Introduction:Alzheimer 's disease(AD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder and the primary cause of dementia. Considerable evidence supports the “amyloid hypothesis,” stating that the pathogenesis of AD is primarily caused by the deposition of amyloid-β(Aβ), which drives tau phosphorylation, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration in the brain. The amyloid hypothesis is strengthened by the significant and moderate benefit of lecanemab, a humanized antibody through an anti-amyloid mechanism,showing slowed clinical decline(van Dyck et al.,2023). The recent positive results of anti-amyloid trials have brought back focus on the amyloid hypothesis through biochemical, genetic, and pharmacological approaches(Zhang, 2023).

microglia are present throughout the central nervous system and are vital in neural repair,nutrition,phagocytosis,immunological regulation,and maintaining neuronal *** a healthy spinal cord,microglia are accountable for immune surveillance,however,when a spinal cord injury occurs,the microenvironment drastically changes,leading to glial scars and failed axonal *** this context,microglia vary their gene and protein expression during activation,and proliferation in reaction to the injury,influencing injury responses both favorably and unfavorably.A dynamic and multifaceted injury response is mediated by microglia,which interact directly with neurons,astrocytes,oligodendrocytes,and neural stem/progenitor *** a clear understanding of their essential nature and origin,the mechanisms of action and new functions of microglia in spinal cord injury require extensive *** review summarizes current studies on microglial genesis,physiological function,and pathological state,highlights their crucial roles in spinal cord injury,and proposes microglia as a therapeutic target.

This is the first report describing a case where prolonged,severe malabsorption from brown bowel syndrome progressed to multifocally spread small bowel adenocarcinoma. This case involves a female patient who was initially diagnosed with chronic jejunitis associated with primary diffuse lymphangiectasia at the age of 26 years. The course of the disease was clinically,endoscopically,and histologically followed for 21 years until her death at the age 47 due to multifocal,metastasizing adenocarcinoma of the small bowel. multiple lipofuscin deposits(so-called brown bowel syndrome) and severe jejunitis were observed microscopically,and sections of the small bowel showed dense lymphoplasmacytic infiltration of the lamina propria as well as blocked lymphatic vessels. After several decades,multifocal nests of adenocarcinoma cells and extensive,flat,neoplastic mucosal proliferations were found only in the small bowel,along with a loss of the mismatch repair protein mLH1 as a long-term consequence of chronic jejunitis with malabsorption. No evidence was found for hereditary nonpolyposis colon carcinoma syndrome. This article demonstrates for the first time multifocal carcinogenesis in the small bowel in a malabsorption syndrome in an enteritis-dysplasia-carcinoma sequence.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDA) is one of the major causes for cancer death worldwide. Treatment of metastatic disease remains challenging as only certain patients benefit from advances made with the intensified chemotherapy regimen folinic acid, irinotecan and oxaliplatin, the epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor erlotinib or the recently FDA-approved nab-paclitaxel. Up to date, no established approach for prediction of treatment response or specific treatment allocation exists. Translational research was able to identify a number of potential biomarkers that might help to improve the dismal prognosis of PDA by facilitating upfront treatment allocation. This topic highlight is focused on current evidence on potential biomarkers for tumor biology, prognosis and prediction of treatment efficacy.

Background: The majority of Veterans Affair(VA) hospitals are in urban areas. We examined whether veterans residing in rural areas have lower mental health service use and poorer mental health ***: Veterans with at least 1 warzone deployment in central and northeastern Pennsylvania were randomly selected for an interview. mental health status, including posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD), major depression, alcohol abuse and mental health global severity, were assessed using structured interviews. Psychiatric service use was based on self-reported utilization in the past 12 months. Results were compared between veterans residing in rural and non-rural areas. Data were also analyzed using multivariate logistic regression to minimize the influence by confounding ***: A total of 1730 subjects(55% of the eligible veterans) responded to the survey and 1692 of them had complete geocode information. Those that did not have this information(n=38), were excluded from some analyses. Veterans residing in rural areas were older, more often of the white race, married, and experienced fewer stressful events. In comparison to those residing in non-rural areas, veterans residing in rural areas had lower global mental health severity scores;they also had fewer mental health visits. In multivariate logistic regression, rural residence was associated with lower service use, but not with PTSD, major depression, alcohol abuse, and global mental health severity score after adjusting confounding factors(e.g., age, gender, marital status and education).Conclusions: Rural residence is associated with lower mental health service use, but not with poor mental health in veterans with former warzone deployment, suggesting rural residence is possibly protective.

Cloacal malformations are characterized by the confluence of the lower urinary tract,the female reproductive tract,and the rectum to create a common channel with a single opening on the *** presence of a cloaca is a normal phase of early human embryological *** the 4^th and 7^th weeks of gestation,the cloaca undergoes subdivision to form the hindgut and urogenital *** of this process results in the congenital anomaly termed persistent cloaca(PC).The term urorectal septum malformation sequence(URSmS)is also used to describe this *** classic description of this process which is still cited in many standard textbooks dates from the 19th ***,this has been increasingly called into question by the findings of studies using modern scientific *** sinus anomalies are defined by the confluence of the urethra and vagina to form a common channel of varying length with a single perineal *** this condition,the anorectal canal opens separately on the *** presence of a urogenital sinus represents a transient phase of the normal development of the lower genital tract in the female ***,the form of urogenital sinus most commonly encountered in the developed world is a feature of disordered sexual differentiation and does not arise simply from the persistence of the anatomical structure which is a feature of normal fetal development.

Based on the domestic and foreign concerning researches, this paper submits the runoff space-time distribution theory which shows evident scientific significances and powerful practical functions. On the basis of digital basin unit cell deriving from the digital elevation model (DEm) and assumption of linear confluence, this theory has been applied successfully to the runoff correlation researches in humid regions. In order to prove the adaptability of the theory in arid and semi-drought regions, this paper is used to the runoff correlation analysis in Wuding River basin——a tributary of Yellow River Basin, and has gained preliminary effective verification.

In 2021, the city of Kunming in Yunnan Province, China,will host the fifteenth meeting of Conference of Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity. The meeting is expected to be the pivotal moment at which the world’s governments agree on a new ‘Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework’(https://***/conferences/post2020). The framework is anticipated to be structured around a small number of outcome goals for 2050—a compelling case has been made that these should include explicit goals for ecosystems, species,genetic diversity and the contributions which nature makes to people [1].

Prospective real-world data from large patient samples, which re- port on the long-term effectiveness of the employed different drug therapies, are rare in Parkinson＇s disease （PD）. The non interven- tional ＂Transdermal Rotigotine User Surveillance Study＂（TRUST） trial represents such a real-world study. It investigated long-term treatment with different dopamine substituting treatment regimens in 2195 PD patients （mfiller et al., 2018）. Participation in TRUST meant that the treating neurologists were only asked to document and modify the dopaminergic drug regimen without any prior PD patient selection criteria. Thus this unique trial design reflects the real world of patient maintenance.
