In this research work,an efficient sign language recognition tool for e-learning has been proposed with a new type of feature set based on angle and *** feature set has the ability to increase the overall performance of machine learning algorithms in an efficient *** hand gesture recognition based on these features has been implemented for usage in *** feature set used hand landmarks,which were generated using media-pipe(MediaPipe)and open computer vision(openCV)on each frame of the incoming *** overall algorithm has been tested on two well-known ASLalphabet(American Sign Language)and ISL-HS(Irish Sign Language)sign language *** machine learning classifiers including random forest,decision tree,and naïve Bayesian have been used to classify hand gestures using this unique feature set and their respective results have been *** the random forest classifier performed better,it has been selected as the base classifier for the proposed *** showed 96.7%accuracy with ISL-HS and 93.7%accuracy with ASL-alphabet dataset using the extracted features.

BACKGROUND The management of high-grade pancreatic trauma is *** To review our single-institution experience on the surgical management of blunt and penetrating pancreatic *** A retrospective review of records was performed on all patients undergoing surgical intervention for high-grade pancreatic injuries [American Association for the Surgery of Trauma(AAST) Grade Ⅲor greater] at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney between January 2001 and December 2022. Morbidity and mortality outcomes were reviewed, and major diagnostic and operative challenges were *** Over a twenty-year period, 14 patients underwent pancreatic resection for highgrade injuries. Seven patients sustained AAST Grade Ⅲinjuries and 7 were classified as Grades Ⅳ or Ⅴ. Nine underwent distal pancreatectomy and 5 underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD). Overall, there was a predominance of blunt aetiologies(11/14). Concomitant intra-abdominal injuries were observed in 11 patients and traumatic haemorrhage in 6 patients. Three patients developed clinically relevant pancreatic fistulas and there was one in-hospital mortality secondary to multi-organ failure. Among stable presentations, pancreatic ductal injuries were missed in two-thirds of cases(7/12) on initial computed tomography imaging and subsequently diagnosed on repeat imaging or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. All patients who sustained complex pancreaticoduodenal trauma underwent PD without mortality. The management of pancreatic trauma is evolving. Our experience provides valuable and locally relevant insights into future management *** We advocate that high-grade pancreatic trauma should be managed in high-volume hepatopancreato-biliary specialty surgical units. Pancreatic resections including PD may be indicated and safely performed with appropriate specialist surgical, gastroenterology, and interventional radiology support in tertiary centres.

Cyberbullying is a form of harassment or bullying that takes place online or through digital devices like smartphones,computers,or *** can occur through various channels,such as social media,text messages,online forums,or gaming *** involves using technology to intentionally harm,harass,or intimidate others and may take different forms,including exclusion,doxing,impersonation,harassment,and ***,due to the rapid growth of malicious internet users,this social phenomenon is becoming more frequent,and there is a huge need to address this ***,the main goal of the research proposed in this manuscript is to tackle this emerging challenge.A dataset of sexist harassment on Twitter,containing tweets about the harassment of people on a sexual basis,for natural language processing(NLP),is used for this *** algorithms are used to transform the text into a meaningful representation of numbers for machine learning(ML)input:Term frequency inverse document frequency(TF-IDF)and Bidirectional encoder representations from transformers(BERT).The well-known eXtreme gradient boosting(XGBoost)ML model is employed to classify whether certain tweets fall into the category of sexual-based harassment or ***,with the goal of reaching better performance,several XGBoost models were devised conducting hyperparameter tuning by *** this purpose,the recently emerging Coyote optimization algorithm(COA)was modified and adjusted to optimize the XGBoost ***,other cutting-edge metaheuristics approach for this challenge were also implemented,and rigid comparative analysis of the captured classification metrics(accuracy,Cohen kappa score,precision,recall,and F1-score)was ***,the best-generated model was interpreted by Shapley additive explanations(SHAP),and useful insights were gained about the behavioral patterns of people who perform social harassment.

Background: Children spend 70% of the school day sitting in class. Classroom-based active breaks can benefit children's physical health, but if the breaks are cognitively demanding(i.e., combine physical exertion and mental engagement), they may also improve focus and cognitive functions. Teachers and students play a crucial role in the successful implementation of active breaks, and their perspectives are critical to the feasibility of these strategies. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of implementing a cognitively challenging motor task as an active break in mainstream and special primary ***: A total of 5 teachers in 2 mainstream schools and 7 teachers in 1 special school(attended by children with neurodevelopmental disorders) attended a 20-min training on how to implement a 4-min cognitively challenging active break, before conducting a feasibility trial(twice a day for 1 week). To understand individual perceptions, one-on-one semistructured interviews were conducted before and after the trial with teachers, and focus group interviews were conducted with typically developing children after the trial. Questions were based on a predefined framework for feasibility studies. All interviews were audio recorded, transcribed and analyzed in NVivo 11 using a framework approach. A total of 12 teachers(11 females; 7 between 20 and 34 years old) and 34 children(16 girls; 9.3 § 1.7 years, mean § SD) participated in the ***: In mainstream schools, teachers viewed the cognitively challenging motor task as appropriate and potentially beneficial for children's health and focus. Children reported enjoying the active breaks. Teachers in special schools viewed the task as complex and potentially frustrating for children. Phloem plays a fundamental role in plants by transporting hormones,nutrients,proteins,RNAs,and carbohydrates essential for plant growth and ***,the identity of the underlying phloem genes and pathways remain enigmatic especially in agriculturally important perennial crops,in part,due to the technical difficulty of phloem ***,we used two phloem-specific promoters and a translating ribosome affinity purification(TRAP)strategy to characterize the phloem translatome during leaf development at 2,4,and 6 weeks post vernalization in plum(Prunus domestica L.).Results provide insight into the changing phloem processes that occur during leaf *** processes included the early activation of DNA replication genes that are likely involved in phloem cell division during leaf expansion,as well as the upregulation of phloem genes associated with sink to source conversion,induction of defense processes,and signaling for *** these results reveal the dynamics of phloem gene expression during leaf development and establish the TRAP system as a powerful tool for studying phloem-specific functions and responses in trees.

Aims How growth of wild and crop species responds to global environmental perturbations has both ecological and agricultural significance in a changing *** primary aim of this synthesis was to quantitatively assess the interactive effects of intraspecific competition and elevated CO_(2) on biomass production in herbaceous *** Using meta-analytical techniques,we synthesized data from publications before 2006 that reported biomass responses to elevated CO_(2) in 321 herbaceous species grown in isolation or in competition with con-specific *** findings Intraspecific competition differentially modified biomass responses to elevated CO_(2) in wild and crop *** example,competition reduced CO_(2) stimulation of total biomass(WT)from 27 to 23%in wild species,but by a much greater magnitude,i.e.,from 43 to 32%in *** had no effect on responses of either above-(WAG)or below-ground(WBG)biomass to elevated CO_(2) in wild species,but significantly diminished CO_(2) enhancement of WAG,although not of WBG,in *** variations were found among functional groups in the modification of growth responses to elevated CO_(2) by intraspecific competition,which exerted greater depression on CO_(2) enhancement in C3 than in C4 species and in non-legumes than in *** CO_(2) affected leaf and stem growth of individually grown C3 graminoids and forbs similarly,but increased leaf growth only in C4 graminoids and stem growth only in C4 *** from this synthesis demonstrated that intraspecific competition differentially affected growth responses to elevated CO_(2) in wild and crop *** wildcrop species differences will have important implications for understanding primary production by herbaceous species in both natural and agricultural ecosystems in the future when atmospheric CO_(2) is significantly higher than the current level.
