Eye on the Sky: A UAP Research and Field Study off New York’s Long Island Coast

A ten-month field research study was meticulously conducted at Robert moses State Park (RmSP) on the south shore of Long Island, NY. The objective was to determine if aerial phenomena of an unknown nature exist over a coastal location and to characterize their properties and behaviors. Primary and secondary field observation methods were utilized in this data-centric study. Forensic engineering principles and methodologies guided the study. The challenges set forward were object detection, observation, and characterization, where multispectral electro-optical devices and radar were employed due to limited visual acuity and intermittent presentation of the phenomena. The primary means of detection utilized a 3 cm X-band radar operating in two scan geometries, the X- and Y-axis. multispectral electro-optical devices were utilized as a secondary means of detection and identification. Data was emphasized using HF and LF detectors and spectrum analyzers incorporating Em, ultrasonic, magnetic, and RF field transducers to record spectral data in these domains. Data collection concentrated on characterizing VIS, NIR, SWIR, LWIR, UVA, UVB, UVC, and the higher energy spectral range of ionizing radiation (alpha, beta, gamma, and X-ray) recorded by Geiger-müller counters as well as special purpose semiconductor diode sensors.

Objective:To identify possible stone-promoting microbes,we compared the profiles of microbes grown from stones of patients with and without metabolic syndrome(metS).The association between metS and urinary stone disease is well established,but the exact pathophysiologic relationship remains *** evidence suggests urinary tract dysbiosis may lead to increased nephrolithiasis ***:At the time of percutaneous nephrolithotomy,bladder urine and stone fragments were collected from patients with and without *** sample types were subjected to expanded quantitative urine culture(EQUC)and 16 S ribosomal RNA gene ***:Fifty-seven patients included 12 controls(21.1%)and 45 metS patients(78.9%).Both cohorts were similar with respect to demographics and non-metS *** controls had uric acid stone *** EQUC,bacteria were detected more frequently in metS stones(42.2%)compared to controls(8.3%)(p=0.041).Bacteria also were more abundant in stones of metS patients compared to *** validate our EQUC results,we performed 16 S ribosomal RNA gene *** 12/16(75.0%)sequence-positive stones,EQUC reliably isolated at least one species of the sequenced *** were detected in both“infectious”and“non-infectious”stone ***:Bacteria are more common and more abundant in metS stones than control *** findings support a role for bacteria in urinary stone disease for patients with metS regardless of stone composition.

Nephronophthisis-related ciliopathies(NPHP-RC)represent one of the most common causes of chronic kidney disease in the first three decades of life and are characterized by a broad genetic and clinical heterogeneity.1 To date,more than 90 genes have been identified that cause autosomalrecessive NPHP-RC if mutated,accounting for up to 60%of cases.1 Among these,homozygous deletions of NPHP1 are the most common *** genes localize to primary cilia,basal bodies,or the centrosome and lead to a primary ciliary disruption if mutated,thereby causing a broad phenotypical spectrum.1 Patients that suffer from NPHP-RC can either have an isolated renal phenotype,such as polyuria,polydipsia,decreased urinary concentration ability,and secondary enuresis due to loss of tubular function,or present with extrarenal symptoms including retinal degeneration,cerebellar vermis hypoplasia,or hepatic *** are often diagnosed in early adolescence,reaching end-stage renal disease before 25 years of age,but early onset and rapidly progressive forms of NPHP-RC also exist.1 Renal ultrasound indicates kidneys of normal or reduced renal length with increased echogenicity and corticomedullary cysts.

Antimony, Arsenic and Thallium Bioaccumulation in Asiatic Clam (Corbicula fluminea) Transplanted along the manadas Creek, Laredo, Texas

manadas Creek is an urban tributary of the Rio Grande that flows past a decommissioned antimony smelter and processing plant. This antimony plant is associated with heavy metal contamination in the creek and still poses a threat to the surrounding aquatic environment. Corbicula fluminea was used to determine bioaccumulation from the water column and sediments in manadas Creek. The metals arsenic (As), antimony (Sb) and thallium (Tl) were analyzed in the water, sediments, gills, mantle, foot, digestive (DI) tract, gonads and shell of clams being monitored at eight sites between march and August 2013. Sediment, water, and dissected Corbicula fluminea samples from different sites in the Creek were acid-digested and analyzed by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy. High levels of antimony (25.88 ug/L;75.96 mg/kg) and arsenic (8.26 ug/L;6.41 mg/kg) in the water and sediments were observed at the site downstream from the smelter. There were no detectable concentrations of arsenic, antimony, or thallium in the shell of C. fluminea. Arsenic and antimony were detected in the tissues of C. fluminea but thallium was not detected. Based on the results, the organotropism for arsenic is DI tract > gills > gonads > foot > mantle > shell and the organotropism for antimony is gills > DI tract > gonads > mantle > foot > shell. This study shows that the Asiatic clam (Corbicula fluminea) is a useful bio-monitor to provide data on the status of metal pollution in manadas Creek, Laredo, Texas.

