Siberian apricot(Prunus sibirica L.)is a traditional nut tree species in East Asia and Siberia and is a possible contribution to healthy ***,it has attracted little research attention and information on the nutritional value of its kernel is *** this study,the profile,nutritional value and variation of amino acids were investigated in eight *** kernels contained29×10-2 g/g protein and were rich in glutamic acid(26.5%),aspartic acid(11.3%)and arginine(10.1%).They showed higher essential amino acids(EAA)than similar protein values for *** variation coefficients of amino acids ranged from 3.8 to 43.7%,and the levels of seven amino acids were significantly different among the eight *** proportion of essential amino acids to total amino acids and amino acid score were also quite *** was negatively correlated with some amino acids and protein quality *** conclusion,there were two superior provenances(Wanjiagou and Horinger County)with high EAA contents and protein quality,and could be used in the large-scale development of this species.

Groundnut(Arachis hypogaea L.)is a high economic value oil crop commonly grown in low-land semi-arid areas of *** crop production is constrained by low soil fertility;however,the nutrient management practice has been given low *** study was therefore conducted during the main cropping season of 2015/2016 at Babile and Fedis sites of East Hararghe,Ethiopia to evaluate the growth,nodulation,and yield response of groundnut varieties to the application of combined mineral nitrogen,phosphorus,and vermicompost fertilizers,and *** consisted of a factorial combination of three varieties(Ba-ha-Gudo,Ba-ha-Jidu,and Roba);three fertilizers combinations(0:0 kg N:POhawith no VC,46:46 kg N:POhawith no VC,and 46:46 kg N:POhawith 2.5 t VC ha);and three rates of Zn(0,5,and 10 kg Zn ha)in a randomized complete block design at both *** growth,nodulation,yield components,and yield data were subjected to analysis by *** result revealed that plant height was significantly affected by variety and fertilizers combination,the number of branches plant-1affected by the interaction of variety and fertilizers combination while canopy spread and nodulation parameters were affected by the interaction of variety,fertilizers combination,and Zn *** plant-1and hundred seed weight,dry biomass,pod and seed yields,and seed oil content were significantly affected by the interaction of variety,fertilizers combination,and Zn *** highest dry biomass(7.26 t ha),pod(3.13 t ha),seed(2.16 t ha)yields and seed oil content(51.3%),net benefit($1704.2 ha)with a marginal rate of return of 242%were obtained from variety Ba-ha Gudo received the combined application of 46:46 kg N:POhaand 2.5 t VC hawith 5 kg Zn ***,it can be concluded that the Ba-ha Gudo variety is preferably produced using the combined application of 46:46 kg N:POhaand 2.5 t VC hawith 5kg Zn hafor high productivity in the study sites and similar agro-ecologies.

Increasing evidence indicates that long non- coding RNAs （IncRNAs） play pivotal roles in regulatory networks controlling plant and animal gene expression. However, IncRNA roles in regulating rubber biosynthesis in Eucommia ulmoides, an emerging source of natural rubber （Eu-rubber）, are currently unknown. Here, we report on RNA deep-sequencing of E. ulmoides fruits at two developmental stages. Based on application of a stringent pipeline, 29,1o3 IncRNAs and 9,048 transcripts of uncertain coding potential （TUCPs） were *** differentially expressed （DE）TUCPs appear to simultaneously regulate 12 protein-coding genes involved in Eu-rubber biosynthesis （GIEBs）, as well as 95 DE genes. Functional categorization of these 95 DE genes indicated their involvement in subcellular microstructures and cellular processes, such as cell wall, cell division, and growth. These DE genes may participate in the differentiation and development of laticifers, where Eu-rubber is synthesized. A model is proposed in which ＂commanders＂（DE TUCPs） direct the ＂builders＂（DE genes） to construct a ＂storehouse＂ of materials needed for Eu-rubber synthesis, and the ＂workers＂（GIEBs） to synthesize Eu-rubber. These findings provide insights into both cis- and trans-polyisoprene biosynthesis in plants, laying the foundation for additional studies of this crucial process.

The ear-shaped thermal front （ESTF）, formed by the convergence of the Yellow Sea Warm Current （YSWC） and the Shandong Coastal Current （SCC）, is a very important oceanic phenomenon in the Yellow Sea （YS） in winter. In situ measurements and reanalysis datasets all demonstrate that the ESTF has been weakening during 1950s-1990s, and a similar weakening trend is also found in winter monsoon over the YS. Numerical experiments show that the weakening of winter monsoon can induce an anomalous circulation in the YS on multi-decadal timescale with northward anomalous currents along China＇s coast and southward anomalous currents in the central YS--generally opposite to seasonal mean circulation. The anomalous circulation causes slowdown of the YSWC and the SCC, and thus weakens the ESTF. Since the ESTF plays important roles in regional ocean dynamics and air-sea interactions, its weakening has important implications for regional climate in the YS in winter.

