Drought is a major environmental factor limiting cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) productivity worldwide and projected climate changes could increase their negative effects in the future. thus, targeting the molecular mechanisms correlated with drought tolerance without reducing productivity is a challenge for plant breeding. In this way, we evaluated the effects of water deficit progress on AtDREB2A-CA transgenic cotton plant responses, driven by the stress-inducible rd29 promoter. Besides shoot and root morphometric traits, gas exchange and osmotic adjustment analyses were also included. Here, we present how altered root traits shown by transgenic plants impacted on physiological acclimation responses when submitted to severe water stress. the integration of AtDREB2A-CA into the cotton genome increased total root volume, surface area and total root length, without negatively affecting shoot morphometric growth parameters and nor phenotypic evaluated traits. Additionally, when compared to wild-type plants, transgenic plants (17-t0 plants and its progeny) highlighted a gradual pattern of phenotypic plasticity tosome photosynthetic parameters such as photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance with water deficit progress. transgene also promoted greater shoot development and root robustness (greater and deeper root mass) allowing roots to grow into deeper soil layers. the same morpho-physiological trend was observed in the subsequent generation (17.6-t2). Our results suggest that the altered root traits shown by transgenic plants are the major contributors to higher tolerance response, allowing the AtDRE2A-CA-cotton plants to maintain elevated stomatal conductance and assimilate rates and, consequently, reducing their metabolic costs involved in the antioxidant responses activation. these results also suggest that these morpho-physiological changes increased the number of reproductive structures retained per plant (26% higher) when compared with its non-transgenic cou

Aim:Definitive chemoradiotherapy(dCRt)is the standard treatment for locally advanced unresectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(LU-ESCC).this study aimed to describe the results of dCRt for t4 ESCC and evaluate the pretherapeutic predictive factors of the ***:A total of 133 patients with t4 ESCC who received dCRt were grouped into those who achieved a complete response(CR)or those who had residual disease(RD).the clinicopathologic variables were compared between the groups and the overall survival(OS)was *** predictive factor of RD was assessed and the prognostic factor for OS was ***:Among the 133 patients,31(23%)achieved *** CR group had a significantly better OS than the RD group(89.9 months vs.10.7 months;hazard ratio=0.096;95%confidence interval:0.05-0.19;Ptivariate analysis showed that a supracarinal tumor(OR=3.21;P=0.016),higher pretherapeutic serum SCC-Ag level(>1.6 ng/mL)(OR=2.86;P=0.018),and metastatic node invasion(OR=3.19;P=0.048)were independent predictors of *** increased level of pretherapeutic serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen(>1.6 ng/mL)(OR=1.61;P=0.022)was an independent predictor of poor ***:Among the patients who underwent dCRt for LU-ESCC,23%achieved CR,and the long-term outcome of these patients was *** levels of pretherapeutic serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen were also found to be predictive of treatment failure.

AIM: to investigate the long-term oncologic outcomes and prognostic factors in patients with obstructive colorectal cancer(CRC) at multiple Japanese ***: We identified 362 patients diagnosed with obstructive colorectal cancer from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2012 in Yokohama Clinical Oncology Group's department of gastroenterological surgery. Among them, 234 patients with stage Ⅱ/Ⅲ disease who had undergone surgical resection of their primary lesions were analyzed, retrospectively. We report the long-term outcomes, the risk factors for recurrence, and the prognostic ***: the five-year disease free survival and cancer-specific survival were 50.6% and 80.3%, respectively. A multivariate analysis showed the ASAPS(HR = 2.23, P = 0.026), serum Albumin ≤ 4.0 g/d L(HR = 2.96, P = 0.007), t4 tumor(HR = 2.73, P = 0.002) and R1 resection(HR = 6.56, P = 0.02) to be independent risk factors for recurrence. Furthermore, poorly differentiated cancers(HR = 6.28, P = 0.009), a t4 tumor(HR = 3.46, P = 0.011) and R1 resection(HR = 6.16, P = 0.006) were independent prognostic factors in patients with obstructive ***: the outcomes of patients with obstructive CRC was poor. t4 tumor and R1 resection were found to be independent prognostic factors for both recurrence and survival in patients with obstructive CRC.

OBJECtIVE： to identify muscle imbalances and pelvic tilt with implications for low back pain in Keirin cyclists. MEtHODS： We enrolled 16 Keirin cyclists （mean age, 32.2 ±8.6 years） and 16 college students as controls （24.3 ± 2.3 years）. We measured pelvic tilt, heel-buttock distance （HBD）, iliopsoas flexibility （using the thomas test）, hamstring flexibility （using the straight-leg-raise [SLR] test）, finger floor distance （FFD）, and isometric and isokinetic hamstring and quadriceps muscle strength. these parameters were compared between the two groups, as well as between the right and left sides, by using the Mann-Whitney U test or unpaired t test. RESULtS： the results of this study revealed a significant anterior pelvic tilt at standing position and significantly higher HBD, SLR, and FFD in the Keirin cyclists than in the controls. the isokinetic muscle strength of the quadrieeps and hamstring, and the hamstring-to-quadriceps ratio at high angular velocity were significantly greater in the Keirin cyclists. No significant differences were found between the right and left sides. CONCLUSION： this study revealed that the Keirin cyclists had an anterior pelvic tilt and imbalance in hip muscle flexibility, but the difference between the right and left sides were not significant.

Background: the relationship between chronic neck and shoulder pain and posture remains controversial. the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between chronic neck and shoulder pain and spinal sagittal alignment in standing posture in younger generation. Methods: Subjects included 57 females and 32 males (average age, 29.9 ± 5.7 years). All subjects were 20s or 30s. Spinal curvature was assessed using SpinalMouse. the subjects were also divided into a normal group (VAS zero group) and a pain group by VAS results. Statistical analysis was performed by Student’s t-test. Significance was defined as p ts: the normal group and pain group included 29 and 60 subjects, respectively. In terms of location of pain, thirty-one subjects felt neck pain, 50 felt pain above the scapula, and 17 felt pain between the thoracic spine and scapula. thoracic kyphosis and lumbar lordosis in the pain group were significantly higher than those in the normal group (p = 0.013 and p = 0.020, respectively). thoracic kyphosis in subjects with neck pain or pain above scapula was significantly higher than that in subjects without pain (p = 0.0075 and p = 0.025, respectively). Lumbar lordosis in subjects with pain above the scapula or interscapula was significantly higher than that in subjects without pain (p = 0.016).
