Antimony chalcogenide Sb_(2)(S, Se)_(3) is attracting a lot of attention as photovoltaic absorber owing to its rewarding photoelectric properties, low toxicity, and earth abundance. However, its device efficiency is still limited by the absorber material quality and device interface recombination. In this work, a fluorinedoped tin oxide(FTO) substrate with ultra-thin SnO_(2) layer and a low-cost stabilized carbon paste are introduced as a front and back contact layer respectively in Sb_(2)(S, Se)_(3) based planar solar cells. Over 5.2% efficiency is demonstrated in the structure of FTO/SnO_(2)/Cd S/Sb_(2)(S, Se)_3/Carbon/Ag, where the Sb_(2)(S, Se)_(3) is prepared by hydrothermal technique. The complementary device physics characterizations reveal that the interfacial recombination between TCO and Cd S is significantly suppressed by the introduction of ultra-thin SnO_(2) layer, which is profited from the leakage protection and bandgap offset engineering by its high resistivity and suitable conduction band minimum. Meanwhile, the successful adoption of the lowcost stabilized carbon as a back contact here shows an enormous potential to replace the conventional organic hole transport materials and noble metal. We hope this work can provide positive guidance to optimize Sb_(2)(S, Se)_(3) based planar solar cells in the future.

Optimization of Fermentation Medium for Epothilones Production with Sequential Statistical Approach

A sequential statistical approach was applied to optimizing the fermentation medium of epothilones（Epos） production by means of a mutant which was obtained by treating polyangium cellulosum ATCC 15384 with nitrite and ultraviolet. The effects of different carbon sources and nitrogen sources on the fermentation medium were tested, and the suitable ones were selected. Then a uniform design was employed to design the experiments. A linear model was developed for identifying the significant components in fermentation medium, while a third degree polynomial model was used for studying the relationship between the concentration of the components in fermentation medium and the yield of Epos（YEPs）. A pattern search method was used for searching the optimum fermentation medium in the test space, which was as follows（g/L）： potassium nitrate 8.00, soybean peptone 17.60, potassium hydrogen phos- phate 1.00, beef extraction 6.46, yeast extraction 1.00, calcium chloride 0.25, sodium chloride 1.00 and ferric chloride 0.02. The optimum fermentation medium was expected to result in a yield of Epos（YEPs） of 2.48 mg/L. The validation experiments with the optimum medium were performed in triplicate and the average yield of Epos was 2.45 mg/L which was 7.78 times higher than that of Epos prepared without optimization.

Right heart thrombus(RHTh) with concurrent acute pulmonary embolism(PE) is rare and can seriously destabilize hemodynamics, leading to an emergency situation with high mortality. Diagnosis and treatment of RHTh with acute PE are not yet standardized. There are few reports of acute PE concurrent with RHTh and even less is known about patients with a right heart mural thrombus. For physicians, the diagnostic choice and treatment of these patients are particularly difficult due to the lack of knowledge. Here, we report a rare case of partial mural RHTh(type C RHTh) with acute PE. The mural mass in the right heart was initially diagnosed as atrial myxoma according to transthoracic echocardiography(TTE), and both pulmonary embolus and the mural mass were completely absorbed after administering Rivaroxiban. This case suggests that TTE alone is insufficient to identify and diagnoses a right heart mural mass such as this. However, novel oral anticoagulants may be effective at alleviating PE with type C RHTh.

Interest in ion channels as drug targets for contraception has grown with the realization that certain ion channel subunits are located exclusively in sperm. Selective knockdown of ion channel subunits can lead to infertility without ill effects, and selective inhibitors and/ or openers of these ion channels could interfere with sperm function. In this study, in vivo electmporation （EP） and rete testis microinjection-mediated plasmid DNA were adopted to silence CatSper2 expression, which is essential in sperm hyperactivation. The results showed that high transfection efficiency and expression were achieved by plasmid DNA that was directly injected into the rete testis. As a result of the expression of CatSper2 being blocked, the treatment group showed significantly lower （P〈0.05） hyperactivation rate, fertilization rate in vitro, migration motility in viscoelastic solution and intracellular Ca2＋ peak. The low hyperactivation and fertilization rates lasted for 60 days. Meanwhile, analysis of the sperm survival rate and testis histology indicated that in vivo EP had no significant effect on the function of the testis, spermatogenesis or sperm activity. The present study demonstrated that it was feasible to achieve male contraception by silencing the expression of CatSper2, the key protein involved in sperm hvoeractivation.

Molecular and functional comparisons of the vacuolar Na^+/H^+ exchangers originated from glycophytic and halophytic species

A novel vacuolar Na+/H+ exchanger, CgNHX1, was cloned from a halophytic species Chenopodium glaucum by using reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) technique. Sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis of 22 NHX genes from GenBank as well as the new CgNHX1 gene indicate that NHX genes shared a great degree of similarity, regardless of their glycophytic or halophytic origin. Expression of the CgNHX1 gene was induced by NaCl and peaked at 400 mmol/L NaCl. Overexpression of NHX1 genes in rice enhanced their tolerance to salt stress. However, there is no significant difference in salt tolerance among the transgenic rice plants overexpressing the NHX1 genes from either glycophytic or halophytic species. The Na+ content of both the wild type (WT) and transgenic plants increased when exposed to 50 and 100 mmol/L NaCl, and the Na+ concentration in transgenic plants was marginally higher than that of WT. Our data demonstrate that the overexpression of the NHX1 gene from either glycophytic or halophytic species resulted in the enhanced tolerance to salt stress at a similar level, suggesting that NHX gene per se might not be the reason accounting for the difference in salt tolerance between glycophytes and halophytes.

Functional recovery after oculomotor nerve injury is very poor. Electrical stimulation has been shown to promote regeneration of injured nerves. We hypothesized that electrical stimulation would improve the functional recovery of injured oculomotor nerves. Oculomotor nerve injury models were created by crushing the right oculomotor nerves of adult dogs. Stimulating electrodes were positioned in both proximal and distal locations of the lesion, and non-continuous rectangular, biphasic current pulses （0.7 V, 5 Hz） were administered 1 hour daily for 2 consecutive weeks. Analysis of the results showed that electrophysiological and morphological recovery of the injured oc- ulomotor nerve was enhanced, indicating that electrical stimulation improved neural regeneration. Thus, this therapy has the potential to promote the recovery of oculomotor nerve dysfunction.

With the rapid development of high-strength low-alloy(HSLA)steel,Nb as an important microalloying element has received more and more attention in recent *** application and behavior of Nb in HSLA steel,including microstructures optimization,refining grain size,and precipitation behavior of Nb-containing phases,were *** could play an important role in following manners:(1)Nb-containing phases promote ferrite formation,and Nb solute promotes bainite formation.(2)Nb solute atoms and Nb-containing phases can inhibit the growth of austenite grains and austenite recrystallization.(3)Nb(C,N)that precipitates in ferrite/bainite can provide more significant strengthening contribution(more than 300 MPa)than that in austenite(about 100 MPa).Some reasonable suggestions for the production of Nb-bearing HSLA steel with excellent mechanical properties were put forward.
