th. physics of compressible turbulence in high energy density(HED) plasmas is an unchartered experimental *** of compressible and radiative flows relevant for astrophysics rely mainly on subscale parameters. th.refore,we plan to perform turbulent hydrodynamics experiments in HED plasmas(TurboHEDP) in order to improve our understanding of such important phenomena for interest in both.communities: laser plasma physics and astrophysics. We will focus on th. physics of supernovae remnants which are complex structures subject to fluid instabilities such as th. Rayleigh–Taylor and Kelvin–Helmholtz instabilities. th. advent of megajoule laser facilities, like th. National Ignition Facility and th. Laser Megajoule, creates novel opportunities in laboratory astrophysics, as it provides unique platforms to study turbulent mixing flows in HED plasmas. Indeed, th. physics requires accelerating targets over larger distances and longer time periods th.n previously achieved. In a preparatory phase, scaling from experiments at lower laser energies is used to guarantee th. performance of future MJ experiments. th.s subscale experiments allow us to develop experimental skills and numerical tools in th.s new field of research, and are stepping stones to achieve our objectives on larger laser facilities. We review first in th.s paper recent advances in high energy density experiments devoted to laboratory astrophysics. th.n we describe th. necessary steps forward to commission an experimental platform devoted to turbulent hydrodynamics on a megajoule laser facility. Recent novel experimental results acquired on LULI2000, as well as supporting radiative hydrodynamics simulations, are presented. Togeth.r with.th. development of LiF detectors as transformative X-ray diagnostics, th.se preliminary results are promising on th. way to achieve micrometric spatial resolution in turbulent HED physics experiments in th. near future.

Slow Pyrolysis of Sugarcane Bagasse for th. Production of Char and th. Potential of Its By-Product for Wood Protection

Sugarcane bagasse was pyrolyzed using a laboratory fixed bed reactor to produce char and its by-product(pyrolysis liquid).th. pyrolysis experiments were carried out using different temperatures(400℃ and 500℃),heating rate(1℃/min and 10℃/min),and holding time(30 min and 60 min).Char was characterized according to its th.rmal properties,while th. pyrolysis liquid was tested for its anti-fungal and anti-termite *** temperature and heating rate had a significant influence on th. char properties and th. yield of char and pyrolysis liquid,where a high-quality char and high yield of pyrolysis liquid can be obtained at a temperature of 500℃ and a heating rate of 10℃/*** yield of char and pyrolysis liquid was 28.97%and 55.46%,*** principal compounds of pyrolysis liquid were water,acetic acid,glycolaldehyde,1-hydroxy-2-propanone,meth.nol,formic acid,levoglucosan,furfural,followed by some phenol compounds and guaiacol *** liquid at a concentration of 0.20%and 0.25%(v/v)caused a 100%inhibition of Coniophora puteana and Trametes versicolor,respectively,when performing inhibition growth.tests in Petri *** paper treated with.10%of pyrolysis liquid caused 100%of termite mortality,while only 5.65%–7.03%of th. treated filter papers consumed by termites at such *** liquid is potentially effective to be used in th. formulation of wood protection against fungi and termites.

AIM： TO study th. implication of prokineticin 1 （PKI/EGVEGF） and prokineticin 2 （PK2/13v8） in hepatocellular carcinoma angiogenesis.MEth.DS： th. gene induction of PK1/EG-VEGF and PK2/Bv8 was investigated in 10 normal, 28 fibrotic and 28 tumoral livers by using real time PCR. th.ir expression was compared to th. expression of VEGF （an angiogenesis marker）, vWF （an endoth.lial cell marker） and to CD68 （a monocyte/macrophage marker）. Furth.rmore, th. rnRNA levels of PK1/EG-VEGF, PK2/Bv8, prokineticin receptor 1 and 2 were evaluated by real time PCR in isolated liver cell populations. Finally, PK2/Bv8 protein was detected in normal liver paraffin sections and in isolated liver cells by immunohistochernistry and immunocytochemistry.RESULTS： PK2/Bv8 mRNA but not PK1/EG-VEGF was expressed in all types of normal liver samples examined. In th. context of liver tumor development, we reported th.t PK2/13v8 correlates only with.CD68 and showed a significant decrease in expression as th. path.logy evolves towards cancer. Whereas, VEGF and vWF mRNA were significantly upregulated in both.fibrosis and HCC,as expected. In addition, out of all isolated liver cells examined, only Kupffer cells （liver resident macrophages） express significant levels of PK2/Bv8 and its receptors, prokineticin receptor 1 and 2.CONCLUSION： In normal liver PK2/Bv8 and its receptors were specifically expressed by Kupffer cells. PK2/Bv8 expression decreased as th. liver evolves towards cancer and did not correlate with.HCC angiogenesis.

Evaluation of th. diuretic effects of crude stem bark extraction of Zanth.xylum heitzii(Rutaceae) in Wistar rats

OBJECTIVE： Zanth.xylum heitzii is a medicinal plant widely used in central Africa for th. treatment of many diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases and hypertension. th. diuretic effects of crude stern bark extraction were determined and its safety in rats was evaluated. MEth.DS： th. diuretic effects of crude stem bark extraction of Z. heitzii were investigated in Wistar rats （250 g ＋ 10 g） of both.sexes. th. crude stem bark extraction of Z. heitzii at th. doses of 225, 300 and 375 mg/kg was administered to rats at 5 mL/kg body weight. Urine volume was determined 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 24 h after administration of th. extract. Kinetics of electrolyte elimination in response to a single oral administration dose of acute treatment was measured. th. experiments were performed under th. same conditions with.two synth.tic pharmacological diuretics considered as reference （furosemide and hydrochloroth.azide）. Urinary and plasma concentrations of sodium and potassium ions were determined using flame photometry. Concentrations of creatinine, urea, glucose, albumin and electrolytes in th. plasma and urine samples were evaluated using a two-way digital bidirectional spectrophotometer. th. osmolarity of plasma and urine samples was measured by cytometry using an osmometer. Aldosterone was measured by radioimmunoassay. RESULTS： th. plant extract accelerated th. elimination of overloaded fluid and increased urine volume and th. excretion of Na＋, K＋ and CI 24 h after administration （P〈0.05）. th. increase in elimination of Na＋, K＋, and Cl- induced by th. extract caused alkalinization of th. urine, and showed a strong inhibitory effect on carbonic anhydrase and saluretic. th.se effects were mainly observed at th. dose of 375 mg/kg. At th. maximum diuretic response, urinary osmolarity decreased significantly （P 〈 0.05） when compared to controls. th. stability of aldosterone level, th. absence of correlation with.th. plasma levels of Na＋, and increased clearance of free water in t

Feedback Stabilization for a Scalar Conservation Law with.PID Boundary Control

th.s paper deals with.a scalar conservation law in 1-D space dimension, and in particular, th. focus is on th. stability analysis for such an equation. th. problem of feedback stabilization under proportional-integral-derivative(PID for short) boundary control is addressed. In th. proportional-integral(PI for short) controller case, by spectral analysis, th. auth.rs provide a complete characterization of th. set of stabilizing feedback parameters, and determine th. corresponding time delay stability interval. Moreover, th. stability of th. equilibrium is discussed by Lyapunov function techniques, and by th.s approach th. exponential stability when a damping term is added to th. classical PI controller scheme is proved. Also, based on Pontryagin results on stability for quasipolynomials, it is shown th.t th. closed-loop system sub ject to PID control is always unstable.