Limestones are generally vulnerable to various weathering effects, hence, protection and consolidation of them is necessary. Locally available limestones of Northern Cyprus have been used in both historical buildings dated back to the 16th century for conservation applications and new buildings mostly as a cladding material. However, certain decay patterns exist on these stones. In the current study, the service life of Cyprus stones was inspected. Alkoxysilane-based consolidation and protection treatments were applied on new quarried stones to enhance the stone properties and aged stones to conserve and protect the architectural heritage. Service life assessment was performed by applying accelerated aging tests on both new and aged stones before and after treatments. The treatments improved the physical, mechanical and durability properties of the stones in terms of unchanging the water vapor diffusion resistance factor, decreasing the porosity and the water absorption ratio, increasing the ultrasound pulse velocity, the compressive and the flexural strengths, and improving the resistance of the stones against wetting-drying, freeze-thaw, salt crystallization and SO2 vapour effects. The combination of consolidation and protection treatment (K2) was more efficient on the properties of the stones compared to only protection treatment (K1) due to the better penetration capacity, higher decreasing ratio of the porosity, and higher improvement of the physical, mechanical and durability proper-ties. The treatments also improved the properties of the aged stones;thus, it may be inferred that treatment would benefit the conservation of historical buildings.

Derivation of salt content in salinized soil from hyperspectral reflectance data: A case study at Minqin Oasis, Northwest China

Soil salinization is a serious ecological and environmental problem because it adversely affects sustainable development worldwide, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. It is crucial and urgent that advanced technologies are used to efficiently and accurately assess the status of salinization processes. Case studies to determine the relations between particular types of salinization and their spectral reflectances are essential because of the distinctive characteristics of the reflectance spectra of particular salts. During April 2015 we collected surface soil samples(0–10 cm depth) at 64 field sites in the downstream area of Minqin Oasis in Northwest China, an area that is undergoing serious salinization. We developed a linear model for determination of salt content in soil from hyperspectral data as follows. First, we undertook chemical analysis of the soil samples to determine their soluble salt contents. We then measured the reflectance spectra of the soil samples, which we post-processed using a continuum-removed reflectance algorithm to enhance the absorption features and better discriminate subtle differences in spectral features. We applied a normalized difference salinity index to the continuum-removed hyperspectral data to obtain all possible waveband pairs. Correlation of the indices obtained for all of the waveband pairs with the wavebands corresponding to measured soil salinities showed that two wavebands centred at wavelengths of 1358 and 2382 nm had the highest sensitivity to salinity. We then applied the linear regression modelling to the data from half of the soil samples to develop a soil salinity index for the relationships between wavebands and laboratory measured soluble salt content. We used the hyperspectral data from the remaining samples to validate the model. The salt content in soil from Minqin Oasis were well produced by the model. Cadmium pollution enhanced ozone damage to winter wheat:biochemical and physiological evidences

Combined effects of ozone （O3） and cadmium （Cd） on growth and physiology of winter wheat （Triticum aestivum L. cv. JM22） were determined. Wheat plants were grown without or with Cd and exposed to charcoal-filtered air （〈 10 ppb O3） or elevated O3 （80 ＋ 5 ppb, 7 hr/day） for 20 days. Results showed that O3 considerably depressed light saturated net photosynthetic rate （-20%）, stomatal conductance （-33%）, chlorophyll content （-33%）, and total biomass （-29%） without Cd. The corresponding decreases were further enhanced by 45%, 56%, 60% and 59%, respectively with Cd, indicating a synergistic effect of O3 and Cd on wheat. Ozone significantly increased the activity of superoxide dismutase （46%）, catalase （48%） and peroxidase （56%）. However, great increases in malondialdehyde （MDA） content （2.55 folds） and intercellular CO2 concentration （1.13 folds） were noted in O3＋Cd treatment compared to control. Our findings demonstrated that the increased anti-oxidative activities in wheat plants exposed to O3＋Cd might not be enough to overcome the adverse effects of the combination of both pollutants as evidenced by further increase in MDA content, which is an important indicator of lipid peroxidation. Precise prediction model on O3 damages to crop should be conducted to ensure agricultural production security by considering environmental constraints in an agricultural system in peri-urban regions.