Rice(Oryza sativa L.) production is threatened by global warming associated with extreme high temperatures, and rice heat sensitivity is differed when stress occurs between daytime and nighttime. However,the underlying molecular mechanism are largely unknown. We show here that two glycine-rich RNA binding proteins, Os GRP3 and Os GRP162, are required for thermotolerance in rice, especially at nighttime. The rhythmic expression of Os GRP3/Os GRP162 peaks at midnight, and at these coincident times,is increased by heat stress. This is largely dependent on the evening complex component Os *** next found that the double mutant of Os GRP3/Os GRP162 is strikingly more sensitive to heat stress in terms of survival rate and seed setting rate when comparing to the wild-type plants. Interestingly,the defect in thermotolerance is more evident when heat stress occurred in nighttime than that in daytime. Upon heat stress, the double mutant of Os GRP3/Os GRP162 displays globally reduced expression of heat-stress responsive genes, and increases of m RNA alternative splicing dominated by *** study thus reveals the important role of Os GRP3/Os GRP162 in thermotolerance in rice, and unravels the mechanism on how Os GRP3/Os GRP162 regulate thermotolerance in a diurnal manner.

＜正＞The Bangong-Nujiang suture cuts across central Tibet and marks where the meso-Tethys Ocean that once separated the Lhasa and Qiangtang terranes was consumed by subduction about 150 million years ago. This relatively poorly studied Late mesozoic suture traverses Tibet meridionally at～32°N. Little is known about this zone although several models speculate on its development. The dimensions and temporal duration of the meso-Tethys Ocean as well as the timing of its closure are poorly constrained. Some data appear to indicate southward emplacement of these rocks onco the Lhasa terrane, whereas other criteria suggest their northward emplacement onto the Qiangtang terrane. Thus, the polarity of any subduction system associated with closure of this ocean remains indeterrr inate. Few detailed descriptions of rocks in the area exist and models rely on extrapolation from these reports along the entire length of the suture. In the summer of 2002, members of the HKU Tibet Research Group undertook an expedition to Dong Tso, midway along the suture （～84°E）, in order to examine the area and assess its suitability for detailed investigation and more detailed work commenced in summer of 2004, In this area a complete, albeit disrupted, ophiolite succession is particularly well exposed. The suture is marked by a series of steeply dipping south-directed thrust faults. From north to south across the suture, the following lithologies can be observed. The hanging wall at the northern margin of the suture consists of rocks of the southern Qaintang terrane that are thrust southwards over a terrane consisting of thick successions of locally ankaramitic alkaline pillow basalts overlain by limestones/marbles. The presence of rugose corals in the carbonates indicates a Paleozoic age. This terrane is itself thrust southwards over the base （north） of the ophiolite section at a zone of serpentinite-matrix mélange, which is dominated by ultramafic blocks in the footwall. Blood metal concentrations and cardiac structure and function in total joint arthroplasty patients

BACKGROUND There is concern regarding potential long-term cardiotoxicity with systemic distribution of metals in total joint arthroplasty(TJA)*** To determine the association of commonly used implant metals with echocardiographic measures in TJA *** The study comprised 110 TJA patients who had a recent history of high chromium,cobalt or titanium *** underwent two-dimensional,three-dimensional,Doppler and speckle-strain transthoracic echocardiography and a blood draw to measure metal *** and sex-adjusted linear and logistic regression models were used to examine the association of metal concentrations(exposure)with echocardiographic measures(outcome).RESULTS Higher cobalt concentrations were associated with increased left ventricular end-diastolic volume(estimate 5.09;95%CI:0.02-10.17)as well as left atrial and right ventricular dilation,particularly in men but no changes in cardiac *** titanium concentrations were associated with a reduction in left ventricle global longitudinal strain(estimate 0.38;95%CI:0.70 to 0.06)and cardiac index(estimate 0.08;95%CI,-0.15 to-0.01).CONCLUSION Elevated cobalt and titanium concentrations may be associated with structural and functional cardiac changes in some *** studies are warranted to better understand the systemic effects of metals in TJA patients.
