Gallstones are common and costly in the world. this disease also have high health burden with high mortality. Currently, Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy has become a gold standard for surgical treatment of symptomatic gallstones. Pain is usually the first concern after surgery. Postoperative pain decreases with time but it is severe enough to interfere with daily activities of patients. Pain after the surgery is also affected by many factors. this cross-sectional study aimed to 1) assess pain intensity and interference pain with daily activities;2) describe the association between pain intensity and interference with daily activities of patients;3) explore factors that influence post-operative pain after Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. Data were collected by 50 patients who were undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy completed questionnaire including the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI). Data were analyzed based on three aims. As this is the first time that this type of study is conducted in Vietnam, it is expected that the results will contribute significantly to local knowledge and should add to global perspectives. From understanding the factors that affect severity of pain, this study is expected to design nursing intervention strategies to improve daily activities among patients undergoing LC.

Use of Stance Adverbs in Academic English:A Comparison of L1 English and L1 Vietnamese Authors’ Writing

The present study investigates authorial stance in research articles of native and non-native academic authors of English. It aims to analyze evaluation adverbs in research articles written by native authors of English(NAEs) and Vietnamese-speaking authors of English(VAEs) between 2012 and 2015. The data of 120 articles was investigated to examine whether there is a significant difference in using stance adverbs between the two groups of authors. It was found that NAEs and VAEs used stance adverbs in a considerably different way. Most of the stance adverb categories were variously overused by NAEs against VAEs. It was also found that English native authors of research articles preferred indirect approaches of expressing their evaluation by an illocutionary way of manner-of-speaking,metalinguistic and expectation markers,while Vietnamese authors favored an epistemic way of modal adverbs.

俗语是由人民群众在生产或生活中创造出并通过口头流传的定型语句,反映人民从实践总结出来的经验以及对生活的愿望。众所周知,中越两国自古以来在各领域已有着频繁的交往,所以越南语言和文化也受到中国的深刻影响,有许多相同之处,俗语也不例外。虽然汉越俗语相同之处较多,但对于越南学生,汉语俗语是很难把握的语言现象。因此,本论文通过汉越俗语的对比分析、教材中俗语编写的考察分析以及越南学生汉语俗语使用与偏误的情况调查,分析越南学生在学习和使用汉语俗语过程中所遇到的问题,从而对汉语俗语的学习和教学提出建议。全部论文共八部分,具体是:第一部分:绪论,说明本论文研究背景、研究意义、研究理论、研究方法以及语料来源。第二部分:对前人已研究成果进行综述,包括汉语俗语本体的研究综述、越南语俗语本体的研究综述、汉越俗语对比的研究综述和对外汉语俗语教学的研究综述。第三部分:介绍汉语俗语和越南语俗语的定义、来源和特征。第四部分:对汉语俗语和越南语俗语的句法结构和语义语形进行对比,找出汉越俗语同大异小。第五部分:对《汉语教程》教材中所出现的俗语进行统计、分类以及分析其编写特点,从而指出本教材俗语编写的不足:俗语释义数量不够、释义内容不完善、俗语练习单一和俗语复现率低。第六部分:以《汉语教程》教材中的俗语为调查问卷的语料来源,对越南学生汉语俗语的使用和偏误情况进行调查分析。从问卷调查结果总结出偏误类型,其包括书写偏误、表达偏误、语义偏误和语用偏误。根据调查结果和偏误类型总结偏误的原因,其包括母语负迁移、目的语知识负迁移、学生学习策略的影响和教材中俗语编写的局限。第七部分:根据上述调查研究的结果,针对越南学生的俗语学习、教学和教材中俗语编写提出建议。具体,教师可以运用对比分析方法进行教学,以避免母语负迁移、及时纠正偏误,以避免目的语负迁移、创造实际情景进行教学、利用各种教学资源。越南学生要调整学习方法并采用网络资源来学习汉语俗语。在教材中俗语编写方面,要选编适合学生汉语水平的俗语、完善俗语释义内容以及完善俗语练习。第八部分:结语,对本文研究进行总结,并说明本文的创新之处以及不足之处。

Biotic and abiotic factors control aboveground biomass(AGB)and the structure of forest *** study analyses the variation of AGB and stand structure of evergreen broadleaved forests among six ecoregions of Vietnam.A data set of 1731-ha plots from 52 locations in undisturbed old-growth forests was *** results indicate that basal area and AGB are closely correlated with annual precipitation,but not with annual temperature,evaporation or hours of *** area and AGB are positively correlated with trees>30 cm *** areas surveyed(52.6%)in these old-growth forests had AGB of 100–200 Mg ha^-1;5.2%had AGB of 400–500 Mg ha^-1,and 0.6%had AGB of>800 Mg ha^-*** percent of the areas surveyed had stand densities of 300–600 ***^-1,and 64%had basal areas of 20–40 m^2 ha^-*** is an important factor influencing the AGB of old-growth,evergreen broadleaved forests in *** causing the loss of large-diameter trees(e.g.,>100 cm DBH)affects AGB but may not seriously affect stand density.

In this work, we study the effects of the spin-0 unparticle on γγ → γγ process. From the numerical results, we show that the cross section with unparticle effect should be about 1027 - 1030 times larger than the one that is confirmed by QED calculation. this could have important implications for unparticle searches and for the measurement of the photon-photon cross section.

