With mortality rates of liver cancer doubling in the last 20 years, this disease is on the rise and has become the fifth most common cancer in men and the seventh most common cancer in women. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents approximately 90% of all primary liver cancers and is a major global health concern. Patients with HCC can be managed curatively with surgical resection or with liver transplantation, if they are diagnosed at an early stage. Unfortunately, most patients with HCC present with ad-vanced stages of the disease and have underlying liver dysfunction, which allows only 15%of patients to be eligible for curative treatment. Several different treatment modal-ities are available, including locoregional therapy radiofre-quency ablation, microwave ablation, percutaneous ethanol injection, trans-arterial chemoembolization, transarterial radio-embolization, cryoablation, radiation therapy, stereo-tactic radiotherapy, systemic chemotherapy, molecularly targeted therapies, and immunotherapy. Immunotherapy has recently become a promising method for inhibiting HCC tumor progression, recurrence, and metastasis. the term"Immunotherapy"is a catch-all, encompassing a wide range of applications and targets, including HCC vaccines, adoptive cell therapy, immune checkpoint inhibitors, and use of oncolytic viruses to treat HCC. Immunotherapy in HCC is a relatively safe option for treating patients with advanced disease in the USA who are either unable to receive or failed sorafenib/lenvatinib therapy and thus may offer an addi-tional survival benefit for these patients. the purpose of this review is to elaborate on some of the most recent advance-ments in immunotherapy.

this paper examines the transport analysis, including both heat transfer and mass transfer, in hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic microorganisms towards a curved oscillatory surface. the influence of magnetic fields is also inspected in terms of their physical characteristics. to depict the phenomena of transport, modified versions of both Fick's and Fourier's laws are used. Additionally, the characteristics of both heterogeneous and homogeneous chemical reactions are also incorporated. Utilizing a curvilinear coordinate system, the flow problem is formulated as partial differential equations(PDEs)for momentum, concentration, microorganism field, and energy. An analytical solution to the obtained flow equations is achieved utilizing the homotopy analysis method(HAM).the effects of significant flow parameters on the pressure and microorganism fields, velocity, oscillation velocity, concentration, and temperature distributions are shown via graphs. Furthermore, the variations in skin friction, mass transfer rate, heat transfer rate, and local motile number due to different involved parameters are presented in tables and are analyzed in detail. Graphical results indicate that the curves of velocity and temperature fields are enhanced as the values of the solid volume fraction variables *** is also verified that the concentration rate field decreases as the values of the homogeneous reaction strength parameter and the radius of curvature parameter increase, and it increases with the Schmidt number and the heterogeneous reaction strength *** outcomes show a favorable response of the motile number to advanced values of the Peclet number, the Schmidt number, the microorganism difference parameter, and the bio-convective Lewis number.

this paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams,which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP) materials. the strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated. Additionally, a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. the curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are *** conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure. Subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. the accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANSYS, demonstrating excellent ***, a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome(POtS)is a disabling condition characterized by orthostatic intolerance with tachycardia in the absence of drop-in blood pressure.A custom-built near-infrared spectroscopy device(NIRS)is applied to monitor the muscle oxygenation,noninvasively in patients undergoing incremental head-up tilt table(HUt).Subjects(6 POtS patients and 6 healthy controls)underwent 30 mins of 70on a *** results showed a signicant difference in deoxyhemoglobin(Hb),change-in-oxygenation(△Oxy)and blood volume(△BV)between patients and healthy ***,oxyhemoglobin(HbO_(2))showed a significantly faster rate of change in the healthy controls during the first 10 mins of the tilt and during the *** NIRS muscle oximetry tool provides quantitative measurements of blood oxygenation monitoring in diseases such as POtS.

