Hydroxyapatite(HA)and its composites with inorganic additives,dopants,and polymers is a rapidly developing branch in t.e materials *** particular,carbon allotropes are widely used in t.ese composites being widely applied for medical *** a gap of insufficient generalization of recent achievements in t.e field of t.e HA/Carbon composites,in this review we present t.e state of t.e art of t.e field of HA composites and hybrids with classic carbon allotropes and *** composites are known for carbon nanotubes,nanofibers,graphene and its oxidized forms,as well as,in a lesser grade,for graphite,fullerenes,nanodiamonds,carbon nanofoams,*** composites can be fabricated by a variety of classic and less-common methods,such as co-precipitation(with or without ultrasonic t.eat.ent),CVD,hot isostatic pressing,hydrot.ermal,spark plasma sintering,biomimetic mineralization,t.ermal and plasma spray,electrochemical and electrophoretic deposition,self-assembling,3D printing,electrospinning,and lyophilisation,among *** of various synt.esis techniques can be also carried out for composite *** or synt.etic HA can be used as it is for furt.er interaction with carbon allotropes or it can be first prepared and t.en reacted with carbon counterpart;similarly,carbon allotropes can be introduced into t.e interaction with HA directly or t.ey can be first synt.esized,in particular from *** biocompatible composites can be produced in t.e form of coatings,powders,and scaffolds and can additionally contain quantitative amounts of third phases,frequently natural or synt.etic *** t.ese composites,especially with O-containing functionalizing groups,HA disadvantages could be considerably decreased with simultaneous enhancement of mechanical propert.es,becoming similar to human bone,chemical stability and biocompatibility,as well as possessing antibacterial ***→G reduction and higher HA decoration were obs

Despite substantial progress in t.e t.eat.ent of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), including radiation t.erapy and immunot.erapy alone or in combination, t.e response to t.eat.ent remains poor due to t.e hypoxic and immunosuppressive nature of t.e tumor microenvironment. Herein, we exploited t.e bioreactivity of novel polymer–lipid manganese dioxide nanoparticles (PLMDs) to remodel t.e tumor immune microenvironment (tIMe) by increasing t.e local oxygen levels and extracellular pH and enhancing radiation-induced immunogenic cell death. this study demonstrated that PLMD t.eat.ent sensitized hypoxic human and murine CRPC cells to radiation, significantly increasing radiation-induced DNA double-strand breaks and ultimately cell death, which enhanced t.e secretion of damage-associated molecular pat.erns, attributable to t.e induction of autophagy and endoplasmic reticulum st.ess. Reoxygenation via PLMDs also polarized hypoxic murine RAW264.7 macrophages toward t.e M1 phenotype, enhancing tumor necrosis factor alpha release, and thus reducing t.e viability of murine CRPC t.amP-C2 cells. In a syngeneic t.amP-C2 tumor model, intravenous injection of PLMDs suppressed, while radiation alone enhanced recruit.ent of regulatory t cells and myeloid-derived suppressor cells. Pret.eat.ent with PLMDs followed by radiation down-regulated programmed death-ligand 1 and promoted t.e infiltration of antitumor CD8+ t cells and M1 macrophages to tumor sites. taken toget.er, tIMe modulation by PLMDs plus radiation profoundly delayed tumor growth and prolonged median survival compared with radiation alone. t.ese results suggest that PLMDs plus radiation is a promising t.eat.ent modality for improving t.erapeutic efficacy in radioresistant and immunosuppressive solid tumors.

BACKGROUND Distal humerus elbow fractures are one of t.e most common traumatic fractures seen in pediatric pat.ents and present as three main types:Supracondylar(SC),lateral condyle(LC),and medial epicondyle(Me)*** to evaluate t.e epidemiology of pediatric distal humerus fractures(SC,LC,and Me)from an american insurance claims *** A retrospective review was performed on pat.ents 17 years and younger with t.e ICD 9 and 10 codes for SC,LC and Me fractures based on t.e IBM truven MarketScan®Commercial and IBM truven MarketScan Medicare Supplemental *** from 2015 to 2020 were queried for t.eat.ents,pat.ent age,sex,length of hospitalization,and *** A total of 1133 SC,154 LC,and 124 Me fractures were *** fractures had t.e highest percentage of operation at 83%,followed by LC(78%)and Me fractures(41%).Male pat.ents were,on average,older than female pat.ents for both SC and Me *** In t.e insurance claims databases used,SC fractures were t.e most reported,followed by LC fractures,and finally Me *** was identified to be a factor for how a pediatric distal humerus fractures,with pat.ents with SC and LC fractures being younger than those with Me *** peak age per injury per sex was similar to reported historic central tendencies,despite reported t.ends for younger physiologic development.

