BACKGROUND For patients with cardiovascular disease,blood pressure variability(BPV),distinct from hypertension,is an important determinant of adverse cardiac *** pre-operative BPV adversely affects outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)is to this point *** To investigate the relationship between blood pressure variability and outcomes for patients *** Patients undergoing PCI in a single state in 2017 were studied(n=647).Systolic and diastolic BPV,defined as both the largest change and standard deviation for the 3-60 mo prior to PCI was calculated and patients with more than ten blood pressure measurements in that time were included for analysis(n=471).Adverse outcomes were identified up to a year following the procedure,including major adverse cardiac events(MACE),myocardial infarction,cerebrovascular accident,death,and all-cause *** Visit-to-visit systolic BPV,as measured by both standard deviation and largest change,was higher in patients who had myocardial infarction,were readmitted,or died within one year following *** BPV,as measured by largest change or standard deviation,was higher in patients who had MACE,or readmissions(Plic BPV,as measured by largest change,was higher in patients with MACE and readmissions(PlUSION As BPV is easily measured and captured in the electronic medical record,these findings describe a novel method of identifying at-risk patients who undergo *** risk modification for patients with elevated BPV and known coronary artery disease is indicated.

Anatase Titanium Dioxide Coated Single Wall Carbon Nanotubes Manufactured by Sonochemical-Hydrothermal Technique

A novel, cost effective, sonochemical-hydrothermal technique was used for the deposition of nanosized anatase titanium dioxide (TiO2) onto single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). This technique is described and the characterization of the synthesized TiO2-SWCNTs is reported. The characterization techniques employed include scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction (XRD). From the characterization the size and morphology of the synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles (deposited on the SWCNTs) are reported. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the created TiO2 nanoparticles are chemically attached to the SWCNTs. Also, an important correlation between calculated TiO2 crystal size and the red shifts in the lowest Raman TiO2 (E.g.) predominate peak is reported. The synthesized TiO2-SWCNTs have potential for large scale production and application in a variety of new technologies such as clean energy power generation devices, electrical storage devices, photocatalysts, and sensors.

Molecular mechanisms controlling seed set in cereal crop species under stress and non-stress conditions

Maximizing seed yield is the ultimate breeding goal in important cereal crop species. Seed set is a key developmental stage in the process of seed formation, which determines grain number, seed mass, and realized yield potential, and can be severely affected by abiotic and biotic stresses. However, seed set can also be substantially reduced by genetic factors even under optimal fertilization conditions. The underlying molecular genetic mechanisms are still obscure. In this review, we elucidate the process of seed set of cereal crop species in detail, including development of floral structures, formation of viable gametes, double fertilization, seed development, and abortion. We discuss how genetic and non-genetic factors affect seed set in different development stages. Finally, we will propose novel strategies to study genetic mechanisms controlling seed set and exploit genetic resources to improve seed set in cereal crop species.

Building energy efficiency is a key factor in reducing CO_(2) *** this reason,European Union(EU)member states have developed thermal regulations to ensure building thermal *** results are often based on results achieved with building simulation software during the design ***,the actual thermal performance can deviate significantly from the predicted one,and this difference is known as the energy performance *** indicators of the actual thermal performance are a valuable tool to guarantee building *** indicators,including the heat transfer coefficient(HTC)and the heat loss coefficient(HlC),can be estimated by the application of in situ *** multi-family housing and tertiary sector buildings are an important part of the building stock,mature methods to measure their thermal performance are *** paper presents a short-duration method for assessing the HTC in large building typologies using a sampling *** method was applied in a four-storey building model under different conditions to study the limits of the method and to improve indicator bias and *** quality was strongly influenced by the external weather conditions,the temperature variation during the protocol and the heat exchange with the adjacent *** winter conditions and with stable indoor temperatures,the method had a high accuracy when the protocol was applied for half a *** is recommended that the protocol be used over two days to improve indicator quality under less favorable test conditions.

