＜正＞Eco-town projects in Japan are not homogenous and are of various types. therefore, categorizing Eco-town projects into some types is useful for the local governments and companies who try to develop their own Eco-town projects and also to start actually constructing and joining their new Eco-town projects. Nevertheless, few studies had tried categorizing, analyzing and evaluating Eco-town projects semi-quantitatively using various types of parameters such as statistics, which were related to local societies and industries. In former study [1-2], seventeen Eco-town Projects until the end of March in 2003 were applied into three Matsunaga’s categories （type1: promoting environmental industries, type2: treating waste, type3: organizing communities）. Authors showed that Matsunaga’s categories [3] worked well to characterize Eco-town projects. In this study, twenty-three Eco-town Projects until the end of March in 2005 were tried to apply into three Matsunaga’s categories. this time, however, more quantitative statistics were selected as parameters in order to categorize, characterize and evaluate each Eco-town Projects. Compared to the former study [1-2], it was difficult to categorize clearly into three simple Matunaga’s categories. One reason why it is difficult to categolize into three types is that each Eco-town Project has several roles and characteristics to the region along with Eco-town Projects glowing. this developing method in these studies is also useful to assist making each Eco-town Plan and constructing Eco-town Project in some regions, especially, in East Asia where many cities and regions have higher interest in making recycling complex.

A high-resolution chemostratigraphy of post-Marinoan Cap Carbonate using drill core samples in the three Gorges area, South China

Cap Carbonates overlie the Marinoan Snowball Earth-related glacial diamictite, and possibly record the drastic surface environmental change and biological evolution after the Snowball Earth. We conducted on-land drilling from the Liantuo Formation, through the Nantuo, to the lower Doushantuo Formation in the three Gorges area of South China to collect fresh, continuous samples in the three Gorges area. We obtained high-resolution chemostratigraphies of ~13C and 6180 values of carbonates from the topmost part of the Nantuo Formation to the Cap Carbonate, in order to decode the detailed surface environmental change in the shallow marine setting. the δ3C chemostratigraphy possesses some unique characteristics：（1） stable δ13C values as a whole, but ubiquitous low δ13C anomalies through the Cap Carbonate, （2） increase of the δ13C values from -3 to ＋5‰ across the C2/C3 boundary, （3） no δ13C anomaly between the CI and C2 boundary, and （4） presence of an anomalous high δ13C value （＋2.3%0） and a faint positive correlation between δ13C and δ18O values in the C1 unit. Evidence of quite low δ13C anomalies （with a nadir of -41‰）, ubiquitous negative δ13C anomalies through the Cap Carbonate, and a high 613C anomaly accompanied with a faint positive correlation between δ13C and δ18O values in the C1 unit supports decomposition and formation of methane hydrate during Cap Carbonate formation. the drastic increase of δ13C values from the upper C2 to C3 units in- dicates enhancement of primary productivity and organic carbon burial, possibly due to high continental fluxes after the Snowball Earth event, evidenced by high Sr isotope values. the increase is restricted to the proximal side of the inner shelf in South China, and the timing of the increase of δ13C values of carbonates is earlier at three Gorges area than any other area, suggesting that the enhancement of primary productivity started in the proximal environment because of higher continental influxes. the increase in oxyge

Risk factors and prevention of biliary anastomotic complications in adult living donor liver transplantation

to evaluate risk factors of biliary anastomotic complications （BACs） and outcomes according to type of biliary reconstruction. MEtHODS： A total of 33 consecutive adult living donor liver transplantation （LDLt） were reviewed, 17 of which had undergone Duct-to-Duct anastomosis （D-D）. the remaining 16 patients received Roux-en-Y anastomosis （R-Y）. the perioperative factors, such as the type of graft and the number of graft bile ducts, were analyzed retrospectively. RESULtS： the overall incidence of BACs was 39.4%. the incidence of BACs was significantly higher in the patients with than without neoadjuvant chemotherapy （71.4% vs 10%, P = 0.050）. there was no significant difference in the incidence of biliary leakage in patients with D-D vs. those with R-Y. the incidence of biliary strictures following the healing of biliary leakage was significantly higher in D-D （60%） than in R-Y （0%）（P = 0.026）. However, the incidence of BACs related bacteremia was significantly higher in R-Y than in D-D （71.4% vs 0%, P = 0.008）. In D-D, use of t-tube stent remarkably reduced the incidence of 8ACs, compared with straight tube stent （0% vs 50%, P = 0.049）. CONCLUSION： Our experience showed an increase of BACs related bacteremia in the patients with R-Y. therefore, D-D might be a preferred biliary reconstruction. However, the surgical refinement of D-D should be required because of the high incidence of biliary strictures. Use of the t-tube stent might lead to a significant reduction of BACs in D-D.