Background:Since 2005,the Myanmar National Tuberculosis Programme(NTP)has been implementing active case finding(ACF)activities involving mobile teams in hard-to-reach *** study revealed the contribution of mobile team activities to total tuberculosis(TB)case detection,characteristics of TB patients detected by mobile teams and their treatment ***:this was a descriptive study using routine programme data between October 2014 and December *** team activities were a one-stop service and included portable digital chest radiography(CXR)and microscopy of two sputum *** algorithm of the case detection included screening patients by symptoms,then by CXR followed by sputum microscopy for *** patients were started on treatment and followed until a final outcome was ***:A total of 9349 people with symptoms suggestive of TB were screened by CXR,with an uptake of 96.6%.Of those who were meant to undergo sputum smear microscopy,51.4%had sputum ***,504 TB patients were identified by the mobile teams and the overall contribution to total TB case detection in the respective townships was 25.3%.Among total cases examined by microscopy,6.4%were sputum smear positive *** success rate was high as 91.8%in study townships compared to national rate 85%(2014 cohort).Conclusions:this study confirmed the feasibility and acceptability of ACF by mobile teams in hard-to-reach contexts,especially when equipped with portable,digital CXR machines that provided immediate ***,the follow-up process of sputum examination created a significant barrier to confirmation of the *** order to optimize the ACF through mobile team activity,future ACF activities were needed to be strengthened one stop service including molecular diagnostics or provision of sputum cups to all presumptive TB cases prior to CXR and testing if CXR suggestive of TB.

Jaundice in Adult in-Patients at a Tertiary General Hospital

Objective: The aim of the study is to investigate the “new-onset jaundice” incidence, map of causes, approaching method, and risk factors for treatment failure in adult in-patients at a tertiary general hospital as Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. Method: Retrospective study was done on 416 jaundice patients administered over 38 continuous days. Laboratory tests investigated were total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, AST, ALT, AST/ALT ratio, GGT, AP, bilirubin and urobilinogen in urine. Jaundice was defined as total bilirubin ≥ 2.5 mg/dL, direct bilirubin jaundice defined as direct bilirubin > 2 mg/dL and D/T percentage > 60%, the severity of AST, ALT evaluated according to Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events, AST/ALT ratio, and bilirubin, urobilinogen in urine. Outcome of treatment were classified in two groups: failure (dead or discharge due to worse status) and success. Descriptive statistics and analytic statistics were applied, mono-variable analysis and multinomial logistic regression to find out the independent risk factors for treatment failure. Results: The incidence of “new-onset” jaundice in adult patients was 11 ± 5 person/day. The map of jaundice included 3 phases as pre-heaptic 13.7%, in-hepatic 58.2%, and post-hepatic 22.8%. Pancreatic and biliary tract diseases accounted 17.1%, then cirrhosis 16.3%, liver tumor 14.7%, hepatitis 8.9%, sepsis 8.9%, hematology diseases 7.9%, and cardiac diseases 7.5%. A guide for approaching causes of jaundice basing on 7 parameters as total bilirubin, D/T percentage, severity of ALT, AST/ALT ratio, severity of GGT, and bilirubin and urobilinogen in urine was established. The overall mortality was 7.5% (31/416), sepsis had highest death rate of 37.8% (14/37). Sepsis and AST/ALT ratio > 2 were the two independent risk factors of mortality. Conclusion: At tertiary hospital, jaundice is common sign in adult patient, diverse enormously in many clinical wards. The map of causes of jaundice completed all

We construct optimal k-step, 5- to 10-stage, explicit, strong-stability-preserving Hermite-Birkhoff (SSP HB) methods of order 12 with nonnegative coefficients by combining linear k-step methods of order 9 with 5- to 10-stage Runge-Kutta (RK) methods of order 4. Since these methods maintain the monotonicity property, they are well suited for solving hyperbolic PDEs by the method of lines after a spatial discretization. It is seen that the 8-step 7-stage HB methods have largest effective SSP coefficient among the HB methods of order 12 on hand. On Burgers’ equations, some of the new HB methods have larger maximum effective CFL numbers than Huang’s 7-step hybrid method of order 7, thus allowing larger step size.

Quality of Sleep among Pregnant Women

Objectives: The study aimed to describe the quality of sleep and explore factors especially Sleep Hygiene Practices associated with sleep quality among pregnant women. Study design: this is a cross-sectional study. Methods: 119 healthy pregnant women in two central hospitals in Vietnam were participated in this study. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was employed to evaluate sleep quality and the Modified Sleep Hygiene Practices was used to describe sleeping practices among pregnant women. Results: The results showed that while 58.8% pregnant women had quite good sleep quality, 41.2% of pregnant women had mild to moderate quality sleep disturbance. The quality of sleep was better in second trimester, but then getting worst in the third trimester. Multipara experienced worse sleep quality than nullipara. Poor sleep quality had a positive correlation with unhealthy Sleep Hygiene Practices including using an uncomfortable bed (p third trimester as they experience more change in hormone and physiology. Sleep Hygiene Practices should be emphasized in health education for pregnant women.
