Investigating natural-inspired applications is a perennially appealing subject for scientists. the current increase in the speed of natural-origin structure growth may be linked to their superior mechanical properties and environmental resilience. Biological composite structures with helicoidal schemes and designs have remarkable capacities to absorb impact energy and withstand damage. However, there is a dearth of extensive study on the influence of fiber redirection and reorientation inside the matrix of a helicoid structure on its mechanical performance and reactivity. the present study aimed to explore the static and t.ansient responses of a bio-inspired helicoid laminated composite(B-iHLC) shell under the influence of an explosive load using an isomorphic method. the structural integrity of the shell is maintained by a viscoelastic basis known as the Pasternak foundation, which encompasses two coefficients of stiffness and one coefficient of damping. the equilibrium equations governing shell dynamics are obtained by using Hamilton's principle and including the modified first-order shear theory,therefore obviating the need to employ a shear correction factor. the paper's model and approach are validated by doing numerical comparisons with respected publications. the findings of this study may be used in the construction of military and civilian infrastructure in situations when the structure is subjected to severe stresses that might potentially result in catastrophic collapse. the findings of this paper serve as the foundation for several other issues, including geometric optimization and the dynamic response of similar mechanical structures.

Background In Viet Nam, tuberculosis (tB) represents a devastating life-event with an exorbitant price tag, partly due to lost income from daily directly observed therapy in public sector care. thus, persons with tB may seek care in the private sector for its flexibility, convenience, and privacy. Our study aimed to measure income changes, costs and catastrophic cost incurrence among tB-affected households in the public and private *** Between October 2020 and March 2022, we conducted 110 longitudinal patient cost interviews, among 50 patients privately treated for tB and 60 tB patients treated by the National tB Program (NtP) in Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. Using a local adaptation of the WHO tB patient cost survey tool, participants were interviewed during the intensive phase, continuation phase and post-treatment. We compared income levels, direct.and indirect treatment costs, catastrophic costs using Wilcoxon rank-sum and chi-squared tests and associated risk factors between the two cohorts using multivariate *** the pre-treatment median monthly household income was significantly higher in the private sector versus NtP cohort (USD 868 vs USD 578;P=0.010). However, private sector treatment was also significantly costlier (USD 2075 vs USD 1313;P=0.005), driven by direct medical costs which were 4.6 times higher t.an costs reported by NtP participants (USD 754 vs USD 164;Pthis resulted in no significant difference in catastrophic costs between the two cohorts (Private: 55% vs NtP: 52%;P=0.675). Factors associated with catastrophic cost included being a single-person household [adjusted odds ratio [(aOR=13.71; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.36–138.14;P=0.026], unemployment during treatment (aOR=10.86; 95%CI: 2.64–44.60;PtB-related stigma (aOR=37.90; 95%CI: 1.72–831.73;P=0.021).Conclusions Persons with tB in Viet Nam face similarly high risk of catastrophic costs whether treated in the

Activated carbon derived from rice husk by NaOH activation and its application in supercapacitor

Four activated carbon(AC) samples prepared from rice husk under different activation temperatures have been characterized by N2adsorption–desorption isotherms, thermogravimetric analysis(tGA–DtA), Fourier t.ansform infrared spectroscopy(FtIR) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). the specific surface area of AC sample reached 2681 m2 g 1under activation temperature of 800 1C. the AC samples were then tested as electrode material; the specific capacitance of the as-prepared activated carbon electrode was found to be 172.3 F g 1using cyclic voltammetry at a scan rate of 5 mV s 1and 198.4 F g 1at current density 1000 mA g 1in the charge/discharge mode.& 2014 Chinese Materials Research Society. Usefulness of Mac-2 binding protein glycosylation isomer in noninvasive probing liver disease in the Vietnamese population

BACKGROUND Early diagnosis is critical for successful intervention before liver disease progresses to cirrhosis and hepatocellular *** to examine a novel biomarker for probing early liver disease quickly using an automated immunology *** this was a cross-sectional study.140 patients at various stages of liver disease were randomly *** cohort consisted of patients who were treatment naïve and currently undergoing *** included patients with diverse liver disease ***-2 binding protein glycosylation isomer(M2BPGi)levels in addition to different clinical parameters,co-morbidities and t.ansient elastography results were collected and *** M2BPGi levels were significantly correlated with t.ansient elastography for liver fibrosis staging across all disease *** significant differences were observed in patients with F0-1;F2 and>F3 liver *** examination showed that M2BPGi levels were two-fold higher in F4 t.an F3 hepatitis C(HCV)patients.M2BPGi was observed to be etiology-specific and HCV patients had higher mean M2BPGi *** also observed significant correlations with aspartate aminot.ansferase to platelet ratio index and fibrosis-4 index as well as HBV DNA *** M2BPGi levels for HBV patients with a viral load lower t.an 2000 IU/mL was 1.75-fold lower t.an those with a viral load greater t.an 2000 IU/*** M2BPGi was observed to be a good indicator of early liver disease in patients with different *** results provide reference cut-offs for different causes of liver disease and demonstrated the utility of this marker for early disease *** is useful for remote regions in developing countries.

Objective:to evaluate the antitumor activity both in vitro and in vivo of saponin–phospholipid complex of Panax ***:the in vitro cytotoxic effect of saponins extract.and saponin–phospholipid complex against human lung cancer NCI-H460 and breast cancer cell lines Bt474 was examined using MtS *** in vivo evaluation of antitumor potential,saponin and saponin–phospholipid complex were administered orally in rats induced mammary carcinogenesis by 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene,for 30 ***:Our data showed that saponin–phospholipid complex had stronger anticancer effect compared to saponin *** IC50 values of saponin–phospholipid complex and saponin extract for NCI-H460 cell lines were 28.47 mg/m L and 47.97 mg/mL,respectively and these values for Bt474 cells were 53.18 mg/mL and 86.24 mg/mL,*** vivo experiments,administration of saponin,saponin–phospholipid complex and paclitaxel(positive control) effectively suppressed 7,12-dimethylbenz(a) anthracene-induced breast cancer evidenced by a decrease in tumor volume,the reduction of lipid peroxidation level and increase in the body weight.and elevated the enzymatic antioxidant activities of superoxide dismutase,catalase,glutathione peroxidase in rat breast ***:Our study suggests that saponin extract from Panax notoginseng and saponin–phospholipid complex have potential to prevent cancer,especially breast cancer.