Decreased levels of plasma adiponectin associated with increased risk of colorectal cancer

AIM:to investigate the association between adiponectin levels and risk of colorectal adenoma and cancer (early and advanced).MEtHODS: A cross-sectional study in a cohort of hospital-based patients was conducted between January 2004 and March 2006 at Yamagata University Hospital. Male subjects, who had colorectal tumors detected by endoscopic examination, were enrolled according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on the t factor of the tNM system, intraepithelial carcinoma and submucosally invasive carcinoma were def ined as early cancer, and invasion into the muscularis propria or deeper was defined as advanced cancer. the plasma levels of glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high sensitivity C-reactive protein, insulin like growth factor (IGF)-1, IGF binding protein-3, adiponectin, leptin, and resistin were measured. Each factor level was designated low or high, and the risk of adenoma or cancer was estimated by univariate and multivariate logistic regression ***: We enrolled 124 male subjects (47 with adenoma, 34 with early cancer, 17 with advanced cancer, and 26 without tumors as controls). In patients with adenoma, high triglyceride and low adiponectin were associated with a significant increase in the odds ratio (OR) by univariate analysis. Only a low adiponectin level was related to increased adenoma risk, with an adjusted OR for low level (to high (≥11 μg/mL) of 5.762 (95% confidence interval (CI):1.683-19.739, P=0.005). In the patients with early cancer, high body mass index, high triglyceride, and low adiponectin were associated with a significant increase in OR in univariate analysis. Imultivariate analysis, only low adiponectin was significantly associated with early cancer, with an adjusted OR of 4.495 (95% CI:1.090-18.528, P=0.038). Effectiveness of a telenursing System to Prevent the Exacerbation of Symptoms in Patients with Cancer Undergoing Outpatient Chemotherapy

During outpatient chemotherapy, adverse events occurring at home must be carefully monitored. We have developed a tele-nursing system that can store physical information such as blood pressure and pulse measured by cancer patients in the cloud by using Bluetooth, which is wireless communication technology, and collect information from remote locations. the tele-nursing system name is t-SCOt. the purpose of this study is to conduct a randomized controlled trial to investigate the efficacy of t-SCOt intervention. Participants are those who receive t-SCOt intervention plus Care as usual as the intervention group, and those who receive only Care as usual as the control group. t-SCOt includes the following five steps: 1) Answer questions related to side effects of chemotherapy [10 items];2) Measure blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, and SPO2. the measured data is automatically saved in the cloud via Bluetooth;3) Watch a video of coping behavior for side effects;4) the data entered by the patient is visualized as a line graph;5) Utilize the videophone function with researchers if you have any problems or troubles. Utilization of ICt in telenursing makes it possible to visualize patient’s physical information and contributes to the reduction of medical expenses.

Effectiveness of a telenursing System on Side Effects of Chemotherapy by a Crossover trial

Background: this crossover trial aimed to examine the efficacy of the tele-nursing Symptom Management System for Chemotherapy in Outpatient treatment (t-SCOt) in reducing the side effects in patients undergoing out-patient chemotherapy. Methods: Using a tablet computer, participants were asked to provide information on various items, including fever, nausea, hair loss, fatigue, and vital signs. Both the participants and researchers automati-cally monitored time-dependent changes in symptoms, and the researchers proposed concrete measures to reduce patients’ complications. the primary endpoint was the M. D. Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI-J) score. the secondary endpoint, Quality of Life (QOL) was evaluated using the Quality of Life Questionnaire for Cancer Patients treated with Anticancer Drugs (QOL- ACD). Results: this study included 20 patients who met all the inclusion cri-teria, 14 of whom agreed to participate in the study. there was no significant difference between the MDASI-J and QOL-ACD pre- and post-comparison of the primary and secondary evaluations in the intervention group. the control group had significantly higher scores 3 months after the intervention for symptom intensity (p = 0.04) and symptom-induced disruption to life (p = 0.03), and the symptoms worsened. the QOL-ACD had significantly lower scores for activity (p = 0.03), overall QOL (p = 0.04), and total QOL score (p = 0.02), resulting in a lower quality of life. Conclusions: Participants used the Internet to obtain information on treatments and side effects and changed their behavior in daily life. It is speculated that the Information and Commu-nications technology (ICt) literacy in older adults has improved, and they are benefiting from digital utilization.

On the tIG-MIG hybrid welding process, MIG arc can be stable in pure argon shielded condition. therefore, this process has a possibility as a new type of welding process with high quality and high efficiency. However, the mechanism of this process is not clear due to complex interaction of tIG arc and MIG arc. In this study, we simulated arc phenomena in tIG-MIG hybrid welding process by using three-dimensional numerical model. Consequently, it was found that the high temperature region of plasma formed by collision of both plasma jets, and which provides a direct path for electric current between tIG and MIG electrodes.
