A boronic acid-based anthracene fluorescent probe was functionalised with an acrylamide unit to incorporate into a hydrogel system for monosaccharide *** solution,the fluorescent probe displayed a strong fluorescence turn-on response upon exposure to fructose,and an expected trend in apparent binding constants,as judged by a fluorescence response where D-fructose>D-galactose>D-mannose>*** hydrogel incorporating the boronic acid monomer demonstrated the ability to detect monosaccharides by fluorescence with the same overall trend as the monomer in solution with the addition of D-fructose resulting in a 10-fold enhancement(≤0.25 mol/L).

Buildings represent a significant share of the world’s energy consumption,and the sector has drawn the attention of governments,which have adopted policies to reduce energy *** Certifications of Energy Efficiency in Buildings stand out as one possible solution to achieve this goal,employed in several countries *** European Union presents advanced energy assessment programs for buildings,being a reference and model for several other regulations in the *** Energy Certification system for Buildings(sCE)of Portugal is considered a success case,reflected in the significant number of energy certificates *** Brazilian Labeling Program for Building(PBE Edifica),first launched in 2009,does not find a broad application today in the Brazilian *** work shows a synthesis of the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive(EPBD)and the Brazilian and Portuguese regulations’history.A qualitative comparison is made between the sCE and the PBE Edifica to verify a European and a developing country’s regulations with a certain degree of cultural and climatic *** this comparison,proposals are made for improvements to Brazilian certification,seeking to improve its energy planning and energy policy concerning its building *** suggestions for improvement presented may also be appropriate for other developing countries that have started and have not yet successfully implemented their energy certification programs in buildings.

structural,optical and magnetic properties are reported for new synthesized perovskite ***_(0.3)La_(0.7)Ti_(0.3)Fe_(0.7)O_(3) and Ba_(0.1)La_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)Fe_(0.9)O_(3) compositions were prepared via solid state reaction.X-ray analysis confirms that both compositions show feature of perovskite *** refinement method was used to confirm the phase formation and investigate the structure and space *** study demonstrates the formation of orthorhombic structure with Pnma space group for Ba_(0.3)La_(0.7)Ti_(0.3)Fe_(0.7)O_(3) while the composition Ba_(0.1)La_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)Fe_(0.9)O_(3) structure adopts Pbnm ***–vis spectroscopy measurements show very broad and intense UV–visible light absorption,the estimated band gap ranges between 2.07 and 2.15 *** measurements were carried out for the compositions Ba_(0.3)La_(0.7)Ti_(0.3)Fe_(0.7)O_(3) and Ba_(0.1)La_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)Fe_(0.9)O_(3).The hysteresis loops of both samples at 300 and 10 K show a strong ferromagnetic *** temperature dependent magnetization at 0.05 T under field-cooled(FC)and zero field cooled(ZFC)modes shows magnetic frustration or spin glass-like behavior.

Early microrecanalization of vas deferens following biodegradable graft implantation in bilaterally vasectomized rats

We evaluated a biodegradable graft for reconstruction of rat vasa deferentia with long obstructed or missing segments. A total of 47 sprague-Dawley rats underwent bilateral vasectomy and were divided into groups according to length of the vas deferens affected （0.5, 1, 1.5 cm）. After 8 weeks, poly-（D,L-lactide）（PDLA） grafts were used to reconnect the vas deferens, Grafts and adjoining vasa deferentia were excised 8 and 12 weeks later and evaluated microscopically. At 8 weeks, microscopic changes included a robust inflammatory response around the grafts. All grafts were still intact but in the early stages of degradation. No microtubules, indicative of vas deferens recanalization, were identified. One specimen showed evidence of healing and neovascularization at the interface zone between the vas deferens and the graft. At 12 weeks, grafts were further degraded but still present. Microscopic evaluation showed decreased inflammation. seven specimens showed neovascularization at the interface zone; two of these showed distinct epithelialized vas deferens microcanals at the graft edges. One specimen showed a microcanal spanning the entire 0.5-cm graft. A time period of 8 weeks is not ample enough for vas deferens regeneration in the setting of a biodegradable PDLA graft; however, early evidence of re-growth was seen at 12 weeks. A longer healing time should permit further biodegradation of the graft, as well as re-growth and possible eventual reconnection of the vas deferens, allowing passage of sperm. These findings suggest a potential role for biodegradable grafts in the reconstruction ofvas deferens with long obstructed segments.

Background:The relationship between diet and intestinal microbiota and mucin composition appears to be fundamental for poultry gut *** effects of insect meal(whose role as alternative feed ingredient is now well recognized)on gut microbiota and mucin composition have recently been reported in Tenebrio molitor-fed free-range and broiler chickens,but no data are currently available for Hermetia illucens(HI)-fed *** present study evaluated the effects of dietary HI meal inclusion on cecal microbiota and intestinal mucin composition of broiler ***:A total of 256 male broiler chickens were allotted to 4 dietary treatments(control diet[C]and 5%,10%and 15%HI meal inclusion,with 8 replicate pens/treatment and 8 birds/pen)and slaughtered at 35 d of age(2 animals/pen,16 birds/diet).The cecal microbiota assessment by 16s rRNA amplicon based sequencing showed lower alpha diversity in HI15 chickens(shannon,Psity(Adonis and ANOsIM,Ps fed HI diets than ***,HI15 birds displayed significant increase of the relative abundance of Proteobacteria phylum(False Discovery Rate[FDR]s(Ruminococcus from Lachnospiraceae family),Faecalibacterium,Blautia and Clostridium genera were found to be characteristic of HI5 cecal microbiota(FDRs fed HI10 and HI15 diets were characterized(FDRs and Ruminococcus(HI10)and Bacteroides,Roseburia and Helicobacter genera(HI15).Periodic-acid schiff,Alcian Blue pH 2.5 and high iron diamine staining on small and large intestine also demonstrated lower mucin staining intensity in the intestinal villi of HI10 and HI15 birds than C(Psions:Dietary HI meal utilization at low inclusion levels(i.e.,5%)positively influenced either the cecal microbiota or the gut mucin dynamics in terms of selection of potentially beneficial bacteria and increase in villi ***,high inclusion levels(in

Background: The constant interaction between diet and intestinal barrier has a crucial role in determining gut health in pigs. Hermetia illucens(HI) meal(that represents a promising, alternative feed ingredient for production animals) has recently been demonstrated to influence colonic microbiota, bacterial metabolite profile and mucosal immune status of pigs, but no data about modulation of gut mucin dynamics are currently available. The present study evaluated the effects of dietary HI meal inclusion on the small intestinal mucin composition of piglets, as well as providing insights into the cecal microbiota and the mucosal infiltration with immune ***: A total of 48 weaned piglets were randomly allotted to 3 dietary treatments(control diet [C] and 5% or10% HI meal inclusion [HI5 and HI10], with 4 replicate boxes/treatment and 4 animals/box) and slaughtered after61 days of trial(3 animals/box, 12 piglets/diet).
