Effects of Foot Rotation on ACL Injury Risk Variables During Drop Landing

Purpose Landing is considered a"high-risk"movement for anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)*** progression angle(FPA)during landing has been shown to influence hip,knee,and ankle *** purpose of this study was to compare five FPA conditions during drop landings between males and *** twenty males and females were tested using five FPA conditions:self-selected,toe-in 15°,toe-in 30°,toe-out 15°,and toe-out 30°.Right hip,knee,and ankle joint kinematics and kinetics were collected using a 12-camera motion capture system and two force *** successful trials were collected and compared between FPA *** the main effect for FPA condition was statistically different for initial contact hip flexion,hip abduction,hip internal rotation,knee flexion,knee abduction,knee external rotation,and ankle inversion angles compared to self-selected FPA at Ptension,hip abduction,knee adduction,knee internal rotation,ankle plantar flexion,and ankle inversion moments were also found to be statistically significant(Pter initial knee abduc-tion angle(P=0.028),hip abduction moment(P=0.006),knee extension moment(P=0.033),and knee internal rotation moment(P=0.044),regardless of FPA *** experienced greater initial contact hip abduction angle(P=0.0017),regardless of FPA *** the results suggest that landing with large toe-in FPA will increase the magnitude of ACL injury risk variables,and females demonstrated a greater magnitude in these variables compared to *** prevention programs may seek to target FPA as part of training activities to avoid large FPA toe-in landings.

the particle physics Standard Model involves three charge 0 neutrinos, three charge e leptons, three charge (2/3)e quarks, and three charge −(1/3)e quarks, where e is electron charge. However, the Standard Model cannot explain why there are three generations of particles in each charge state and makes no predictions relating to quark and lepton masses. this analysis, treating Standard Model particles as spheres with radii 1/4 the particle Compton wavelength, explains three, and only three fermions are in each charge state and relates first generation quark masses to the electron mass.

Barrellite and Pillarrite: A Description and a Mode of Formation of a Novel Post-Sedimentary twin Structures from As-Subbiyah, North of Kuwait Bay, Kuwait

I report on the occurrence of a pair of novel and related post-sedimentary structures that form in the Neogene cross-bedded red sandstones in the As-Subbiyah area, north of Kuwait Bay, Kuwait. I named them barrellite and pillarrite. Barrellite forms as vertical tubes of concentric sheaths of siltstone with partially hollow interior or intervening homogeneous and structure-less sandstone. It stands as barrels above the background sandstone. Pillarrite forms as discrete, vertical and solitary spines of homogeneous sandstone and siltstone, or inside barrellite masses from which successive siltstone sheaths were stripped. The structures range in diameter from one-centimeter poke marks to one-meter-wide barrels and hunks, and their vertical length exceeds two meters. Barrellite, pillarrite and their complex intergrowths develop near thin quartz veins and chaotic zones, and form with them complex geometrical relationships. The dual structures are genetically related and fall within the general class of tubular structures in sedimentary rocks. I consider them as a special type of sand injectites. The mode of formation of these structures is enigmatic. They develop in a geological setting that displays evidence of a widespread and vigorous oil field brine. I suggest a tentative scenario for their formation, involving flushing of the brine through hydraulic fracturing of the sedimentary succession above the Ebharah Oil Field reservoir in the As-Subbiyah area. The brine plucks mineral and rock fragments and mixestyle="font-family:Verdana;"> with them along its paths, producing a heterogeneous slurry. Background/Aim: the purpose of this study was to examine the effect of training and consultancy on women’s knowledge level and health belief regarding the cervical cancer screenings and their participation in screenings. Materials and Methods: the study is designed as pre-experiment with one group pretest-posttest. the sample group of the study consists of 66 women. the data were collected between March and June 2011. “Personal Information Form”, “Information Form of Cervical Cancer Screenings”, “Health Belief Model Scale for Cervical Cancer and Pap Smear test”, and “Assessment Form Concerning taking the Pap Smear test” were used to collect the data. Results: It was determined that at the end of all trainings, 45.5% of women took the relevant test. Among those who participated in the Pap Smear screening, the training and consultancy had an effect of 100%, booklets 100% and telephone calls 25%. the training and consultancy increased the perception of “benefit and motivation” regarding the Pap Smear test and Pap Smear decreased the perception of “barriers”. Regarding the cervical cancer, it decreased the perception of “regard/seriousness”, “susceptibility” and “health motivation”. Conclusions: It was concluded that training and consultancy change the health beliefs regarding cervical cancer screenings, increase the participation in screenings and consequently, contribute to early diagnosis.

