DNA t.st.ng for biological relat.onships is becoming increasingly common in Burkina Faso. St. analysis remains the most.reliable t.chnique for resolving disput.s or claims in court.regarding biological relat.onships. this st.dy aimed t. est.blish the links of biological relat.onships bet.een subject. by analyzing 21 St. loci. the part.cipant. were 14 individuals referred t. CERBA by the Just.ce in 2022. Oral or blood samples were t.ken for each subject. DNA was ext.act.d, and the analysis of DNA polymorphism by PowerPlex® 21 Kit.(Part.No. DC8902) was performed by capillary elect.ophoresis on the ABI PRISM 3130 sequencer. DNA profiles were compiled using the GeneMapper IDX soft.are version 1.2. Of the fourt.en subject. examined, t.elve of these samples had complet. genet.c profiles, while the other t.o had part.al and absent.profiles. the result. confirmed the inclusion of three cases of Pat.rnit., one case of mat.rnit., one case of a relat.onship of brotherhood, and the exclusion of one case of mat.rnit. and one case of a relat.onship of brotherhood. DNA t.st. improve the resolut.on of filiat.ons, but.they require ethical and cult.ral awareness and a st.engthened legal framework t. prevent.and prot.ct.societ..

Int.oduct.on: Arbovirus diseases such as dengue and chikungunya threat.n public health worldwide. Early and rapid diagnosis and surveillance of dengue virus (DENV) and chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infect.ons are essent.al t. the cont.ol of these diseases. In this st.dy, we evaluat. the diagnost.c performance of our new in-house mult.plex Rt.qPCR method for det.ct.ng DENV serot.pes and CHIKV in an ext.rnal laborat.ry. Methodology: the evaluat.on st.dy was conduct.d on 200 clinical samples of suspect.d pat.ent. for arbovirus disease infect.on, collect.d in Cent.e de Recherche Biomoléculaire Piet.o Annigoni (CERBA), Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Our new mult.plex Rt.qPCR was compared t. the commercial kit. the Zika, Dengue, and Chikungunya (ZDC) Real-t.me PCR Assays kit.(Bio-Rad, California, USA). Result. and Conclusions: Among 200 samples, 21.5% (43/200) were DENV-posit.ve by mult.plex Rt.qPCR, and 21.5% (43/200) were also DENV-posit.ve by reference real-t.me Rt.PCR. 157 (78.5%) samples t.st.d negat.ve for DENV by both t.st. (new mRt.qPCR and reference t.st.. the sensit.vit. and specificit. of mRt.qPCR were 100%. the DENV serot.pes det.ct.d were DENV-1 60.5% (26/43) and DENV-3 39.5% (17/43). CHIKV was not.det.ct.d in this st.dy. Our new mRt.qPCR is sensit.ve, cost.effect.ve, simple, and can be used in developing count.y laborat.ries.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most.common cancer worldwide, account.ng for 6.8% of new cancer cases and 8.1% of cancer-relat.d deaths. About.85% of these deaths occurred in low- and middle-income count.ies. the aim of this st.dy was t. assess the frequency and dist.ibut.on of the human papillomavirus (HPV) genot.pes in women showing cyt.logical abnormalit.es of the cervix at.the Sourô SANOU Universit. Hospit.l (CHUSS) in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. this is a descript.ve st.dy of women recruit.d at.the CHUSS. the cervico-ut.rine smear examinat.on was carried out.at.the CHUSS Anat.my and Pathology Depart.ent.for cervical cancer screening. the dat. were collect.d from women with at.pical cells on their cervico-ut.rine smear. Cervicovaginal samples were t.ken from consent.ng women and HPV genot.ping was performed using the HPV Direct.FLOW CHIP kit.at.CERBA. We obt.ined approval from the ethics commit.ee. the dat. were analyzed using the SPSS 26 soft.are. the result. of the st.dy showed that.67.79% of the part.cipant. were aged bet.een 50 and 65, a group that.is part.cularly vulnerable t. persist.nt.infect.on with high-risk oncogenic HPV genot.pes. Of the women screened, 40.7% were HPV posit.ve and 29.2% had mult.ple infect.ons. the most.common genot.pes were HPV 35, followed by HPV 18, 52, 58 and 66. these dat. highlight.the need for increased surveillance and t.rget.d prevent.on st.at.gies among this female populat.on.

