoning, fir-tree zoning and patched zoning, and a few show core-rim tex-tures with rims having patched zoning. The calculated formation temperatures using the Ti-in-zircon thermometer are 660-808 ℃ （714 ℃C in aver-age）, all indicating that the BIFs underwent granulite facies metamorphism. The age of zir-cons with granulite facies metamorphism is 1 990±14 ma by LA-ICP-mS U-Pb dating, indi-cating that there was a significant granulite fa-cies tectonothermal event in the northern Huangling anticline in the Paleoproterozoic, which may be related with tectonic thermal events of the metamorphism caused by the as-sembly of the Columbia supercontinent with South China. moreover, the REE pattern ischaracterized by depletion in LREE while relatively flat in HREE, LaN/YbN=0.26, with a positive Eu anomaly （Eu/Eu^＊---1.59）, which reveals its hydrothermal sedimentation origin and it may have formed in the environment of submarine exhalation.

Accurately quantifying rates of soil erosion requires capturing both the volumetric nature of the visible,convergent fluvial pathways(also known as rills)and the subtle nature of the less-visible,diffuse pathways(interrill areas).The aim of this study was to use Rare Earth Oxide(REO)tracers and Structure-from-motion(Sfm)photogrammetry to elucidate retrospective information about soil erosion rates and sediment sources during different soil erosion conditions,within a controlled laboratory *** experimental conditions created erosion events consistent with diffuse and convergent erosion *** tracers allowed the sediment transport distances of over 2 m to be described,and helped resolved the relative contribution of diffuse and convergent soil erosion;interrill areas were also iden-tified as a significant sediment sources soil loss under convergent erosion *** the potential for Sfm photogrammetry to resolve sub-millimetre elevations changes was demonstrated,under some conditions non-erosional changes in surface elevation,such as compaction,exceeded volumes of soil loss via diffuse *** discrepancies between Sfm Photogrammetry calculations and REO tagged sediment export were beneficial,identifying that during soil erosion events sediment in both aggregate and particle form is deposited within the convergent features,even when the rill extended the full length of the soil *** combination of Sfm photogrammetry and REO tracers has provided a novel platform for building a spatial understanding of patterns of soil loss and source apportionment between rill and interrill erosion.

Documentation of the Sirjan Orocline in the southeast Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone, Iran

At the southeastern part of the SanandajSirjan Zone of Iran, a group of structural elements outline a large-scale arc curvature around a vertical axis. This curvature comprises several elongated structural elements and their dividing faults, axialfold traces, layering, and foliation. The most frequent lithological units include Paleozoic metamorphic rocks, mesozoic-Paleogene sedimentary rocks, and mesozoic magmatic-ophiolitic complex disposed in several anticlines and synclines, forming a horseshoeshaped structure with a 240-km arc length and a 90-km wavelength. We name this structure the Sirjan Orocline, and characterize this structure here through field observations and satellite image analyses. The Sirjan Orocline formed during the late EoceneOligocene related to the most significant deformation event after regional metamorphism. The final form of this structural arc is affected by a younger tectonic event that compressed and transected this structure.

The olivine-gabbroic rocks located at the Huangiing anticline within the Yangtze Craton are dated at circa 857-854 ma by LA-ICP-mS method. The rocks belong to the sub-alkaline series and consist of pyroxene （35%-40%）, plagioclase （40% -45%）, olivine （8%-10%） and spinel （3%-5%）. Olivine has Fo values of 73-83 that is classified as chrysolite. Pyroxene has relative low contents of FeO （6.60 wt.%-8.23 wt.%） but high CaO （20.23 wt.%-21.25 wt.%） contents, however, plagioclase has high A1203 （31.78 wt.%o-32.37 wt.%）, CaO （16.08 wt.%-16.25 wt.%） and An （79-80） values, but low Na20 contents （1.95 wt.%-2.11 wt.%）. Spinel are magnesioferrite with characteristics of high contents of mgO （13.65 wt.%- 13.68 wt.%）, FeO （23.27 wt.%-23.40 wt.%） and A1203 （62.43 wt.%-62.74 wt.%）. Chemical compositions of these minerals are similar to those of gabbro rocks that were formed in the post-orogeny environment. The olivine-gabbro samples have negative zircon eHf values （-16.57±0.47） that resemble the mafic rocks in the same region, indicating that they are derived from the extremely enriched mantle source. On the compilation of documented Neoproterozoic mafic rocks in the Yangtze Craton, it is proposed that the mantle in the northern Yangtze Craton has experienced different degrees enrichment during the Neoproterozoic.

Planation surfaces （PS） play a major role in reconstruction of the evolutionary history of landforms in local areas. Thus, objective and consistent mapping of planation surfaces from remotely sensed data （e.g., satellite imagery, digital elevation models （DEms）） is paramount for interpreting the geomorphological evolution. Due to the lack of dated sedimentary covers and the difficulties of com-prehensive field work, the number and age of planation surfaces in the Southwest Hubei （湖北） Prov-ince of China are still controversial. In order to map the PS in the study area, four data visualization techniques including ETm＋ false color composite, grey-scale DEm, shaded relief model （SRm） and painted relief model （P m） were examined. It is found that the PRm is the most optimal technique for planation surface mapping. The study area was successfully mapped by visual interpretation of a PRm derived from ASTER GDEm. The mapped PS was divided into five classes in terms of elevation ac-cording to previous studies, varying from 1 700-2 000 （PS1）, 1 300-1 500 （PS2）, 1 000-1 200 （PS3）, 800-900 （PS4） to 500-600 （PS5） m. The results were partially compared with the published works. It is revealed that this method of mapping enjoys a higher accuracy and can reduce the time and ef- fort required in the traditional mapping to a large extent. The results also demonstrated that the PRm is an effective tool for geomorphological fea-ture mapping with considerable accuracy. The pre- liminary results can serve to facilitate locating rep-resentative samples for the planation surfaces dating, thus to determine the ages of PS in the study areas.

We undertook a chemical genetics screen to identify chemical inhibitors of brassinosteroid （BR） action. From a chemical library of 10,000 small molecules, one compound was found to inhibit hypocotyl length and activate the expression of a BR-repressed reporter gene （CPD：：GUS） in Arabidopsis, and it was named brassinopride （BRP）. These effects of BRP could be reversed by co-treatment with brassinolide, suggesting that BRP either directly or indirectly inhibits BR biosynthesis. Interestingly, the compound causes exaggerated apical hooks, similar to that caused by ethylene treatment. The BRP-induced apical hook phenotype can be blocked by a chemical inhibitor of ethylene perception or an ethylene-insensitive mutant, suggesting that, in addition to inhibiting BR, BRP activates ethylene response. Analysis of BRP analogs provided clues about structural features important for its effects on two separate targets in the BR and ethylene pathways. Analyses of the responses of various BR and ethylene mutants to BRP, ethylene, and BR treatments revealed modes of cross-talk between ethylene and BR in dark-grown seedlings. Our results suggest that active downstream BR signaling, but not BR synthesis or a BR gradient, is required for ethylene-induced apical hook formation. The BRP-related compounds can be useful tools for manipulating plant growth and studying hormone interactions.
