The liver is a unique parenchymal organ with a regenerative capacity allowing it to restore up to 70%of its *** knowledge of this phenomenon dates back to Greek mythology(the story of Prometheus),many aspects of liver regeneration are still not understood.A variety of different factors,including inflammatory cytokines,growth factors,and bile acids,promote liver regeneration and control the final size of the organ during typical regeneration,which is performed by mature hepatocytes,and during alternative regeneration,which is performed by recently identified resident stem cells called“hepatic progenitor cells”.Hepatic progenitor cells drive liver regeneration when hepatocytes are unable to restore the liver mass,such as in cases of chronic injury or excessive acute *** liver maintenance,the body mass ratio is essential for homeostasis because the liver has numerous functions;therefore,a greater understanding of this process will lead to better control of liver injuries,improved transplantation of small grafts and the discovery of new methods for the treatment of liver *** current review sheds light on the key molecular pathways and cells involved in typical and progenitor-dependent liver mass regeneration after various acute or chronic *** studies and a better understanding of liver regeneration will lead to the development of new therapeutic methods for liver diseases.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the most common chronic liver disease,leading to fibrosis,cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma and also associated with increased cardiovascular disease *** pathogenesis of NAFLD is not fully understood,although NAFLD is thought to be a hepatic form of metabolic *** is an increasing understanding of the role of microbiota disturbances in NAFLD pathogenesis,and as with many other conditions affecting the microbiota,NAFLD may be a novel risk factor for Clostridioides difficile(***)colonization(CDC)and *** infection(CDI).CDI is an emerging nosocomial disease,and community-acquired cases of infection are growing,probably due to an increase in CDC *** association of NAFLD with CDI has been shown in only 4 studies to date,three of which included less than 1000 patients,although the frequency of NAFLD in these studies was observed in almost 20%of the total patient *** data revealed that NAFLD is a risk factor for CDI development and,moreover,is a risk factor for intestinal complications of *** studies are needed to investigate this association and move forward CDC and CDI screening efforts for this group of patients.

Inpatient management of iron deficiency anemia in pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease: A single center experience

BACKGROUND screening for iron deficiency anemia(IDA)is important in managing pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Concerns related to adverse reactions may contribute to a reluctance to prescribe intravenous(IV)iron to treat IDA in this *** To track the efficacy and safety of IV iron therapy in treating IDA in pediatric IBD patients admitted to our *** A longitudinal observational cohort study was performed on 236 consecutive pediatric patients admitted to our tertiary IBD care center between september 2017 and December 2019.92 patients met study criteria for IDA,of which 57 received IV iron,17 received oral iron,and 18 were discharged prior to receiving iron *** Patients treated with IV iron during their hospitalization experienced a significant increase of 1.9(±0.2)g/dL in mean(±sE)hemoglobin(Hb)concentration by the first ambulatory follow-up,compared to patients who received oral iron 0.8(±0.3)g/dL or no iron 0.8(±0.3)g/dL(P=0.03).One out of 57(1.8%)patients that received IV iron therapy experienced an adverse *** Our findings demonstrate that treatment with IV iron therapy is safe and efficacious in improving Hb and iron levels in pediatric patients with IDA and active IBD.

3,6-Bis-β-Dicarbonylsubstituted Carbazoles Bearing N-spacers and Their Eu(III) Complexes as Immunofluorescent Labelling Agents

New reagents for immunofluorescence analysis of carbazole series containing fluorinated β-dicarbonyl fragments and carboxylic substituent groups separated by spacers of different lengths from the light-gathering carbazole scaffold have been developed. The markers in complex with Eusup>3+sup> ions possess stability in the aqueous phase, intense and prolonged luminescence (τ 550 - 570 μs) with characteristic emission maxima in the region of 615 nm and excitation wavelengths in the region of 380 - 390 nm, which distinguishes them from most of the analogs used. In the study of marker conjugation with streptavidin, a reagent containing 4 - 5 europium labeling complexes based on spacer-containing carbazole tetraketone was obtained. The marker-doped silicate nanoparticles exhibit intense and long-lived luminescence in the characteristic region.

Long-term biopotential monitoring requires high-performance biocompatible wearable dry *** currently,it is challenging to establish a form-preserving fit with the skin,resulting in high interface impedance and motion *** research aims to present an innovative solution using an all-green organic dry electrode that eliminates the aforementioned *** dry electrode is prepared by introducing biocompatible maltitol into the chosen conductive polymer,poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate).Thanks to the secondary doping and plasticizer effect of maltitol,the dry electrode exhibits good stretchability(62%),strong self-adhesion(0.46 N/cm),high conductivity(102 s/cm),and low Young's modulus(7 MPa).It can always form a conformal contact with the skin even during body *** with good electrical properties,the electrode enables a lower skin contact impedance compared to the current standard Ag/AgCl gel ***,the application of this dry electrode in bioelectrical signal measurement(electromyography,electrocardiography,electroencephalogra-phy)and long-term biopotential monitoring was successfully demonstrated.

structure and heterogeneity of habitat determine diet of predators despite prey abundance:similar response in Long-eared,short-eared Owls and Common Kestrels

According to one of the theses of optimal foraging theory,main prey species abundance in the hunting area is the main factor determining the diet and habitat choices of birds of *** other factors can also be *** habitat structure influences the predators’diets as *** this study we examined the influence of habitat structure on diet compositions of three species of birds:Long-eared Owl(Asio otus),short-eared Owl(***)and Common Kestrel(Falco tinnunculus).The study was carried out from 2007 to 2019 in a 48 km2area of the Crane’s Homeland Reserve,Moscow Region,*** habitat structures of model species’hunting territories(ratio of different types of landscape elements)were classified in module"semi-Automatic Classification Plugin"based on the QGIs.A boosted regression tree analysis identified that the share of the main prey species in the diet is primarily determined by the landscape structure of hunting *** largest share of Common Vole(Microtus arvalis)in birds’diet was determined by the shrubs area(15%of hunting area),the meadow area(75%),the habitat heterogeneity(70%)and the arable land area(5%).The same predictors determined the largest share of Root Vole(Microtus oeconomus):the shrubs area 25%,the meadow area 70%,and the arable land area 3%.The annual mean abundance of prey species did not determine their importance in the diet of birds of ***,the main prey abundance in the hunting area is not a determining factor for the formation of diet composition of birds of prey.
