Objective:to investigate the influence of ABCB1 polymorphisms on the plasma level of efavirenz in thai adult cases infected with ***:A single nucleotide polymorphism of ABCB13435 C>t(rs1045642)in the gene encoding ABCB1 was genotyped using real-time PCR-based alleles in 149 HIV-infected thai adults receiving efavirenz *** concentrations of efavirenz were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography 12 hr after *** relationship between plasma efavirenz concentrations and ABCB13435 C>t polymorphisms was ***:Logistic regression analysis showed no significant predictors of high plasma efavirenz concentration in relation to age,gender,body weight,CD4 count and plasma HIV-1 RNA,blood biochemical parameters,antiretroviral duration or ABCB13435 C>t polymorphisms,except for height(OR=0.902,95%CI:0.835-0.973)(Pthe minor allele frequency of ABCB13435 C>t *** frequency of the heterozygous mutant ABCB13435 C/t was 53.02%(n=79),ABCB13435 t/t homozygous mutant was 18.12%(n=21)and the wild type ABCB13435 C/C genotype was 28.86%(n=43).the overall median plasma concentration of efavirenz in 149 HIV-infected thai cases was 2.41 mg/L[IQR:(1.46-4.12)mg/L].the plasma concentration of efavirenz was higher in cases with ABCB13435 t/t homozygous mutant[2.73 mg/L,IQR:(2.02-4.19)mg/L]and ABCB13435 C/t heterozygous mutant[2.29 mg/L,IQR:(1.41-4.28)mg/L]genotypes compared to the wild type ABCB13435 C/C homozygous[2.1 mg/L,IQR:(1.37-3.53)mg/L].However,there was no statistically significant difference in the efavirenz concentration between the different genotypes(P>0.05).Objective:to investigate the influence of ABCB1 polymorphisms on the plasma level of efavirenz in thai adult cases infected with ***:A single nucleotide polymorphism of ABCB13435 C>t(rs1045642)in the gene encoding ABCB1 was genotyped using real-time PCR-based alleles in 149 HIV-infected thai adults receiving efavirenz *** concentrations

Improving cover and management factor (C-factor) estimation using remote sensing approaches for tropical regions

the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE)'s cover and management factor (C-factor) is one of the most difficult factors to obtain,mainly because long-term monitoring soil erosion plots under natural rainfall are ***,remote sensing approaches have been used as an alternative for obtaining this ***,there is a lack of studies comparing values of this factor computed from remote sensing approaches with measured *** this study,we compare two widely used remote sensing approaches (CrA and CVK) to estimate the C-factor based on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) with the literature (CLIt) and field experimental data..We also investigated the influence of C-factor methods on the prediction of soil loss and sediment yield (SY) using measured data in the Guariroba basin,Central-West *** obtained mean C-factor values of 0.032,0.023 and 0.137 for CLIt,CrA and CVK,*** found an average annual soil loss of 2.20 tha-1 yr-1,2.02 t ha-1 yr-1 and 10.07 tha-1 yr-1 and SY values of 6875 tyr-1,6468 tyr-1 and 33,435 t yr1,for CLIt,CrA and CVK *** results indicated a significant improvement in soil loss and SY estimations by using the CrA approach developed for tropical regions,with a bias of 13% to the measured SY (5709tyr-1).We conclude that the CrA method present the most suitable alternative to compute soil loss and SY in tropical ***,this approach allows large-scale evaluation and temporal monitoring,therefore enhancing multi spatial and temporal assessment of soil erosion processes.

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNts) were submitted to chemical and thermal treatments in order to incorporate different heteroatoms on the surface. O-, S- and N-containing groups were successfully introduced onto the CNts without significant changes of the textural properties. the cata-lytic activity of these heteroatom-modified CNts was studied in two liquid phase oxidation processes: catalytic ozonation and catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO), using oxalic acid and phenol as model compounds. In both cases, the presence of strongly acidic O-containing groups was found to decrease the catalytic activity of the CNts. On the other hand, the introduction of S species (mainly sulfonic acids) enhanced the removal rate of the model compounds, particularly in the CWAO of phenol. Additional experiments were performed with a radical scavenger and sodium persulfate, in order to clarify the reaction mechanism. Nitrogen functionalities improve the catalytic performance of the original CNts, regardless of the process or of the pollutant.

the adoption of the ＂new public management＂ in the hospital sector brought about greater presence and power to professional managers in hospitals, thus increasing the risk of conflict in the doctor-manager relationship. Aiming to enrich the discussion on the factors that could be the bases for this conflict and considering the role of accounting, the study presented here corresponds, basically, to what we call ＂content analysis＂ of qualitative studies. the results demonstrate that the Portuguese doctors as the sample studied accept, in essence, the principles of enterprise management and recognize the use of accounting information in the scope of their functions as long as they are called to participate as legitimate actors, and authorities respect their desires to preserve a practice which they consider of quality.