the spread of resist.nce t. ant.malarials is a major public health problem worldwide and especially in sub-Saharan Africa where the highest.morbidit. and mort.lit. rat.s are found with a crit.cal scarcit. of dat. on resist.nce. the object.ve of this review is t. describe the mut.t.ons in the pfdhfr, pfdhps and k13 genes associat.d with resist.nce t. art.misinin and Sulfadoxine-Pyrimethamine report.d in West.Africa during the decade 2007 t. 2017 followed by a met.-analysis of their prevalence. A bibliographic search on the MEDLINE, PubMed, EMBASE and Sciences Direct.dat.bases made it.possible t. find 405 scient.fic papers relat.ng t. resist.nce t. art.misinin and t. Sulfadoxine-Pyrimethamine during the period 2007-2017. the analysis has concerned 217 scient.fic art.cles aft.r the eliminat.on of duplicat.s with 57 art.cles included in this review aft.r the examinat.on of t.t.es and abst.act.. the result. of the present.review show that.the dhfr and dhps mut.nt. are widespread in sub-Saharan Africa. Although, Kelch 13 mut.nt. from Southeast.Asia associat.d with art.misinin resist.nce are st.ll absent.in West.Africa, st.dies have report.d the presence of synonymous or non-K13 mut.t.ons correlat.d with a delay in parasit. clearance in Burkina Faso (2.26%), Senegal (5.5%) and t.go (1.8%). the increased prevalence of dhfr and dhps mut.nt. in West.Africa could jeopardize it. use for int.rmit.ent.prevent.ve t.eat.ent.in the near fut.re. Despit. the absence of st.ains resist.nt.t. art.misinin-based combinat.on therapy in the West.African region, increased surveillance is necessary t. prevent.the rapid occurrence of possible resist.nce, especially in the cont.xt.of synonymous or non-K13 mut.t.ons correlat.d with a delay in parasit.c clearance.

Cancer is one of the deadliest.diseases in developing count.ies. In recent.years, nat.ral plant.based compounds have been used in the search for drugs t. combat.numerous diseases, including cancer. In this st.dy, we evaluat. the cyt.t.xic propert.es of paanfo t.ben 1 and paanfo t.ben 2, t.o t.adit.onal herbal formulat.ons from Burkina Faso used in the t.eat.ent.of cancer in Burkina Faso. t. this end, the recipes were infused and freeze-dried. the dry ext.act. obt.ined were used t. det.rmine t.t.l phenolics and flavonoids cont.nt. assess ant.oxidant.act.vit. using the DPPH, ABt. and FRAP methods, evaluat. ant.-inflammat.ry propert.es by inhibit.ng 15-LOX, COX 1 and 2, and assess cyt.t.xic act.vit. on HeLa cervical cancer and HePG2 liver cancer cell lines using the Mt. t.st. the paanfo t.ben 1 recipe showed the highest.levels of t.t.l phenolics and flavonoids, as well as the best.ant.oxidant.act.vit.es, with IC50 values of 21.020 ± 0.6 µg/ml and 22.94 ± 0.57 µg/ml for DPPH and ABt., and 165.15 mM EAA/mg dry ext.act.for FRAP. It.also exhibit.d the best.cyt.t.xic act.vit. with IC50 values of 112.02 ± 0.025 µg/ml on HeLa cells and 80.67 ± 6.08 µg/ml on HepG2 cells. On the other hand, paanfo t.ben 2 exhibit.d the best.ant.-inflammat.ry act.vit.es through inhibit.on of 15-LOX and COX 1, with inhibit.on percent.ges at.100 µg/ml of 32.523% and 24.717 % respect.vely. these result. could just.fy the t.adit.onal use of these t.o recipes by t.adit.onal health pract.t.oners in the t.eat.ent.of cancer sufferers in Burkina Faso.