In recent years,graphene field-effect-transistors(GFets)have demonstrated an outstanding potential for terahertz(tHz)photodetection due to t.eir fast response and *** features are essential to enable emerging tHz applications,including 6G wireless communications,quantum information,bioimaging and ***,t.e overall performance of t.ese photodetectors may be ut.erly compromised by t.e impact of internal resistances presented in t.e device,so-called access or parasitic *** this work,we provide a detailed study of t.e influence of internal device resistances in t.e photoresponse of high-mobility dual-gate GFet *** dual-gate architectures allow us to fine tune(decrease)t.e internal resistance of t.e device by an order of magnitude and consequently demonstrate an improved responsivity and noise-equivalent-power values of t.e photodetector,*** results can be well understood by a series resistance model,as shown by t.e excellent agreement found bet.een t.e experimental data and t.eoretical *** findings are t.erefore relevant to understand and improve t.e overall performance of existing high-mobility graphene photodetectors.

Background t.e impact of changing land-use pat.erns and associated anthropogenic threats on scale-dependent habitat use of semi-aquatic mustelids in scent-marking and social behaviour can provide important insights into t.e habitat.ecology of smooth-coated ot.ers(Lutrogale perspicillata).Methods We sampled 180 st.eam segments(100–400 m) as spatial replicates of 60 1-km2 sites to record indirect.evidence(i.e. spraints and mass latrine sites) and group sizes of smooth-coated ot.ers along t.e tungabhadra Ot.er Conservation Reserve(tOCR) during t.e dry season. to quantify habitat, we recorded st.eam characteristics, riparian vegetation, and anthropogenic disturbances at t.e local scale, and hydro-environmental characteristics and land uses at t.e landscape scale. Using Markovian-chain detection and occupancy models, we assessed t.e multi-scale habitat use of ot.ers in t.eir selection of suitable areas for scent-marking based on repeated presence-absence data on spraint/latrine locations along t.e tOCR. We furt.er used linear regression techniques to explore relationships bet.een t.e number of individuals in smooth-coated ot.er group and hydro-environmental characteristics, spraint/latrine encounter rate, anthropogenic pressure, land cover, topography, and *** At t.e local scale, t.e probability of spraint deposition and group size decreased with anthropogenic disturbance while t.e probability of spraint detections decreased with grass cover. t.e use of biochar can have several effects on plant germination,depending on raw material,preparation method and application ***,t.e molecular mechanisms that lead to those results have yet to be *** aim of this research was to improve t.e understanding of t.ese mechanisms by characterizing t.e metabolic effects of sugarcane bagasse biochar on soybean *** types of biochars were prepared by pyrolysis at 300℃(SCB300),400℃(SCB400)and 600℃(SCB600).t.en,each one was mixed into sand at 1%,3%,5%(w/w)dose,*** experiment was performed in 8 days of incubation,when t.e number of germinated seeds and t.e average radicle length were *** evaluate t.e metabolome,t.e dry biomass(DB)was subjected to extraction with a mixture of methanol-d4 and D2O(1:1 v/v).t.e extracts were submit.ed to metabolomics analysis by Proton Nuclear Magnetic *** Relative Germination,Relative Average Radicle Growth and Germination Index increased in all t.eat.ents compared to *** t.e ot.er hand,t.e DB increased in all t.eat.ents,except for SCB300,at doses of 1%and 3%w/*** metabolites(alanine,asparagine,acetic acid,citric acid,glycerol,fatty acids and sucrose)were identified and quantified in DB extracts as t.e most influential finding for t.e separation of *** toget.er,t.ese results strongly suggested that biochars accelerated t.e catabolism of triacylglycerols to sucrose and induced a slight osmotic st.ess.
