The present study was an attempt to delineate potential groundwater zones in Kalikavu Panchayat of Malappuram district,Kerala,*** geo-spatial database on geomorphology,landuse,geology,slope and drainage network was generated in a geographic information system(GIS)environment from satellite data,Survey of India topographic sheets and field *** understand the movement and occurrence of groundwater,the geology,geomorphology,structural set-up and recharging conditions have to be well *** the present study,the potential recharge areas are delineated in terms of geology,geomorphology,land use,slope,drainage pattern,*** thematic data generated were integrated using a heuristic method in the GIS domain to generate maps showing potential groundwater *** composite output map scores were reclassified into different zones using a decision *** final output map shows different zones of groundwater prospect,viz.,very good(15.57%of the area),good(43.74%),moderate(28.38%)and poor(12.31%).Geomorphic units such as valley plains,valley fills and alluvial terraces were identified as good to excellent prospect zones,while the gently sloping lateritic uplands were identified as good to moderate *** sloping hilly terrains underlain by hard rocks were identified as poor groundwater prospect zones.

Commercial milking of sheep is a new agricultural industry in the United States starting approximately 30 yr ago. The industry is still small, but it is growing. The majority of the sheep milk is used in the production of specialty cheeses. The United States is the major importer of sheep milk cheeses with 50 to 60% of annual world exports coming to the United States during the past 20 yr. Therefore, there is considerable growth potential for the industry in the United States. The only dairy sheep research flock in North America is located at the Spooner Agricultural Research Station of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The research program started in 1993 and has been multifaceted; dealing with several areas important to commercial dairy sheep farmers. The East Friesian and lacaune dairy breeds were compared and introduced to the industry through the research program. Both dairy breeds produced significantly more milk than traditional meat-wool breeds found in the U.S., but the two breeds differed in their production traits. East Friesian-cross ewes produced more lambs and slightly more milk than lacaune-cross ewes whereas lacaune-cross ewes produced milk with a higher percentage of fat and protein than East Friesian-cross ewes. lactation physiology studies have shown that ewes with active corpora lutea have increased milk yields, oxytocin release during milking is required to obtain normal fat percentages in the milk, large udder cisterns of dairy ewes can allow for increased milking intervals, and short daylengths during late pregnancy results in increased milk yield. In the nutrition area, legume-grass pastures and forages with a higher percentage of legume will result in increased milk production. Grazing ewes respond to additional supplementation with increased milk yield, but it is important to match the supplement to the quality of the grazing. Background:The purpose of this study was to report on the psychometric measures and discriminatory function of a new diagnostic test for autism spectrum disorders,the Clinical Autism Diagnostic Scale(CADS).Methods:The CADS was used to test 216 children in the study,including 86 with low-functioning autism specturm disorders(ASD),16 children with highfunctioning ASD,16 with pervasive developmental disorder,not otherwise specified,7 with Asperger syndrome,65 with typical development,11 children with language impairments and 15 with intellectual *** ranged from 38-73 *** for the groups were compared across seven ***:The results indicated the instrument was reliable,valid,and successfully differentiated the different groups of children with and without *** ASD groups were found to display difficulties in the domains of sensory behaviors and stereotyped *** play and social domains were found to measure similar underlying concepts of behaviors,while the receptive language and expressive language domains were also found to measure similar underlying-language *** group of children diagnosed as having low-functioning autism performed less well on all tested domains in the instrument than did the other three groups of children with ASD,and these other three groups each also presented unique patterns of behaviors and differed on individual ***:CADS is a reliable and valid *** successfully differentiates the abilities of children with ASD at different levels of functioning.

MicroRNA-371a-3p as a blood-based biomarker in testis cancer

MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are small noncoding RNAs involved in the regulation of mRNA transcription and translation,and possess all desirable features of an ideal tumor *** almost 31 different miRNA clusters identified in germ cell tumors(GCTs),miR-371a-3p has shown exceptionally high sensitivity and specificity for both seminomatous and nonseminomatous *** is easily obtainable and correlates well with tumor *** multiinstitutional prospective studies have shown promising test characteristics for miR-371a-3p as a diagnostic blood-based biomarker for GCT prior to orchiectomy including 80%e100%sensitivity and 90%e100%*** accuracy may address other unmet needs in the management of patients with *** studies have suggested the utility of miR-371a-3p in detecting occult nodal metastasis in high-risk clinical stage I and early stage II *** clinical trials including SWOG 1823 and AGCT1531 are specifically designed to confirm the utility of miR-371a-3p in clinical stage I *** its strong association with viable GCT after treatment with chemotherapy,miR-371a-3p does not seem to accurately predict the presence of teratoma in residual ***,standardization of extraction and interpretation methods is a necessary step to assure uniform results across different institutions.

Tomato production is influenced by shoot branching,which is controlled by different *** we produced tomato plants overexpressing the cytokinin-deactivating gene CYTOKININ OXYDASE 2(CKX2).CKX2-overexpressing(CKX2-OE)plants showed an excessive growth of axillary shoots,the opposite phenotype expected for plants with reduced cytokinin content,as evidenced by lC-MS analysis and ARR5-GUS *** TCP transcription factor SlBRC1b was downregulated in the axillary buds of CKX2-OE and its excessive branching was dependent on a functional version of the GRAS-family gene lATERAl SUPPRESSOR(lS).Grafting experiments indicated that increased branching in CKX2-OE plants is unlikely to be mediated by root-derived *** CKX2-OE plants with transgenic antisense plants for the strigolactone biosynthesis gene CAROTENOID ClEAVAGE DIOXYGENASE(CCD7-AS)produced an additive phenotype,indicating independent effects of cytokinin and strigolactones on increased *** the other hand,CKX2-OE plants showed reduced polar auxin transport and their bud outgrowth was reduced when combined with auxin ***,CKX2-OE basal buds did not respond to auxin applied in the decapitated *** results suggest that tomato shoot branching depends on a fine-tuning of different hormonal balances and that perturbations in the auxin status could compensate for the reduced cytokinin levels in CKX2-OE plants.

locoregional therapies and their effects on the tumoral microenvironment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) is expected to become the second leading cause of death from cancer by 2030. Despite intensive research in the field of therapeutics, the 5-year overall survival is approximately 8%, with only 20% of patients eligible for surgery at the time of diagnosis. The tumoral microenvironment(TME) of the PDAC is one of the main causes for resistance to antitumoral treatments due to the presence of tumor vasculature, stroma, and a modified immune response. The TME of PDAC is characterized by high stiffness due to fibrosis, with hypo microvascular perfusion, along with an immunosuppressive environment that constitutes a barrier to effective antitumoral treatment. While systemic therapies often produce severe side effects that can alter patients’ quality of life, locoregional therapies have gained attention since their action is localized to the pancreas and can thus alleviate some of the barriers to effective antitumoral treatment due to their physical effects. local hyperthermia using radiofrequency ablation and radiation therapy-most commonly using a local high single dose-are the two main modalities holding promise for clinical efficacy. Recently, irreversible electroporation and focused ultrasound-derived cavitation have gained increasing attention. To date, most of the data are limited to preclinical studies, but ongoing clinical trials may help better define the role of these locoregional therapies in the management of PDAC patients.

Towards predicting biochar impacts on plant-available soil nitrogen content