Ractopamine up take by alfalfa (Medicago sativa) and wheat (Triticum aestivum) from soil

Ractopamine is a beta adrenergic agonist used as a growth promoter in swine, cattle and turkeys. To test whether ractopamine has the potential to accumulate in plants grown in contaminated soil, a greenhouse study was conducted with alfalfa（Medicago sativa） and wheat（Triticum aestivum） grown in two soils having different concentrations of organic matter（1.3% and 2.1%）, amended with 0, 0.5, and 10 μg/g of ractopamine. Plant growth ranged from 2.7 to 8.8 g dry weight（dw） for alfalfa, and 8.7 to 40 g dw for wheat and was generally greater in the higher organic matter content soil. The uptake of ractopamine in plant tissues ranged from non-detectable to 897 ng/g and was strongly dependent on soil ractopamine concentration across soil and plant tissue. When adjusted to the total fortified quantities, the amount of ractopamine taken up by the plant tissue was low, 〈 0.01% for either soil.

Biochemical indicators for neuronal regeneration during intrathecal triamcinolone application in multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis （MS） is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system （CNS）. Essential charac- teristics are demyelination, inflammation and neurode- generation. This process affects the white and grey matter in the CNS. MS patients experience various progression subtypes in association with the cerebral or spinal, acute inflammatory or glial sclerotic lesions （Mtiller, 2009）. Most patients end up in a progressive, smouldering, chronic inflammatory process （MUller, 2009）. Current predominantly used 1.5 respectively 3 Tesla MRI with Gadolinium~ application visualize the various old and acute lesions. They serve as a biological marker in com- bination with standardised assessment of brain atrophy, black holes, etc. However, MRI with a stronger magnetic 7 Tesla field with better sensitivity gave hints on an on- going, acute inflammatory, smouldering process even with Gadolinium~ enhancing acute lesions in the brain and the spinal cord in progressive, so-called relapse free MS patients （Mtiller, 2009; Sinnecker et al., 2012）. Ad- ditionally, progress of MS is determined with subjective standardised clinical ratings （Sinnecker et al., 2012）. Both methods are used for the evaluation of the efficacy of relapse rate reducing drugs. These compounds, i.e., in- terferons, teriflunamide, glatiramer acetate, fingolimod, fumarate or monoclonal antibodies, preponderantly weaken the malfunction of the peripheral immune system in relapse remitting MS patients. These MS drugs share one common disadvantage. They do not stop progression or improve MS within a framework of a regenerative process. They do not enable reversal of symptoms, for in- stance functional deficits or spasticity （Mtiller, 2009）.

Anticipation and Response: Emergency Services in Severe Weather Situations in Germany

Communicating meteorological uncertainty allows earlier provision of information on possible future events. The desired benefit is to enable the end-user to start with preparatory protective actions at an earlier time based on the end-user's own risk assessment and decision threshold. The presented results of an interview study,conducted with 27 members of German civil protection authorities, show that developments in meteorology and weather forecasting do not necessarily fit the current practices of German emergency services. These practices are mostly carried out based on alarms and ground truth in a superficial reactive manner, rather than on anticipation based on prognoses or forecasts. Emergency managers cope with uncertainty by collecting, comparing, and blending different information about an uncertain event and its uncertain outcomes within the situation assessment to validate the information. Emergency managers struggle most with an increase of emergency calls and missions due to the impacts of severe weather. Because of the additional expenditures, the weather event makes it even harder for them to fulfill their core duties. These findings support the need for impact-based warnings.

创新运用文献计量与范围综述相融合的方法,揭示出近二十年来国际二语自我调节学习研究的现状及其不足。在理论层面,自我调节学习存在概念界定不清及相关术语使用混淆两大问题。此外,现有研究以社会认知理论为主导,缺乏从多元理论视角对自我调节学习的深入探究。在研究群体上,多聚焦高等教育阶段的外语学习者,而对不同年龄段和文化背景下学习者的自我调节机制了解不足。在研究话题上,主要集中在写作任务情景,而对听力、阅读、口语及词汇等其他语言技能的自我调节学习过程探讨不足。在研究方法上,主要是问卷调查和访谈,缺乏对自我调节学习过程和能力发展的历时研究。因此,未来研究需要厘清自我调节学习的概念内涵;拓宽理论视角;扩大研究对象范围;全面探讨不同语言技能的自我调节学习过程;开展实验和历时性追踪研究,运用多种方法收集过程性数据,以便深入了解二语自我调节学习的过程和发展轨迹,为二语教学提供更为有益的指导。