With limited use of inorganic fertilizers on smallholder farms,plant residues could be viable alternatives for soil fertility *** study was conducted to determine how residue quality and decomposition of nine plant species influence soil N availability,microbial biomass,andβ-glucosidase activity during soil fertility *** differences in N concentration were found among the species,ranging from 12.2 g kg-1 in Zea mays to 39.2 g kg-1 in Baphia *** C/N ratio was the highest in ***(34.4),whereas lignin and polyphenol concentrations were the greatest in Acacia *** highest decomposition rate(0.251%per day)occurred in tithonia diversifolia,and the lowest in ***,Albizia zygia,***,and ***,with the half-lives of 28-56 *** 80%and 89%of N,P,K,Ca,and Mg were released from *** in 7 d,compared with over 70%retention in ***,***,and *** decomposition and nutrient release half-lives of Gliricidia sepium,Leucaena leucocephala,Azadirachta indica,and Senna spectabilis were less than 14 *** mineral N,microbial biomass,andβ-glucosidase activity increased under all treatments,with *** having the greatest *** N mineralization occurred in all of the species throughout the experiment,an initial N immobilization was recorded in the ***,***,***,and *** treatments for up to 14 *** and nutrient release rates,mineral N,soil microbial biomass,andβ-glucosidase activity were dependent on residue quality,and P and lignin levels,the lignin/N ratio,and the(lignin+polyphenol)/N ratio had the most significant effects(P≤0.05).

this paper reports on two nuclear astrophysics experiments performed in collabora- tion with Ruhr University. In a 12C＋2C fusion reaction, the 12C（12C, a）20e and 12C（12C, p）23Na reactions were studied in the energy range of E = 2.10 MeV to 4.75 MeV using -y-ray spectroscopy. the deduced astrophysical S（E）＊ factor exhibited a new, strong resonance at E -= 2.14 MeV, which lay at the high-energy tail of the Gamow peak. the resonance increased the reaction rate of the ^-channel by a factor of five near t = 8 ~ l0s K. the electron screening in d（d, p）t was stud- ied for a series of deuterated metal, insulator and semiconductor targets. Compared with the measurements performed with a gaseous D2 target, a large effect was observed in most metals, while a comparatively small effect was found in the insulators and semiconductors. Subsequently the temperature dependence of the electron screening in the d（d, p）t reaction was studied for the deuterated metals Pt and Co. Enhanced electron screening decreased with increasing tempera- ture. these data represent the first observations of the temperature dependence of a nuclear cross section.

Curriculum has achieved a varied record of success in influencing health based practices and developing professional skills. Designing and implementing an effective radiologic technology educational program curriculum requires a disciplined pedagogical approach where the instructor performs a thorough situational analysis, develops a theory based and pragmatic learning plan, and implements a course of study in accordance with the established educational guidelines and requirements. Diligent efforts are needed to enhance the relationship amongst curriculum developers and evaluators. the collection of information at the formative stage: followed by process evaluation to assess implementation as the curriculum progresses, and summative evaluation to assess impact is required for accreditation of program in the United States by the Joint Review Committee for Education in Radiologic technology. Formative evaluation research is used to enhance effectiveness of the curriculum, guide development of teaching and learning strategies, and reveal promising and ineffective components of curriculum. this review of literature provides evidence as to what is considered to be the best practice in the program evaluation/accreditation process.
