The digital image processing technique was used for the extraction of physical information from the temporal image of phase structure in the process of phase separation in the blend of poly (butylene terephthalate-co-caprolactone )with polycarbonate. The power spectrum images of the two-dimensional Fourier transformation (2DFT) of the temporal image of phase structure reflect the change of the phase size with time.

We implemented a generalized infrastructure for Internet of Things (IoT infrastructure) to be applicable in various areas such as Smart Grid. That IoT infrastructure has two methods to store sensor data. They commonly have the features of double overlay structure, virtualization of sensors, composite services as federation using publisher/subscriber. And they are implemented as synthesizing the elemental architectures. The two methods majorly have the common architectural elements, however there are differences in how to compose and utilize them. But we observed the non-negligible differences in their achieved performance by the actual implementations due to operational items beyond these architectural elements. In this paper, we present the results of our analysis about the factors of the revealed differences based on the measured performance. In particular, it is clarified that a negative side effect due to combining independent elemental micro solutions naively could be amplified, if maximizing the level of loose coupling is applied as the most prioritized design and operational policy. Primarily, these combinations should be evaluated and verified during the basic design phase. However, the variation of how to synthesize them tends to be a blind spot when adopting the multiple independent architectural elements commonly. As a practical suggestion from this case, the emphasized importance in carrying out a new synthetization with multiple architectures is to make a balance naturally among architectural elements, or solutions based on them, and there is a certain demand to establish a methodology for architectural synthetization, including verification.

Dear Editor,Adrenocortical carcinomas and adrenal cysts,including pseudocysts,are uncommon tumors[1,2].No consistent approach to surgery for large adrenal tumors including cysts,has been established,and especially when malignancy is suspected,consideration is still given to the option of *** robot-assisted surgery,we successfully performed the resection of a giant adrenal pseudocyst and a giant adrenocortical carcinoma,as reported previously[3],underlining the advantages of robot-assisted surgery for large adrenal tumors.

Dear Editor, Woodroaches in the genus Cryptocercus are subsocial cockroaches that utilize decaying logs for both shelter and as a food source （Nalepa, 1984）. Based on molecular phylogenetic studies of multiple independent data （e.g., Lo et al., 2000; Inward et al., 2007）, Cryptocercus and termites are shown to have a sister group relationship within the cockroach clade. The 2 groups also share mul- tiple traits related to ecology, social structure, symbionts, and digestive physiology. Consequently, to discuss euso- cial e-~olution in termites, Cryptocercus would serve as an important group for a ＂model-taxon by homology＂（Klass et al., 2008）.

L-Theanine (γ-glutamylethylamide) is a naturally occurring amino acid derivative known to have several beneficial physiological effects as a diet supplement, and to give an umami taste when used as a food additive. The compound is industrially produced by γ-glutamyltranspeptidase from Pseudomonas nitroreducens (PnGGT). Using recombinant PnGGT, we have shown previously that Trp385, Phe417, and Trp525 are key amino acid residues for recognition of acceptor substrates at the PnGGT active site. Here, we demonstrate that a recombinant W525D mutant of PnGGT produces L-theanine from ethylamine and L-glutamine more efficiently than wild-type PnGGT, attributable to an increased ratio of transfer activity to hydrolysis activity. An efficient production of L-theanine was achieved by immobilizing Escherichia coli cells expressing the W525D PnGGT mutant (E. coli-W525D) using 2% alginate as the supporting material. The highest L-theanine production using immobilized E. coli-W525D, representing a conversion rate of 90%, was achieved in optimal reaction conditions of pH 10, 40°C, and a substrate molar ratio of L-glutamine to ethylamine of 1:10. Ossified thoracic spinal meningioma with hematopoiesis: A case report and review of the literature

Meningiomas account for 25% of spinal tumors, and they are often located in the thoracic spine. The ossified subtype is even rarer, and those with hematopoiesis are rarely described. The mechanism of bone formation has not yet been clarified. A case of ossified spinal meningioma with hematopoiesis occurring in a 78-year-old woman is described. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a lesion with a dural tail sign at the T9 level located dorsal to the spinal cord. Computerized tomography revealed a high density lesion, as high as the bone signal. Total resection was performed, and the symptoms improved. Pathological findings revealed many psammoma bodies (PBs), bone formation, and bone marrow with hematopoiesis. Both PBs and bone seemed to be based on the same background of calcified structures. This report is the second dealing with ossified spinal meningioma with hematopoiesis. The hardness of the tumor can make the operation more difficult, so that the operation should be performed carefully to avoid injuring the spinal cord.

Solitary Retinal Astrocytoma: A Case Series

Background: Astrocytic tumors of the retina are rare. We report and discuss the clinical features of two cases of retinal astrocytoma along with presenting a current literature review. Case Presentation: Case 1 was a 46-year-old Japanese female who became aware of her decreased visual acuity. A fundus photograph indicated the presence of a 5 mm hemispherical yellow-white tumor, retinal edema and hard exudate around the tumor. In case 2, a 36-year-old Japanese female became aware of her myodesopsia, and presented with a retinal tumor and vitreous hemorrhage in her right eye. Since the tumors occurred in the peripheral retina in both cases, endoresections were performed. Histological examination showed that the tumors were composed of spindle-shaped cells with small nuclei, which was consistent with astrocytes. Conclusion: Pathologically, it can be difficult to differentiate astrocytic tumors. Therefore, when making a diagnosis, it is important that comprehensive examinations be done in conjunction with the clinical findings. Since retinal astrocytoma has a favorable prognosis, provided proper treatment is administered, utilization of endoresection for peripheral astrocytoma may be advantageous in this patient group.
