thin films used for optical components require improvements in their mechanical properties and long-term stability. We examine the influence of substrate weathering on optical thin films. the light scattering of tiO2 thin films increased as the substrate is weathered. the light scattering of the tiO2 thin film formed by ion-assisted deposition （IAD） is smaller than that of the tiO2 thin film formed by electron beam deposition （EBD）.

We investigate a Σ-mixing probability of a neutron-rich Λ-hypernucleus 10ΛLi by using microscopic shell-model calculations considering a Λ-Σ coupling in the first order perturbation. the theoretical Σ-mixing probability in 10ΛLi is found to be about 0.48%,due to the appearance of multi-configuration Σ Nuclear excited states which can be strongly coupled with the Λ ground state in 10ΛLi.

Effect of Cold-Rolling on Precipitation Phenomena in Sensitized type 316L and 304L Austenitic Stainless Steels

Precipitation phenomena in type 316L and 304L stainless steels were studied mainly by transmission electron microscopic (tEM) observations after cold-rolling ranging from 0% (as solution annealed) to 80% reduction in thickness, and then by sensitization treatment. Precipitates were identified by electron diffraction analysis and EDS analysis. Precipitates observed in sensitized 316L stainless steel were sigma and chi phases, whereas carbide and sigma were observed in sensitized 304L stainless steel. Recrystallized grains were formed in 30% cold-rolled and sensitized 304L. However, the tendency toward recrystallization in sensitized 316L was much lower than in 304L. Precipitation of sigma and chi phases was accelerated by cold-rolling and they were observed at grain boundaries in lower cold-rolling; they were also seen, in grain interiors in higher cold-rolling. Higher deformation induced partially recrystallization combined with precipitation, resulting in the formation of heterogeneous microstructures.

In the outer periclinal cytoplasm of leaf epidermal cells of an aquatic angiosperm Vallisneria, blue light induces ＂chloroplast de-anchoring＂, a rapid decline in the resistance of chloroplasts against centrifugal force. Chloroplast de- anchoring is known induced within lmin of irradiation with high-fluence-rate blue light specifically, preceding the com- mencement of chloroplasts migration toward the anticlinal cytoplasm. However, its regulatory mechanism has remained elusive, although pharmacological analysis suggested that a calcium release from intracellular calcium stores is necessary for the response, in search of the responsible photoreceptors, immunoblotting analysis using antibodies against phototropins demonstrated that cross-reactive polypeptides of 120-kDa exist in the plasma-membrane fraction prepared from the leaves. In vitro phosphorylation analysis revealed that 120-kDa polypeptides were phosphorylated by exposure to blue light in a fluence-dependent manner. the blue-light-induced phosphorylation activity was sensitive to a Ser/thr kinase inhibitor, staurosporine, and unusually was retained at a high level for a long time in darkness. Furthermore, phototropin gene homologs （Vallisneria PHOtOtROPINI and PHOtOtROPIN2） expressed in leaves were isolated. We propose that calcium- regulated chloroplast de-anchoring, possibly mediated by phototropins, is an initial process of the blue-light-induced avoidance response of chloroplasts in Vallisneria.

BACKGROUND:Although invasive ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas(PDAC) manifests as a relatively uniform histomorphological feature of the pancreatobiliary type,it may be complicated by metaplastic changes and heterogeneous gastric and intestinal *** study aimed to investigate the complication rate and clinicopathological significance of such heterogeneous ***:Fifty-nine patients who underwent resection of PDAC were examined in this ***,tumors showing high expression(>25%) of the intestinal-type(INt) marker CDX2 were classified as PDAC with *** with high expression(>25%) of the gastric-type(GAS) marker MUC5AC were classified as PDAC with GAS,while those with high expression of both markers were classified as PDAC with INt/*** patients were compared with those with PDAC of the negative group in which neither markers was highly expressed to examine their clinicopathological ***:In the 59 patients,31(52.5%) showed high CDX2 or MUC5AC ***-eight patients(47.5%) belonged to a negative group,11(18.6%) to a PDAC with INt group,15(25.4%) to a PDAC with GAS group,and 5(8.5%) to a PDAC with INt/GAS *** significant differences were observed for age,gender,size,localization,t classification,or prognosis among the four *** the PDAC with GAS group had well differentiated types significantly more than the other groups,the rate of lymph node metastasis in this group was significantly higher(PDAC with GAS:73%;other groups:36%).CONCLUSION:Complications with heterogeneous elements are not uncommon in PDAC,and this should be considered during the diagnosis and treatment of PDAC along with histogenesis of the disease.
