Additive manufacturing,particularly 3D printing,has revolutionized the manufacturing industry by allowing the production of complex and intricate parts at a lower cost and with greater ***,3D-printed parts frequently require post-processing or integration with other machining technologies to achieve the desired surface finish,accuracy,and mechanical ***-precision machining(UPM)is a potential machining technology that addresses these challenges by enabling high surface quality,accuracy,and repeatability in 3D-printed *** study provides an overview of the current state of UPM for 3D printing,including the current UPM and 3D printing stages,and the application of UPM to 3D *** the presentation of current stage perspectives,this study presents a detailed discussion of the benefits of combining UPM with 3D printing and the opportunities for leveraging UPM on 3D printing or supporting each *** particular,future opportunities focus on cutting tools manufactured via 3D printing for UPM,UPM of 3D-printed components for real-world applications,and post-machining of 3D-printed ***,future prospects for integrating the two advanced manufacturing technologies into potential industries are *** study concludes that UPM is a promising technology for 3D-printed components,exhibiting the potential to improve the functionality and performance of 3D-printed products in various *** also discusses how UPM and 3D printing can complement each other.

A facile design of Pt nanostructures from submonolayer to monolayer has been realized by ion adsorption-in situ electrochemical reduction on Au nanoparticles supported on multiwall carbon nanotubes （CNTs）. The as prepared Au@Pt/CNTs catalysts display coverage-specific electrocatalysis. Au@Pt/CNTs with low Pt coverage is inactive towards methanol oxidation whereas it oxidizes formic acid effectively through a direct pathway with mass specific activity 90 times that of a commercial Pt/C catalyst. Due to its inertness to methanol, it shows high performance in the oxygen reduction reaction （ORR） with high methanol tolerance. In contrast, simply increasing the Pt coverage to above 40% switches the formic acid oxidation process to both direct and indirect catalytic pathways, and also results in high methanol oxidation activity.

Algal polysaccharides are an essential active substance in food nutrition and even pharmaceutical activity research due to wide sources， low toxicity， and no side effects. In our previous research， we identified the chemical structure and studied the immunomodulatory mechanism of the polysaccharide CRVP from edible green algae Caulerpa racemosa var. peltata. In this study， we further investigated the cytotoxicity and potential mechanism of CRVP against Hepa1-6 cells. Metabolomics analysis showed that CRVP might affect glutathione metabolism-related pathways. CRVP significantly up-regulated oxidized glutathione （GSSG） and down-regulated reduced glutathione （GSH） in Hepa1-6 cells， increasing the ratio of GSSG to GSH and intracellular reactive oxygen species. The potential anti-liver cancer mechanism is that CRVP may affect redox homeostasis and lead to apoptosis by inhibiting glutathione reductase or System Xc-. Based on the known immunomodulatory mechanism of CRVP， this study can provide a material basis for adjuvant therapeutic nutritional agents with immune-enhancing anti-cancer activity.

The vertical phase distribution of active layers plays a vital role in balancing exciton dissociation and charge transport for achieving efficient polymer solar cells (PSCs). The layer-by-layer (LbL) PSCs are commonly prepared by using sequential spin-coating method from donor and acceptor solutions with distinct solvents and solvent additives. The enhanced exciton dissociation is expected in the LbL PSCs with efficient charge transport in the relatively neat donor or acceptor layers. In this work, a series of LbL all-polymer solar cells (APSCs) were fabricated with PM6 as donor and PY-DT as acceptor, and triplet material m-Ir(CPmPB)3 is deliberately incorporated into PY-DT layer to prolong exciton lifetimes of active layers. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of LbL APSCs is improved to 18.24% from 17.32% by incorporating 0.3 wt% m-Ir(CPmPB)3 in PY-DT layer, benefiting from the simultaneously enhanced short-circuit current density (JSC) of 25.17 mA cm-2 and fill factor (FF) of 74.70%. The enhancement of PCE is attributed to the efficient energy transfer of m-Ir(CPmPB)3 to PM6 and PY-DT, resulting in the prolonged exciton lifetime in the active layer and the increased exciton diffusion distance. The efficient energy transfer from m-Ir(CPmPB)3 to PM6 and PY-DT layer can be confirmed by the increased photoluminescence (PL) intensity and the prolonged PL lifetime of PM6 and PY-DT in PM6 + m-Ir(CPmPB)3 and PY-DT + m-Ir(CPmPB)3 films. This study indicates that the triplet material as solid additive has great potential in fabricating efficient LbL APSCs by prolonging exciton lifetimes in active layers. (c) 2024 Science China Press. Many animals use color to signal their quality and/or behavioral *** signals have been well studied in the contexts of competi-tion and mate choice;however,the role of these signals in nonsexual,affiliative relationships is not as well ***,we used wild social groups of the cichlid fish Neolamprologus pulcher to investigate whether the size of a brightly colored facial patch was related to 1)individual quality,2)social dominance,and/or 3)affiliative *** with larger patches spent more time foraging and tended to perform more aggressive acts against conspecific territory *** did not find any evidence that the size of these yellow patches was related to social rank or body size,but dominant males tended to have larger patches than dominant ***,patch size had a rank-specific relationship with the number of affiliative interactions that individuals engaged *** males with large patches received fewer affiliative acts from their groupmates compared to dominant males with small ***,subordinates with large patches tended to receive more affiliative acts from their groupmates while performing fewer affiliative acts *** together,our results suggest that patch size reflects interindividual variation in foraging effort in this cichlid fish and offer some of the first evidence that colorful signals may shape affiliative relationships withinwildsocialgroups.