Background: Glut.thione S-t.ansferases (GSt.) are mult.funct.onal enzymes which play an import.nt.role in oxidat.ve st.ess pathways by conjugat.on with glut.thione. Oxidat.ve st.ess is one of several risk fact.rs that.may be associat.d with many t.pes of diseases progression such as cancer and infect.ous diseases. In this st.dy, we invest.gat.d the associat.on bet.een the polymorphism of GSt.1 and GSt.1 genes and the risk of HIV-1 disease progression. Methods: We conduct.d a case-cont.ol st.dy including 313 part.cipant. of Burkina Faso: 153 HIV-1 infect.d individuals on ant.ret.oviral t.eat.ent.(ARt. and 160 HIV-1 negat.ve individuals as cont.ols. Presence or absence of the GSt.1 and GSt.1 genes was det.rmined using mult.plex polymerase chain react.on (PCR). CD4+ t.count. and HIV-1 viral load were measured in pat.ent. using respect.vely BD FACSCount.and Abbot. m2000rt.inst.ument.. Result.: Frequencies of GSt.1-null and GSt.1-null were 30.35% and 35.46% respect.vely and the frequency of double delet.on GSt.1-null/GSt.1-null was 14.38% in the general st.dy populat.on. GSt.1-null (30.35% versus 69.65%;OR = 1.90;p = 0.010), GSt.1-null (35.46% versus 64.54%;OR = 3.11;p GSt.1-act.ve/GSt.1-null (21.08% versus 48.56%;OR = 3.17;p GSt.1-null/GSt.1-null (14.38% versus 48.56%;OR = 4.46;p GSt.1-null and GSt.1-null/GSt.1-null were associat.d with increased odds of low CD4+ count.(3) and high HIV-1 viral load (≥1000 copies/mL). Conclusion: GSt.1-null, GSt.1-null genot.pe, the double genot.pes GSt.1-act.ve/GSt.1-null and GSt.1-null/GSt.1-null were associat.d with HIV-1 disease progression and GSt.1-null and GSt.1- null/GSt.1-null genot.pes were associat.d with low CD4+ t.cells count. and high HIV-1 viral load in HIV-1infect.d pat.ent. on ARt.

the biodegradabilit. of three alkylat.s （2,3-dimethylpent.ne, 2,4-dimethylpent.ne and 2,2,4-t.imethylpent.ne） under less agit.t.d aquifer condit.ons was invest.gat.d in this st.dy. All three alkylat.s biodegraded complet.ly under these condit.ons regardless of the presence or absence of ethanol or benzene, t.luene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes （Bt.X） in the feed. In the presence of ethanol, alkylat.s degradat.on was not.inhibit.d by ethanol. However, alkylat.s degraded more slowly in the presence of Bt.X suggest.ng compet.t.ve inhibit.on t. microbial ut.lizat.on of alkylat.s. In the st.rile cont.ols, alkylat.s concent.at.ons remained unchanged throughout.the experiment..

Glut.thione S-t.ansferase gene polymorphisms were det.rmined using convent.onal Polymerase Chain React.on followed by migrat.on on agarose gel. Int.oduct.on: Cervical cancer, caused by persist.nt.high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infect.on, remains a global public health problem. the cellular t.ansformat.on and maint.nance of the malignant.phenot.pe of these HPVs are at.ribut.d t. the viral oncoprot.ins E6 and E7. Object.ve: this st.dy aims t. det.ct.the presence of human papillomavirus DNA and E6/E7 oncoprot.in mRNA of HPV genot.pes 16, 18, 31 and 33 in cases of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions, hist.logically confirmed in Burkina Faso. Methods: this descript.ve cross-sect.onal st.dy focused on cases of cervical cancer and high-grade int.aepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and was conduct.d from June t. December 2022. One hundred (100) samples of fixed and paraffin-embedded t.ssues were collect.d from the pathological anat.my and cyt.logy laborat.ries of hospit.ls in the capit.l of Burkina Faso. High-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) DNA was det.ct.d using mult.plex real-t.me PCR, while the presence of E6 and E7 mRNA in cervical cancer and high-grade CIN samples was det.rmined using real-t.me Reverse t.anscript.se-PCR (Rt.PCR) with t.qMan probes. Result.: the mean age of women diagnosed with cervical cancer and high-grade CIN was 50.81 ± 13.65 years, ranging from 22 t. 82 years. Cervical cancer and high-grade CIN were posit.ve for at.least.one high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) in 80% of cases. the most.prevalent.genot.pes observed were HPV16, 18, 31, and 33, collect.vely account.ng for 70.08% of cases. Of the 89 samples that.t.st.d posit.ve for HR-HPV genot.pes 16, 18, 31, and 33, 88 (98.88%;95% CI: [94.58 - 99.94]) were also posit.ve for the presence of mRNA encoding the E6 and E7 oncoprot.ins of HPV16, 18, 31, and 33. Conclusion: In the presence of HPV DNA, t.st.ng for E6 and E7 oncoprot.in mRNA could serve as a promising biomarker and valuable t.ol for improved assessment.of the progression t. cervical cancer.
