Insight into the sorption and desorption pattern of pyrrolizidine alkaloids and their N-oxides in acidic tea(Camellia sinensis)plantation soils

Pyrrolizidine alkaloids(PAs)and their N-oxides(PANOs)are phytotoxins produced by various plant species and have been emerged as environmental *** sorption/desorption behaviors of PAs/PANOs in soil are crucial due to the horizontal transfer of these natural products from PA-producing plants to soil and subsequently absorbed by plant *** study firstly investigated the sorption/desorption behaviors of PAs/PANOs in tea plantation soils with distinct *** amounts for seneciphylline(Sp)and seneciphylline-N-oxide(SpNO)in three acidic soils ranged from 2.9 to 5.9μg/g and 1.7 to 2.8μg/g,*** percentages for Sp and SpNO were from 22.2%to 30.5%and 36.1%to 43.9%.In the mixed PAs/PANOs systems,stronger sorption of PAs over PANOs was occurred in tested ***,the Freundlich models more precisely described the sorption/desorption *** exchange capacity,sand content and total nitrogen were identified as major influencing factors by linear regression ***,the soils exhibiting higher sorption capacities for compounds with greater *** were more likely to migrate within soils and be absorbed by tea *** contributes to the understanding of environmental fate of PAs/PANOs in tea plantations and provides basic data and clues for the development of PAs/PANOs reduction technology.

Transforming growth factor-beta 1 enhances discharge activity of cortical neurons

Transforming growth factor-beta 1(TGF-β1)has been extensively studied for its pleiotropic effects on central nervous system *** neuroprotective or neurotoxic effects of TGF-β1 in specific brain areas may depend on the pathological process and cell types ***-gated sodium channels(VGSCs)are essential ion channels for the generation of action potentials in neurons,and are involved in various neuroexcitation-related ***,the effects of TGF-β1 on the functional properties of VGSCs and firing properties in cortical neurons remain *** this study,we investigated the effects of TGF-β1 on VGSC function and firing properties in primary cortical neurons from *** found that TGF-β1 increased VGSC current density in a dose-and time-dependent manner,which was attributable to the upregulation of Nav1.3 *** VGSC current density and Nav1.3 expression were significantly abolished by preincubation with inhibitors of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase(PD98059),p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(SB203580),and Jun NH2-terminal kinase 1/2 inhibitor(SP600125).Interestingly,TGF-β1 significantly increased the firing threshold of action potentials but did not change their firing rate in cortical *** findings suggest that TGF-β1 can increase Nav1.3 expression through activation of the ERK1/2-JNK-MAPK pathway,which leads to a decrease in the firing threshold of action potentials in cortical neurons under pathological ***,this contributes to the occurrence and progression of neuroexcitatory-related diseases of the central nervous system.

Post-rifting magmatism at the northern margin of the South China Sea:Evidenced by an ocean bottom seismometer experiment

Magmatism at continental margins is of great significance in understanding the continental *** present a twodimensional P-wave velocity model derived from an ocean bottom seismometer experiment,conducted across the middle northern continental margin of the South China Sea(SCS).The detailed velocity structures reveal significant heterogeneities extending from the continental shelf to the continent-ocean transition *** crust exhibits its greatest thickness below the continental shelf,measuring~23 km and gradually thins to~13 km at the distal ***,a narrow and distinct continent-ocean transition with only 40-km width is *** also observe a high-velocity layer within the transition zone,reaching thickness of up to 4 km,characterized by P-wave velocities ranging from 7.0 km/s to 7.6 km/s in the lower *** on the syn-rift melt generation using decompression melting model,we ascertain that syn-rift magmatism cannot fully account for the observed thick high-velocity *** integrating findings from previous geophysical and geochemical studies presenting extensive volcanic edifice on the seafloor at the northern margin,as well as ocean-island-basalt-type magmaticsamples in the SCS area,we propose that post-rifting magmatism associated with the Hainan Plume may have influenced theformation of the high-velocity lower crust within the transition zone and the northern margin of the SCS can thus be recognizedas magma-poor type margin.

Design and preparation of a sintered Nd-Y-Fe-B magnet with high magnetic properties via multi-main-phase process and subsequent grain boundary diffusion

A sintered Nd-Y-Fe-B magnet was designed and manufactured by the multi-main-phase *** distributed Y in the magnet decreases the adverse magnetic weakening effect of Y on the *** boundary diffusion process（GBDP） was conducted to further enhance the coercivity of the Nd-Y-Fe-B *** coercivity increases significantly from 884 to 1741 kA/m after GBDP with *** mechanism of the coercivity enhancement is discussed based on the microstructure *** simulation reveals that when the diffused Tb-rich shell thickness is lower than 12 nm the c-plane shell（perpendicular to the c-axis） is much more effective in enhancing the coercivity than the side plane shell（parallel to the c-axis）.But when the Tb-rich shell thickness is above12 nm the side plane shell contributes more to the coercivity *** results in this work can help to design and manufacture Nd-Fe-B magnets with low cost and high magnetic properties.

