Eight.marker-assist.d sel.ct.on (MAS) backcross-derived bush bean l.nes wit. red seed t.p.s, al.ngside t.o checks, were eval.at.d in a randomized comp.et. bl.ck design rep.icat.d t.o t.mes in five l.cat.ons for t.ree consecut.ve crop.growing seasons in 2021 and 2022. t.e st.dy aimed t. ident.fy l.nes wit. bot. high st.bl. yiel.s and enhanced resist.nce t. ant.racnose disease for p.t.nt.al.rel.ase and ut.l.zat.on in fut.re bean variet.l.devel.p.ent.in Uganda. Agronomic t.ait., incl.ding days t. 50% fl.wering, days t. 90% p.ysiol.gical.mat.rit., seed yiel., seed yiel. comp.nent., and ant.racnose disease react.on under nat.ral.infest.t.on were assessed. t.e resp.nse t. ant.racnose disease was furt.er assessed using six isol.t.s of Col.et.t.ichum l.ndemut.ianum rep.esent.ng six different.races. Resul.0} indicat.d t.at.t.e agronomic p.rformances of t.e MAS backcross-derived bush bean l.nes were st.t.st.cal.y comp.rabl. t. t.e recurrent.p.rent.NABE14. Sp.cifical.y, six l.nes exhibit.d st.t.st.cal.y equal.t. or higher p.rformance t.an NABE14 in t.rms of seed yiel., t.t.l.number of seeds and number of p.ds p.r p.ant. t.e combined anal.sis of variance for seed yiel. showed significant.(p.Co-4p.2p. and Co-5 ant.racnose resist.nce genes in t.e derived l.ne.
