the purpose of this study is to experimentally analyze the thermal behavior of the walls of a prototype experimental house. A Datalogger and thermocouples were used on the experimental house to determine the temperatures of the exterior and interior walls. Also, “MSr” type HygroPuce was used to determine the exterior and interior temperatures and relative humidity of the habitat. the results show that a wall made of bio-based materials with a mixture of “earth + Hibiscus cannabinus L. fibers” allows reducing the fluctuations of the interior temperatures. We observe the peaks of temperatures on the external walls at 11:00 am and for the interior walls, the peaks are observed at 5:00 pm. the maximum thermal phase shift between the peaks of the external and internal temperatures is about 7.5 hours, and the maximum damping factor is 0.9. Also, we note that the thermal performance of the material used in the design of the envelope of the house is determined by the improvement of the response of the envelope in front of the external thermal solicitations.

this work presents a contribution to the study of the process of cold production by adsorption from solar energy. In this paper, we discuss a comparative study of the operation of a solar adsorption refrigerator using the silica gel-water couple and the zeolite-water couple through dynamic modeling and simulation. the mathematical model representing the evolution of heat and mass transfer at each component of the adsorption solar refrigerator has been developed. It appears from this study that the evolution of the temperature of the two adsorbents (zeolite and silica gel) is quasi-similar throughout the operating cycle. However, the maximum mass of water vapor adsorbed by the silicagel (0.24 kg/kg) is higher than that adsorbed by the zeolite (0.201 kg/kg). In the same way, the mass of water vapor cycled, obtained with the silicagel-water couple which is 0.14 kg/kg, is higher than that obtained with the zeolite-water couple which is 0.081 kg/kg. therefore, the amount of cold produced 9.178 MJ and the solar coefficient of performance 0.378 obtained with the solar refrigerator using the silica gel-water couple, are better.

Background In developing countries,there is a lack of epilepsy knowledge among health *** objective of this study was to assess the knowledge,attitude and practice concerning epilepsy among nurses and midwives working in primary health care settings in *** We carried out a cross-sectional study in the health districts of Ouagadougou from August 1st to September 15th,*** nurses and midwives working in three health districts were included in this *** A total of 213 participants with a mean age of 39.5 years were included in the survey;79.81%of them had a general certification in secondary education and 62%had a professional experience of more than 10 *** 99%of the participants had not received training on epilepsy-related care during the last six *** addition,74.5%of the participants had a good knowledge on epilepsy and 65%had a good practice toward *** level of knowledge was associated with the workplace,years of training,and the professional *** level of knowledge about epilepsy was also associated with the level of education,while there was a significant link between professional status and nurses’level of practice in the management of *** Efforts must be made to provide continuing education for nurses in order to improve their knowledge on epilepsy.

In this paper, a literature review on thermocline storage performance for Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plant storage systems has been conducted. The efficiency of materials to store heat depends on the storage process like sensible heat storage, latent heat storage and thermochemical one and also on their properties. This study has been focused on sensible heat storage materials especially thermocline storage system (DMT) using eco-materials which has a high potentiality (35%) to reduce CSP cost. There is a possibility to use natural rocks, industry waste and to develop also materials for a thermocline storage within a bed called packed bed using one tank. The thermal storage materials should have some optimum parameters (particle diameter less than 2 cm and good thermo-physical properties) to achieve better thermal storage performance (thermal cycle efficiency, extraction factor). the accelerated depletion of oil reserves and the often exorbitant cost of fossil fuels contribute to the development of fuels from renewable sources. the objective of this work is to analyze the influence of the properties of renewable fuels on their evaporation in natural convection, their combustion and their use in internal combustion engines. A summary of the various numerical and experimental works from the literature has been presented in this work. this work focuses on the numerical modelling of the natural convection evaporation of an isolated drop of a liquid fuel in natural convection. the transfers in the liquid and vapour phases are described by the conservation equations of mass and species, momentum and energy. the main feature of this work is the consideration of advection, azimuthal angle and thickness of the vapour phase of the drop during evaporation of the drop.

Background:Epilepsy is the most common neurological disease in the *** objective of the study was to determine the knowledge,attitude and practice of driver's license applicants and instructors in driving schools on epilepsy in Burkina ***:this cross-sectional study was carried out from January 7th to March 7th 2020 in 21 driving schools approved by the National Driver License Authority in the city of *** driver applicants and one instructor were selected in each driving school,resulting in a total of 315 driver applicants and 21 instructors in the ***:the mean age of participants was 29.91±7.63 *** of the driver applicants included in the study was once experienced a seizure *** respondents had heard of *** main source of epilepsy information was from family(42.5%).two hundred and twenty-six respondents(673%)had witnessed an epileptic seizure.A majority of participants(55.9%)believed that persons with epilepsy be not permitted to drive a motor *** 44.0% of participants thought that people with epilepsy should be permitted to drive under certain *** hundred and four(30.9%)participants suggested that people with epilepsy be permitted to drive a light *** hundred and forty-one(42.0%)suggest to withdraw the driving license for lifetime if a driver had an epileptic seizure attack;while twenty-three(6.8%)participants recommended suspension of driver license for 12 ***:Efforts should be made to improve awareness and education among license applicants and instructors on the driving by people with epilepsy.

