Background: Complications linked to postpartum & pregnancy are one of the major causes of female death. In order to understand the causes of complications and encourage women to take sufficient action in order to receive emergency treatment, a critical step should therefore be taken to minimize complications related to pregnancy, in order to ensure the safety of both women and newborns. Aim of the work: Evaluate the effectiveness of the education programs for pregnant women on obstetric danger signs in rural areas and help minimize the incidence of pregnancy loss and comorbidities. AIm. To evaluate the efficacy of intraoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography(ERCP) com.ined with laparoscopic cholecystectom.(LC) forpatients with gall bladder stones(GS) and com.on bile duct stones(CBDS).m.THODS: Patients treated for GS with CBDS were included. LC and intraoperative transcystic cholangiogram.TCC) were perform.d in m.st of the cases. Intraoperative ERCP was done for cases with proven ***: Eighty patients who had GS with CBDS were included. LC was successful in all cases. Intraoperative TCC revealed passed CBD stones in 4 cases so intraoperative ERCP was perform.d only in 76 patients. Intraoperative ERCP showed dilated CBD with stones in 64 cases(84.2%) where rem.val of stones were successful; passed stones in 6 cases(7.9%); short lower end stricture with sm.ll stones present in two cases(2.6%) which were treated by rem.val of stones with stent insertion; long stricture lower 1/3 CBD in one case(1.3%) which was treated by open hepaticojejunostom.; and one case(1.3%) was proved to be am.ullary carcinom. and whipple's operation was scheduled. CONCLUSION: The hepatobiliary surgeon should be trained on ERCP as the third hand to expand his field of therapeutic options.

AIm.o detect risk factors for post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) pancreatitis (PEP) and investigate the predictors of its severity. m.THODSThis is a prospective cohort study of all patients who underwent ERCP. Pre-ERCP data, intraoperative data, and post-ERCP data were collected. RESULTSThe study population consisted of 996 patients. Their m.an age at presentation was 58.42 (&plusm.; 14.72) years, and there were 454 m.le and 442 fem.le patients. Overall, PEP occurred in 102 (10.2%) patients of the study population; eighty (78.4%) cases were of m.ld to m.derate degree, while severe pancreatitis occurred in 22 (21.6%) patients. No hospital m.rtality was reported for any of PEP patients during the study duration. Age less than 35 years (P = 0.001, OR = 0.035), narrower com.on bile duct (CBD) diam.ter (P = 0.0001) and increased num.er of pancreatic cannulations (P = 0.0001) were independent risk factors for the occurrence of PEP. CONCLUSIONPEP is the m.st frequent and devastating com.lication after ERCP. Age less than 35 years, narrower m.dian CBD diam.ter and increased num.er of pancreatic cannulations are independent risk factors for the occurrence of PEP. Patients with these risk factors are candidates for prophylactic and preventive m.asures against PEP.

Background: Fam.lial m.diterranean fever (Fm.) is an autoinflam.atory genetic disorder that associated with different genetic m.tations. Frequency of clinical m.nifestation differs according to age group, geographic region and ethnic population. Objectives: To study the clinical m.nifestation of Fm. in relation to genotype (m.80I, m.94V, m.94I and V726A). Result: The m.in presentation of studied group was abdom.nal pain 65.9% (203), followed by fever 60.4% (186) patients. (m.tation m.94V) was the com.onest 47.6% (297), followed by (m.tation V726A) in 32.8% (169%), then (m.tation m.802) in 23.4% (121) lastly (m.tation m.941) was in 22.1% (114) patients. Fever was highly associated with m.tation (V729A) and it was statistically significant (*p value 0.047). Conclusion: Abdom.nal pain and fever were the m.st com.on m.nifestation of Fm. patients. (m.tation m.94V), (m.tation V726A) were the m.st detected m.tation. Third age group;fever was associated with genetic m.tation (V726A), abdom.nal pain with (m.941).