Photocatalytic overall pure water splitting is a promising method for generating green hydrogen energy under mild ***,this process is often hindered by sluggish electron-hole separation and *** address this,a step-scheme(S-scheme)B-doped N-deficient C_(3)N_(4)/O-doped C_(3)N_(5)(BN-C_(3)N_(4)/O-C_(3)N_(5))heterojunction with interfacial B-O bonds has been *** Pt and Co(OH)_(2) as co-catalysts,BN-C_(3)N_(4)/O-C_(3)N_(5) S-scheme heterojunction demonstrates significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity for overall pure water splitting under visible light,achieving H_(2) and O_(2) evolution rates of 40.12 and 19.62μmol/h,*** characterizations and experiments revealed the performance-enhancing effects of the enhanced built-in electric field and the interfacial B-O ***,the strengthened built-in electric field provides sufficient force for rapid interfacial electron ***,by reducing the transport energy barrier and transfer distance,the interfacial B-O bonds facilitate rapid recombination of electrons and holes with relatively low redox potential via the S-scheme charge-transfer route,leaving the high-potential electrons and holes available for H^(+)reduction and OH^(-)oxidation ***,the photocatalytic efficiency of BN-C_(3)N_(4)/O-C_(3)N_(5) S-scheme heterojunction was significantly improved,making it a promising approach for green hydrogen production through overall pure water splitting.

Locations around the equator provide unique habitats for microalgae presumably with exceptional *** develop microalga-derived product systems,we previously created a(sub)tropical microalgal *** this study,two Chlorella strains(MEM176 and MEM193),adaptive to typical tropical climate,were isolated from the *** production performance was evaluated where both strains showed a robust growth in high temperatures and light ***,the strains MEM176 and MEM193 produced 503.6-mg/(L·d)and 411.3-mg/(L·d)biomass,respectively,with high contents of *** commercial and nutritional values were emphasized by amino acid compositions(e.g.,proline,valine,and phenylalanine).Particularly,higher amounts of proline were revealed in MEM176(47.9 mg/g dry biomass(DW))and MEM193(47.9 and 59.2 mg/g DW)than available commercial *** with MEM193,MEM176 produced 129.7%more lipids in which unsaturated fatty acids(particularly linoleic acid andα-linolenic acid)account for 65%of the total ***,it is promising to explore the potential of these Chlorella strains as food additives via outdoor cultivation in tropical area,notably MEM176 that exhibits superiority as sources of essential amino acids and valuable fatty acids.

Different fates of Sb(Ⅲ)and Sb(V)during the formation of jarosite mediated by Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans

Secondary iron-sulfate minerals such as jarosite,which are easily formed in acid mine drainage,play an important role in controlling metal *** this work,the typical iron-oxidizing bacterium Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans ATCC 23270 was selected to synthesize jarosite in the presence of antimony ions,during which the solution behavior,synthetic product composition,and bacterial metabolism were *** results show that in the presence of Sb(V),Fe^(2+)was rapidly oxidized to Fe^(3+)by *** and Sb(V)had no obvious effect on the biooxidation of Fe^(2+)under the current experimental *** presence of Sb(Ⅲ)inhibited bacterial growth and Fe^(2+)*** the group with Sb(Ⅲ),products with amorphous phaseswere formed 72 hr later,whichwere mainly ferrous sulfate and pentavalent antimony oxide,and the amorphous precursor was finally transformed into a more stable crystal *** the group with Sb(V),the morphology and structure of jarosite were changed in comparison with those without *** biomineralization process was accompanied by the removal of 94%Sb(V)to form jarosite containing the Fe-Sb-O *** transcriptome analysis shows differential effects of Sb(Ⅲ)and Sb(V)on bacterial *** expression levels of functional genes related to cell components were much more downregulated for the group with Sb(Ⅲ)butmuch more regulated for that with Sb(V).Notably,cytochrome c and nitrogen fixation-relevant genes for the A.f_Fe^(2+)_Sb(Ⅲ)group were enhanced significantly,indicating their role in Sb(Ⅲ)*** study is of great value for the development of antimony pollution control and remediation technology.

MOF-derived Ni3Fe/Ni/NiFe2O4@C for enhanced hydrogen storage performance of MgH2

Magnesium hydride（MgH2） is an important material for hydrogen（H2） storage and transportation owing to its high capacity and ***,its intrinsic properties have considerably limited its industrial *** this study,the NiFe-800 catalyst as metal-organic framework（MOF） derivative was first utilized to promote the intrinsic properties of *** to pure MgH2,which releases1.24 wt% H2in 60 min at 275℃,the MgH2-10 NiFe-800 composite releases 5.85 wt% H2in the same *** at a lower temperature of 250℃,the MgH2-10 NiFe-800 composite releases 3.57 wt% H2,surpassing the performance of pure MgH2at 275℃.Correspondingly,while pure MgH2absorbs 2.08 wt% H2in60 min at 125℃,the MgH2-10 NiFe-800 composite absorbs 5.35 wt% H2in just 1 min,Remarkably,the MgH2-10 NiFe-800 composite absorbs 2.27 wt% H2in 60 min at 50℃ and 4.64 wt% H2at 75℃.This indicates that MgH2-10 NiFe-800 exhibits optimum performance with excellent kinetics at low ***,the capacity of the MgH2-10 NiFe-800 composite remains largely stable after ***,the Mg2Ni/Mg2NiH4acts as a "hydrogen pump",providing effective diffusion channels that enhance the kinetic process of the composite during ***,Fe0facilitates electron transfer and creates hydrogen diffusion channels and catalytic ***,carbon（C） effectively prevents particle agglomeration and maintains the cyclic stability of the ***,the synergistic effects of Mg2Ni/Mg2NiH4,Fe0,and C considerably improve the kinetic properties and cycling stability of *** work offers an effective and valuable approach to improving the hydrogen storage efficiency in the commercial application of MgH2.