Objective: to describe the clinical and etiological characteristics of hemiplegia in the northern region of Burkina Faso. Methodology: this was transversal with a descriptive and analytical study of one hundred and ninety-six hemiplegic patients in charge of general medicine at the Ouahigouya regional University Hospitalfrom November 2015 to November 2017. results: the majority of patients had a brutal hemiplegia predominant on the right. the sample consisted mainly of male patients with a mean age of 58 years. High blood pressure was the main factor of vascular risk. the cerebrovascular accident (58.7%) was the main pathology diagnosed. Most patients received symptomatic management. Physiotherapy was performed in 29.6% of patients. the clinical outcome at discharge was marked by the persistence of hemiplegia in more than 90.8% of patients. there was an improvement in the average MIF score at the exit. Conclusion: the lack of computed tomography and neuro-resuscitation unit were the main factors limiting the management of hemiplegia in our context.

Introduction: Diabetic neuropathy is one of the most common chronic complications of diabetes. Most of the studies on the subject in the sub region, particularly in Burkina Faso, dealt it with the study of the complications of diabetes, or one of its components. Our study was designed to study in particular in all its aspects, by searching for its peculiarities in our context, for improvement of its support. Methodology: this is a cross-sectional descriptive study carried out in 150 diabetic patients aged at least 15 years followed in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yalgado Ouedraogo University teaching Hospital. All patients included had agreed to participate in our survey after informed consent. We collected the data during the period from 2015 November to 2016 June. Each patient was evaluated by the DN4 questionnaire and clinically by a neurological examination. We determinated the frequency, the sociodemographic, clinical and therapeutic characteristics of diabetes neuropathy and its related factors. results: the frequency of diabetic neuropathy was 80.7%. Peripheral neuropathies were seen in 81.8% of cases and autonomic neuropathies in 72.7% of cases. Autonomic neuropathy was dominated by the DAN (59.1%), and erectile dysfunction (44%). there was a high comorbidity with physical inactivity (66.9%), obesity (49.4%) and hypertension (38.8%). there were poorly controlled patients in 38.8%. A link was found between t2DM and neuropathy (p = 0.014). Painful diabetes was related to the quality of glycemic control (p = 0.007), and hypertension (p = 0.021). A link was also found between tobacco consumption (p rogenital autonomic neuropathy. Conclusion: Diabetic neuropathies are very common in our context and could be a haunting to the practitioner with the progression of diabetes and its corollary of degenerative complications. there was a significant association between type 2 Diabetes mellitus and the presence of peripheral diab

Extracranial Carotid Atherosclerosis and Acute Ischemic Stroke in a tertiary Hospital in Burkina Faso

Objective: to determine the prevalence and risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis among ischemic stroke patients in a tertiary hospital in Burkina Faso. Methodology: this was a descriptive and analytical retrospective study of patients admitted at neurology department of Yalgado Ouedraogo University teaching Hospital with ischemic stroke and cerebral large vessel atherosclerosis in the period from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2016. results: the prevalence of extracranial carotid atherosclerosis was 23.9%. the mean age of patients was 63.5 years (range 31 - 90 years). the study population included 65% of men and 35% of women. Hypertension was the most common vascular risk factor (75.6%). Stroke was mostly located in the anterior circulation in 23.9%. Low HDL-C was present in 52% of patients. the majority of plaque was homogeneous (85.2%). Plaque were located in carotid bulbar artery (38.5%) followed by common carotid artery (28.2%) and extracranial internal carotid artery (18.6%). According to cerebral lesion, plaque was bilateral in 45.5%, ipsilateral in 42.3% and contralateral in 12.1% of cases. tight stenosis was found in 30.1% of patients. there was a significant link between male gender and tight stenosis (p = 0.004). Aspirin was the most antiplatelet therapy used (95.5%). Statin therapy was used in 91% of patients. the mean duration of hospitalization was 12.5 days with a mortality rate of 7.1%. Conclusions: Our study showed that extra carotid atherosclerosis was the most common cause of ischemic stroke in Burkina Faso. Man gender was most represented than women.
