Indoor Formaldehyde Removal techniques through Paints: Review

Due to its ability to cause illnesses and discomfort even at low concentrations, formaldehyde pollution of indoor air poses a significant risk to human health. Sources of formaldehyde in indoor environments include textiles, paints, wallpapers, glues, adhesives, varnishes, and lacquers;furniture and wooden products like particleboard, plywood, and medium-density fiberboard that contain formaldehyde-based resins;shoe products;cosmetics;electronic devices;and other consumer goods like paper products and insecticides. According to the World Health Organisation, indoor formaldehyde concentrations shouldn’t exceed 0.1 mg/m3. the methods include membrane separation, plasma, photocatalytic decomposition, physisorption, chemisorption, biological and botanical filtration, and catalytic oxidation. Materials based on metal oxides and supported noble metals work as oxidation catalysts. Consequently, a paint that passively eliminates aldehydes from buildings can be developed by adding absorbents and formaldehyde scavengers to the latex composition. It will be crucial to develop techniques for the careful detection and removal of formaldehyde in the future. Additionally, microbial decomposition is less expensive and produces fewer pollutants. the main goal of future research will be to develop a biological air quality control system that will boost the effectiveness of formaldehyde elimination. the various methods of removing formaldehyde through paints have been reviewed here, including the use of mixed metal oxides, formaldehyde-absorbing emulsions, nano titanium dioxide, catalytic oxidation, and aromatic formaldehyde abating materials that can improve indoor air quality.

Oxidative damages to DNA by indoor PM10s: their relationships with trace element compositions

Plasmid DNA assay and ICP-MS analysis were conducted in order to investigate the bioreactivity of inhalable particles （PM_ 10） and the relationship between bioreactivity and trace element compositions of PM_ 10 in Beijing air. A total of four PM_ 10 samples were carefully selected to represent the indoor and corresponding outdoor environments: one from urban smoker's home, two from non-smoker's homes, and the other from the outdoor. In general, the oxidative damage by indoor PM_ 10 was slightly higher than that of outdoor. Among the four sets of samples, the PM_ 10 from the smoker's home had a lowest tD50 （toxic dose of PM_ 10 causing 50% DNA to be damaged）, being 100 μg·mL -1, suggesting the highest bioreactivity. the heavy metals are believed to be the main reason for oxidative damage to plasmid DNA. the ICP-MS analysis combined with the DNA assay showed that the water-soluble zinc levels had better relationship with tD50 values than other elements, implying that water-soluble zinc might play an important role in the damage of DNA. It is concluded that the PM_ 10 in smoker's home had the highest level of water-soluble zinc as well as the lowest tD50 （highest bioreactivity）. Iron is considered to be one of the most bioreactive elements, but it will cause little damage to plasmid DNA, probably because iron is mainly in water-insoluble state in Beijing PM_ 10.

Neuroendocrine and squamous colonic composite carcinoma:Case report with molecular analysis

Composite colorectal carcinomas are rare. there are amodest number of cases in the medical literature,with even fewer cases describing composite carcinoma with neuroendocrine and squamous components. there areto our knowledge no reports of composite carcinomamolecular alterations. We present a case of composite carcinoma of the splenic flexure in a 33 year-old Cau-casian male to investigate the presence and prognos-tic significance of molecular alterations in rare coloniccarcinoma subtypes. Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded(FFPE) tissue was hematoxylin and eosin- and mucicar-mine-stained according to protocol,and immuno-stained with cytokeratin(CK) 7,CK20,CDX2,AE1/AE3,chromo-granin-A and synaptophysin. DNA was extracted from FFPE tissues and molecular analyses were performed according to lab-developed methods,followed by capil-lary electrophoresis. Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed admixed neuroendocrine and keratinized squamous cells. Positive nuclear CDX2 expression confirme dintestinal derivation. CK7 and CK20 were *** cells stained positively for synaptophysin and AE1/AE3 and negatively for chromogranin and mucicarmine. Hepatic metastases showed a similar immunohistochemical profile. Molecular analysis revealeda G13D KRAS mutation. BRAF mutational testing wasnegative and microsatellite instability was not *** patient had rapid disease progression on chemotherapy and died 60 d after presentation. Although theG13D KRAS mutation normally predicts an intermed iateoutcome,the aggressive tumor behavior suggests other modifying factors in rare types of colonic carcinomas.

Polyurethane Hybrid-Based Wood Adhesive: Review

Based on commercially available polyvinyl alcohol (PvA) stabilised polyvinyl acetate (PvAc), emulsion adhesives are neither heat nor moisture-resistant and show weak strength at high relative humidity and high temperatures. Pre- or post-crosslinking is another method used to manufacture a conventional vinyl-based homopolymers or copolymers system with improved water resistance. vinyl neodecanoate (veova), N-methylolacrylamide (NMA), Methacrylamide, methacrylic acid (MAA), and other self-crosslinking comonomers are typically inserted to produce highly water-resistant vinyl based homopolymers or copolymers. Additionally, organic crosslinkers like glyoxal, glutaraldehyde, citric acid, tartaric acid, and the like, as well as inorganic crosslinkers like acidic metal salts like aluminium chloride, aluminium nitrate, boric acid, and the like, can be used to prepare the highly water-resistant vinyl based homopolymers or copolymers. It is also possible to combine the self-crosslinking comonomers with the organic crosslinkers. Recently, a different hybrid chemistry has been developed that improves lap shear strength, has outstanding water resistance, good durability, and doesn’t require any additional crosslinker agents. two distinct polymers were combined to develop hybrid polymers. they usually involve mixing an organic polymer with a polymer. there are many capping agents that are used for polyurethanes to produce acrylics that are capped with polyurethane and used as an oligomer in PvAc wood glue. Here, in this paper, we reviewed the different hybrid chemistry based on polyurethane chemistry for wood bonding applications.

Sonolummescence (SL) may be explained by a theory, called the Planck theory of SL that treats she bubbles as miniature collapsing cavities. During bubble collapse, the Planck energy intrinsic to the cavity dimensions is converted to microwave photons that accumulate in the bubble wall molecules. Photons are emitted from the bubble wall molecules as the Planck energy accumulates to electronic levels.