A series of tricyanoiron(Ⅲ) complexes with the general formula mer-[FeⅢ(5-Xsap)(CN)3]2-(X = H, Me, MeO, Cl or Br, sapH2 = N-salicylidene-o-aminophenol) have been synthesized. These complexes were characterized by IR, ESI-MS, UV/Vis, elemental analysis and magnetic measurements. The structures of (PPh4)2[FeⅢ(sap)(CN)3] and (PPh4)2[FeⅢ(5-Mesap)(CN)3] have been determined by X-ray crystallography. These low-spin d5 tricyanoiron(Ⅲ) complexes are potential building blocks for the construction of molecule-based magnets.

Linear rolling guideways(LRGs) play an important role in precision engineering. In the pre-rolling region, the hysteretic friction force exerts great impacts on the positioning accuracy. Numerical and experimental studies of the hysteresis of friction force are presented in this paper. A model, which is based on the stripe theory and the simplified theory of rolling contact, is built to describe the transient hysteresis of the friction force. Then, the model is modified by taking the anelasticity effect into consideration. Experimentally, a linear motor direct-drive setup is utilized to measure the transient asymmetrical hysteresis of the friction force in the pre-rolling region of an LRG. The influences of the pre-rolling displacement and the dwelling time on the asymmetrical hysteresis of the friction force are studied. The numerical and experimental results are well correlated, which shows good accuracy of the model. The transient asymmetrical hysteresis of friction force in the pre-rolling region of LRGs can thus be determined using the model.

Chemosensitizing Effect of Monk Fruit Extract on Human Bladder Cancer Cells

The outcomes of chemotherapy have been unsatisfactory with the palpable side effects. We hypothesized that natural products might help improve chemotherapy with few side effects. Recently, we came across the bioactive extracts of monk fruit (Siraitia grosvenori) with anticancer activity. We then investigated if these extracts might have chemosensitizing effect to improve the efficacy of drugs clinically used today. Four different drugs, cisplatin (CPL), carboplatin (CBL), mitomycin C (MMC), and gemcitabine (GEM), were used in this study. Human bladder cancer T24 cells were treated with each drug itself or drug combined with either LLE or MOG (two types of monk fruit extracts). Cell viability was determined to assess anticancer effect and also explored the anticancer mechanism of such combinations, focusing on the status of glycolysis, cell cycle, and chromatin structure. Cell viability test showed that all drugs had anticancer activity, reducing cell viability, but only CPL showed the enhanced anticancer effect when combined with LLE (not with MOG). The rest of three drugs had no such effects with LLE or MOG. The CPL/LLE combination was found to disrupt glycolysis, by inhibiting hexokinase activity, resulted in the decreased ATP synthesis. This combination also blocked the cell cycle progression, due to a G1 cell cycle arrest. Moreover, the two epigenetic regulators, DNA methyltransferase and histone deacetylase, were inactivated with the combination, indicating chromatin modifications. Ultimately, these treated cells were found to undergo apoptosis. In conclusion, anticancer activity of CPL can be significantly enhanced with LLE. This chemosensitizing effect is attributed to the glycolysis inhibition, a G1 cell cycle arrest, and chromatin modifications, ultimately leading to apoptosis. Thus, certain natural products such as LLE could be used as an adjuvant agent in current chemotherapy, improving the drug efficacy but minimizing side effects.