In the cationic flotation of pyrolusite using dodecyl ammine(DDA),the depressive effect of sodium carbonate andcalcium chloride on the calcite mineral was investigated systematically through flotation experiments,FtIR analysis,contact anglemeasurements and zeta potential *** microflotation experiments showed that both depressant agents decrease the flotationrecovery of calcite *** addition,sodium carbonate acts as activator agent for pyrolusite,and increases its *** experiments and contact angle measurements indicated that the selective depression effect of sodium carbonate on thecalcite mineral is more than that of calcium *** evidenced by zeta potential and Ft-IR analysis,sodium carbonate decreasesthe negative charges on the surface of calcite mineral and subsequently reduces the adsorption of DDA collector through *** a pH of7.5,using2000g/t DDA and1500g/t sodium carbonate,a pyrolusite concentrate containing almost40%MnOwith71.5%recovery is achieved by carrying out the ore flotation experiments on the tabling pre-concentrate.

the current study investigated the utilization ofε-polylysine(ε-PL)and beetroot extract(BE)as suitable nitrite substitutes in frankfurter-type sausages packaged in vacuum polyethylene *** sample’s technological,safety,antimicrobial,and organoleptic attributes were analyzed during 30 days of storage at 4℃.Compared with controls,the sausages containingϵ-PL with BE had no significant differences in the water activity and proximate *** results showed that the t5 and t4 samples had the highest residual nitrite and total phenolic contents at day ***ε-PL and BE into frankfurter-type sausages prevented the increase of pH and maintained samples’pink color and texture consistency during storage.t3 and t4 samples could effectively delay the growth of total viable count,coliform,Clostridium perfringens,mold,and yeasts within acceptable limitations during refrigerated storage.

In this paper, delay-dependent robust stabilization and H∞ control for uncertain stochastic takagi-Sugeno （t-S） fuzzy systems with discrete interval and distributed time-varying delays are discussed. the purpose of the robust stochastic stabilization problem is to design a memoryless state feedback controller such that the closed-loop system is mean-square asymptotically stable for all admissible uncertainties. In the robust H∞ control problem, in addition to the mean-square asymptotic stability requirement, a prescribed H∞ performance is required to be achieved. Sufficient conditions for the solvability of these problems are proposed in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs） and solving these LMIs, a desired controller can be obtained. Finally, two numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness and less conservativeness of our results over the existing ones.

Coriaria,the only genus under family Coriariacea,receives a lot interest among botanist due to its controversial taxonomic treatment and unique phytochemistry that could be commercially *** populations of Coriaria japonica *** in Cordillera Central Range(CCR),Philippines had never been studied in *** the need for more information on this controversial genus,the study deemed it necessary to present the distribution and morpho-anatomical description of *** *** in CCR.A total of 123 populations were documented,found at an elevation range of 1334 to 2494 m asl and stretched between16°31’37.7"to 17°5’47.8"N and 120°39’40.3"to120°55’48"*** these populations showed a narrow linear pattern of distribution concentrated at the southern portion of *** plant is a shrub with simple leaves,collateral buds,raceme inflorescence,bisexual flowers with persistent perianth forming an accessory fruit after *** terms of anatomy,much are of the usual dicot characters such as dorsiventral leaf with stomata concentrated in the lower epidermis,eustele with pith in the stem andpresence of secondary growth both on old stem and old *** findings of the study include the123 populations,the larger leaf measurements,longer petals and larger fruits than the original description given by ***,the paracytic type of stomata and presence of pith in the primary roots of *** *** are interesting since these are common monocot characters while the plant is *** findings are additional information that could help clear the controversies on the genus *** importantly,our results could provide essential information for understanding the plant and for developing conservation strategies not just for this plant but also for the other related plants in the CCR biogeographical zone.

An implantable electrical stimulator for phrenic nerve stimulation

Phrenic nerve stimulation is a technique whereby a nerve stimulator provides electrical stimulation of the phrenic nerve to cause diaphragmatic contraction in patients with respiratory failure due to cervical spinal cord injury. this paper presents an eigth-channel stimulator circuit with an output stage (electrode driving circuit) that doesn’t need off-chip blocking-capacitors and is used for phrenic nerve stimulation. this stimulator circuit utilizes only 1 output stage for 8 channels. the proposed current generator circuit in this stimulator reducing to a single step the translation of the digital input bits into the stimulus current, thus minimizing silicon area and power consumption. An 8 bit implementation is utilized for this current generator circuit. the average pulse width for this eight- channel stimulator with 1 mA current, 20 Hz frequency and 8 bits resolution, is 150 - 300 μs. the average power consumption for a single-channel stimulation is 38 mW from a 1.2 V power supply. this implantable stimulator system was simulated in HSPICE using 90 nm CMOS technology.