Objective:the present study investigated antiglycation and antioxidant activities of crude dry extract and saponin fraction of tribulus *** also developed a method of microencapsulation and evaluated antiglycation and antioxidant activities of crude dry extract and saponin fraction before and after microcapsule ***:Antiglycation activity was determined by relative electrophoretic mobility(REM),free amino groups and inhibition of advanced glycation end-product(AGE)*** activity was determined by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH),ferric ion-reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),nitric oxide(NO)and thiobarbituric acid reactive species(tBARS)*** were prepared using maltodextrin as wall material and freeze-drying as encapsulation *** characterization of microcapsules was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy,and encapsulation efficiency and microcapsule release were determined by total saponins *** and antioxidant assays were performed using crude dry extract and saponin fraction of *** before and after ***:Saponin fraction showed an increase of 32.8%total ***-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis showed the presence of saponins in the obtained *** evaluation by REM demonstrated that samples before and after release presented antiglycation activity similar to bovine serum albumin treated with ***,samples inhibited AGE formation,highlighting treatment with saponin fraction after release(89.89%).Antioxidant tests demonstrated antioxidant activity of the *** dry extract before encapsulation presented the highest activities in DPPH(92.00%)and tBARS(32.49%)*** fraction before encapsulation in FRAP test(499μmol trolox equivalent per gram of dry sample)and NO test(15.13μmol nitrite formed per gram of extract)presented the highest ***:this study presen

BACKGROUND Several cutaneous manifestations such as urticarial rash,erythematous patches and chilblain-like lesions have been described in young adults with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)and are present in up to 20%patients,but few reports exist describing histopathological and immunophenotypic characteristics of dermatological lesions in older *** aim was to characterize skin lesions in elderly patients during late stages of COVID-19 from clinical,histological and immunophenotypic *** SUMMARY three patients,admitted for COVID-19,and who developed cutaneous manifestations underwent skin *** analysis for CD20,CD3,CD4 and CD8 was performed on skin biopsies to assess immune cell ***1a was used as a marker of Langerhans cells,and CD31 as a marker of endothelial *** the three study patients,cutaneous manifestations were evident in the late-stage of COVID-19(mean time from the first positive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)swab to rash onset was 35 d).Skin biopsies showed a similar pattern of t lymphocyte infiltration in all ***,a chronic dermatitis with perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate was observed with predominance of CD3+t-cell(CD3+).CONCLUSION Our study confirms previous *** and immunophenotypic patterns in our patients confirm results described in the two previous reported *** pattern is similar to what is found in some lympho-proliferative ***,since these findings are non-specific,SARS-CoV-2 infection should be suspected.

Studies in recent years have shown that aquatic pollution by microplastics(MPs)can be considered to pose additional stress to amphibian ***,our knowledge of how MPs affect amphibians is very rudimentary,and even more limited is our understanding of their effects in combination with other emerging ***,we aimed to evaluate the possible toxicity of polyethylene MPs(PE-MPs)(alone or in combination with a mix of pollutants)on the health of Physalaemus cuvieri *** 30 days of exposure,multiple biomarkers were measured,including morphological,biometric,and developmental indices,behavioral parameters,mutagenicity,cytotoxicity,antioxidant and cholinesterase responses,as well as the uptake and accumulation of PE-MPs in *** on the results,there was no significant change in any of the parameters measured in tadpoles exposed to treatments,but induced stress was observed in tadpoles exposed to PE-MPs combined with themixture of pollutants,reflecting significant changes in physiological and biochemical *** principal component analysis(PCA)and integrated biomarker response(IBR)assessment,effects induced by pollutants in each test group were distinguished,confirming that the exposure of *** tadpoles to the PE-MPs in combination with a mix of emerging pollutants induces an enhanced stress response,although the uptake and accumulation of PE-MPs in these animalswas ***,our study provides newinsight into the danger to amphibians of MPs coexisting with other pollutants in aquatic environments.
