N-Terminal Pro-BNP in Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients with ST elevation versus Non ST elevation Myocardial Infarction

The study aimed to evaluate the differences in secretion of NT-proBNP and conventional cardiac markers in patients with STE-ACS vs NSTE-ACS as a trial to solve the dilemma of the early detection of myocardial ischemia in NSTE-ACS. Sixty two patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) divided into 2 groups according to ECG: group1 with elevated ST segment in ECG (STE-ACS) and group 2 with non elevated ST segment (NSTE-ACS).Twenty healthy subjects with matched age and sex were enrolled as control group in this study. In the sera of all subjects, levels of NT –proBNP, CK-MB and troponin-T were measured by different kits. CK-MB and TnT were both significantly higher in STE-ACS patients compared to NSTE-ACS patients. Conversely, NT-proBNP was significantly higher in NSTE-ACS patients than STE-ACS especially within 4 hours from onset of chest pain. Comparison between NT-proBNP, TnT and CK-MB levels by ROC curves revealed area under the curves = 0.68, 0.31, 0.17 respectively. NT-proBNP at cutoff 415 pg/mL in NSTE-ACS patients had higher sensitivity and specificity (92%, 39%;respectively) than other markers that will help in earl diagnosis of NSTE-ACS.

Performance Assessment of Some Flax (Linum usitatissimumL.) Varieties Using Cluster Analysis under Sandy Soil Conditions

To assess the performance and the variability of 49 flax varieties based on agronomic parameters using cluster analysis, a field experiment was conducted in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 winter seasons at the farm of the National Research Center at Nubria district, Albehira Governorate, Egypt. The results revealed high significant difference among all flax varieties in all the studied characters. Letwania-9 and Evelen cultivars surpassed all other varieties in seed and oil yields/fed. On the other hand, D variety gave the lowest value of seed yield/fed and F variety gave the lowest values of oil% and oil yield/fed. While, G Variety surpassed all other varieties in straw yield/fed. Blanka variety recorded the lowest values of straw yield/fed and biological yield/fed, while, Posna variety gave the lowest values of technical stem length (cm). In cluster analysis, all the studied characters were used to construct a distance matrix using the Euclidian coefficient, and generate dendrogram showing dissimilarity among all the varieties. Distance coefficient was ranged from 1.2 between Piltstar and Litwania-1 varieties and 10.8 between Posna and G varieties, which reveal the genetic diversity among varieties. The varieties can be divided into 4 groups based on cluster analysis.

The control of balance is crucial for efficiently performing most of our daily motor tasks, such as those involving goal-directed arm movements or whole body displacement. The purpose of this article is twofold. Firstly, it is to recall how balance can be maintained despite the different sources of postural perturbation arising during voluntary movement. The importance of the so-called "anticipatory postural adjustments"(APA), taken as a "line of defence" against the destabilizing effect induced by a predicted perturbation, is emphasized. Secondly, it is to report the results of recent studies that questioned the adaptability of APA to various constraints imposed on the postural system. The postural constraints envisaged here are classified into biomechanical(postural stability, superimposition of motor tasks),(neuro) physiological(fatigue), temporal(time pressure) and psychological(fear of falling, emotion). Overall, the results of these studies point out the capacity of the central nervous system(CNS) to adapt the spatio-temporal features of APA to each of theseconstraints. However, it seems that, depending on the constraint, the "priority" of the CNS was focused on postural stability maintenance, on body protection and/or on maintenance of focal movement performance.

Background: Milk is a healthy human nutrient, which is fermented to yogurt by lactic acid bacteria, mainly Streptococcus salivarius ssp, thermophilus and Lactobacillus. delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus. This study aimed to isolate thermophilic starter bacteria from homemade yogurt made in Gaza Strip. The study sought to define both the biochemical and molecular characteristics of the isolated bacteria. Results: Three of the isolates were identified as Streptococcus thermophiles while two isolates were recognized as Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus. All five identified isolates showed worthy acidification capacity. Based on these characters, strains were applied for making yogurt either as single pure cultures or as mixed cultures. When using mixed cultures from S. thermophiles and L. bulgaricus, all tested combinations showed positive results. Conclusion: Isolated strains showed remarkable biotechnological characters. The isolates are expected to stimulate and improve quality of the yogurt when they are used as mixed starter cultures.

Aggregates are the biggest contributor to concrete volume and are a crucial parameter in dictating its mechanical *** such,a detailed experimental investigation was carried out to evaluate the effect of sand-toaggregate volume ratio(s/a)on the mechanical properties of concrete utilizing both destructive and non-destructive testing(employing UPV(ultrasonic pulse velocity)measurements).For investigation,standard cylindrical concrete samples were made with different s/a(0.36,0.40,0.44,0.48,0.52,and 0.56),cement content(340 and 450 kg/m^(3)),water-to-cement ratio(0.45 and 0.50),and maximum aggregate size(12 and 19 mm).The effect of these design parameters on the 7,14,and 28 d compressive strength,tensile strength,elastic modulus,and UPV of concrete were *** careful analysis demonstrates that aggregate proportions and size need to be optimized for formulating mix designs;optimum ratios of s/a were found to be 0.40 and 0.44 for the maximum aggregate size of 12 and 19 mm,respectively,irrespective of the W/C(water-to-cement)and cement content.

Although gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs)are rare,with an incidence of 1/100000 per year,they are the most common sarcomas in the peritoneal *** considerable progress in the diagnosis and treatment of GIST,about half of all patients are estimated to experience *** only two drugs,sunitinib and regorafenib,approved by the Food and Drug Administration,selecting treatment options after imatinib failure and coordinating multidisciplinary care remain *** addition,physicians across the Middle East face some additional and unique challenges such as lack of published local data from clinical trials,national disease registries and regional scientific research,limited access to treatment,lack of standardization of care,and limited access to mutational *** global guidelines set a framework for the management of GIST,there are no standard local guidelines to guide clinical practice in a resource-limited ***,a group of 11 experienced medical oncologists from across the Gulf and Levant region,part of the Rare Tumors Gastrointestinal Group,met over a period of one year to conduct a narrative review of the management of GIST and to describe regional challenges and gaps in patient management as an essential step to proposing local clinical practice recommendations.

Influence OF anticancer drugs on DNA methylation in liver of female mice

Epigenetic changes such as DNA methylation regulate gene expression in normal development. Methotrexate and Adriamycine are antineoplastic drugs that target DNA and enzymes acting on DNA. We aimed to evaluate their cytotoxic effect on cell lines and on female mice to investigate the in vivo influence of both drugs on the DNA methylation and subsequently the protein expression. The total level of DNA methylation showed a significant reduction from 62.2% to 36.7%, 36.6% as compared to control group, when using different doses of MTX and ADR. Hepatic protein pattern revealed five bands with low MW (16 - 6.1 KDa) in acute and LD50 doses. In conclusion DNA methylation is influenced by anticancer drugs in a dose - dependent manner. Some specific protein fragments may be considered as a potential markers associated with high dose of anticancer drugs.

In this paper experiments and theoretical treatments [1] on 1.5 KJ coaxial plasma discharge device have been carried out to show, plasma current sheath, PCS, motion in coaxial plasma discharge by studying: the effect of nitrogen gas pressure in the range from 1 to 2.2 Torr and the axial position of PCS along the coaxial electrodes on the modification factor, actual drive parameter, PCS curvature and shape (thickness). Also the dynamics of PCS along the coaxial electrodes due to the combination effect of induced azimuthal and axial magnetic fields induction has been detected experimentally by using a magnetic probe technique.
