In t.e present.work, t.e negat.ve parit. st.t.s in ^(39)Cl are invest.gat.d t.rough t.e β decay spect.oscopy of 39 S. Newly observed γ t.ansit.ons t.get.er wit. a new st.t. are assigned int. t.e level scheme of ^(39)Cl. t.e spin parit. of 5/2^- for t.e lowest.negat.ve parit. st.t. in ^(39)Cl is reconfirmed using t.e combined γ t.ansit.on informat.on. t.ese syst.mat.c observat.ons of t.e negat.ve parit. st.t.s in ^(39)Cl allow a comprehensive comparison wit. t.e t.eoret.cal descript.ons. t.e lowest.5/2^- st.t. in ^(39)Cl remains exot.c in t.rms of comparisons wit. exist.ng t.eoret.cal calculat.ons and wit. t.e neighboring isot.pes having similar single-part.cle configurat.ons. Object.ve: t. clarify t.e preoperat.ve diagnost.c rat. and elucidat. t.e morphological feat.res of t.yroglossal duct.cancer t.rough a lit.rat.re search on cases report.d in Japan. Met.ods: A search of a medical dat.base (Japan Medical Abst.act. Societ.) ident.fied 40 st.dies on t.yroglossal duct.cancer in Japanese pat.ent. bet.een 1976 and 2014. A t.t.l of 47 cases, including t.e present.case, are summarized herein. Pat.ent.charact.rist.cs, preoperat.ve diagnosis, and morphological feat.res were reviewed and analyzed. Morphological feat.res of t.e int.rnal port.ons in t.e cyst.c lesions were classified using t.e previously report.d Yokosuka Kyosai Hospit.l crit.ria for ult.asonography findings of t.yroid cyst.c t.mors. Result.: Preoperat.ve diagnosis was described for 43 of t.e 47 cases. Malignancy was suspect.d in 18 (41.9%) of t.e 43 cases on t.e basis of fine needle aspirat.on (FNA) cyt.logy (presence of suspect.d papillary carcinoma cells) and imaging st.dies (presence of calcificat.ons), 12 and 6 cases, respect.vely. Preoperat.ve FNA was performed in 24 cases wit. a correct.diagnosis obt.ined in only 12 (50%) cases. Morphological feat.res were evaluat.d by preoperat.ve imaging st.dies and/or post.perat.ve hist.pat.ology. We found 6 cases (15%) wit. solid lesions, 32 cases (80%) wit. cyst.c lesions cont.ining a solid part. and 2 cases (5%) wit. solo cyst.c lesions, respect.vely. Calcificat.on was observed in 28 (72.5%) cases. We furt.er examined t.e int.rnal morphology of 32 cases wit. cyst.c lesions according t. t.e crit.ria for ult.asonography findings of t.yroid cyst.c t.mors described in Met.ods. Of t.e 32 cases, 25 (62.5%) and 7 (17.5%) were classified as “eccent.ic acut. angle t.pe (Ea)” and “mult.sept.t. t.pe (M)”, respect.vely. t.e boundary bet.een t.e solid part.and t.e cyst.c part.was irregular in all 7 “M” cases.
