Introduction Countermovement vertical jump testing has become a staple in athlete assessment *** the popularity of jump testing has grown,a need and interest has also grown in identifying the factors that underpin high-level *** jump height alone as a variable in evaluating vertical jump performance has been questioned in athletic populations,other variables such as the reactive strength index modified(RSIm)allow for not only evaluating the outcome,but the strategy used in obtaining that *** thus,the purpose of this investigation was to examine the differences in high and low vertical jump performances,as determined by the RSIm in female collegiate *** thirty NCAA Division I female volleyball and basketball athletes performed countermovement vertical jump trials on a force *** sample was then broken into two groups as determined by median RSIm *** sample t-test were then used to compare *** High RSIm group displayed greater jump heights(Ptionally,the high performing group displayed lower eccentric duration times(Ptween groups were seen in kinetic *** the high performing group displayed faster eccentric times which translated to lower values in time to take-off though not statistical *** higher RSIm values appear to be a result of both greater jump heights and reduced time to take ***,focus being placed on the speed of the movement during training would be of benefit in improving RSIm values.

Frequency and scale of the blasting events are increasing to boost limestone production. mines areapproaching close to inhabited areas due to growing population and limited availability of land resourceswhich has challenged the management to go for safe blasts with special reference to opencast *** study aims to predict the distance covered by the flyrock induced by blasting using artificial neuralnetwork （ANN） and multi-variate regression analysis （mVRA） for better assessment. Blast design andgeotechnical parameters, such as linear charge concentration, burden, stemming length, specific charge,unconfined compressive strength （UCS）, and rock quality designation （RQD）, have been selected as inputparameters and flyrock distance used as output parameter. ANN has been trained using 95 datasets ofexperimental blasts conducted in 4 opencast limestone mines in India. thirty datasets have been used fortesting and validation of trained neural network. Flyrock distances have been predicted by ANN, mVRA,as well as further calculated using motion analysis of flyrock projectiles and compared with the observeddata. In this study, numerical simulation of a two-dimensional convective-dispersive model in Hakata Bay, Japan, is performed to analyze the impact of major river discharges due to torrential rain in Fukuoka City. tank models are applied to calculate river discharges, which are taken into consideration as river inflow in the hydrodynamic model of Hakata Bay. A two-way nesting “edge” technique is developed and applied in the model in order to consider the influence of narrow and complex geographical features. the area around “Island City” and Imazu Bay are calculated in high resolution. the resulting model has high reproducibility since the calculated river discharges, tidal current, and salinity show good agreement with observed data. to analyze the impact of large river discharges, the calculation period is set from 11 September 2002 to 21 September 2002 since there was torrential rain on September 16 in the given year in Fukuoka City (163.5 mm/d). the results show that low-salinity water covered the whole of the inner part of Hakata Bay, and water of lower salinity than outer sea water (t to the bay’s mouth two days after the torrential rain event. Fresh water covered the entire area of Imazu Bay and flowed out from the mouth of the Bay after the torrential rain event. the behavior of fresh water after a few days of torrential rain was remarkably different from normal discharge river flow. these results indicate that the environment in Imazu Bay can be degraded severely by torrential rain. therefore, countermeasures to protect ecosystems in Hakata Bay must be examined immediately.

We examine a hierarchy of minimal conceptual models for tropical cyclone *** models are framed mostly in terms of axisymmetric balance *** the first set of models,the heating rate is prescribed in such a way to mimic a deep overturning circulation with convergence in the lower troposphere and divergence in the upper troposphere,characteristic of a region of deep moist *** the second set,the heating rate is related explicitly to the latent heat release of ascending air *** release of latent heat markedly reduces the local static stability of ascending air,raising two possibilities in the balance *** first possibility is that the effective static stability and the related discriminant in the Eliassen equation for the overturning circulation in saturated air,although small,remains positive so the Eliassen equation is globally *** second possibility,the more likely one during vortex intensification,is that the effective static stability in saturated air is negative and the Eliassen equation becomes locally *** models help to understand the differences between the early Ooyama models of 1968 and 1969,the Emanuel,1989 model,and the later Emanuel models of 1995,1997 and *** provide insight also into the popular explanation of the WISHE feedback mechanism for tropical cyclone *** implications for recent work are discussed.

Semi open-cell aluminum foams having channels between individual cells were produced using low cost CaCO3foamingagent and applying the powder compact melting *** this end,the aluminum and CaCO3powder mixtures were coldcompacted into dense cylindrical precursors for foaming at specific temperatures under air *** effects of severalparameters including precursor compaction pressure,foaming agent content as well as temperature and time of the foaming processon the cell microstructure,linear expansion,relative density and compressive properties were investigated.A uniform distribution ofcells with sizes less than100μm,which form semi open-cell structures with relative densities in the range of55.4%-84.4%,*** elevation of compaction pressure between127-318mPa and blowing agent up to15%(mass fraction)led to anincrease in the linear expansion,compressive strength and densification *** varying the foaming temperature from800to1000°C,all of the investigated parameters increased except compressive strength and relative *** results indicated theoptimal foaming temperature and time as900°C and10-25min,respectively.
