Geochemical Characterization of Organic Rich Black Rocks of the Niutitang Formation to Reconstruct the Paleoenvironmental Settings during Early Cambrian Period from Xiangxi Area,Western Hunan,China

The Niutitang Formation in the South China Block might be a source of hydrocarbon as it contains an enormous quantity of organic *** rock of the Early Cambrian Niutitang Formation is widely distributed in the Yangtze region,but detailed geochemical understanding of it is still *** research discusses the detailed geochemical characteristics of the Niutitang Formation to reconstruct the paleoenvironmental conditions,employing total organic carbon(TOC)content,major,trace,and rare earth element *** this purpose,black rock specimens of the Niutitang Formation from two outcrop sections were utilized for geochemical characterization,and the results compared with another eight sections from the South China *** average total organic carbon in these sediments is significantly higher(5.80 wt.%).In the platform region,lower quantities of TOC indicate a poor potential to produce *** the same time,significantly higher TOC is observed in the deep shelf and slope sediments,indicating a significant potential to produce *** average Ce,Eu and Y anomalies from both Longbizui and Sancha sections studied are 0.74,0.86,1.77,1.07,and 1.19,1.30,*** chemical index of alteration(CAI)throughout the Yangtze block is higher(averaging 71.32)than that of Post Archean Australian Shale(PAAS 69),indicating a moderately weathered source of the Niutitang Formation relative to *** the sediments are moderately weathered,this suggests these rocks might have been derived from felsic rocks,mainly *** normalization of REEs in the black rocks reveals a reduction of light REEs with increase in heavy REEs ***,a positive Eu anomaly,negative Ce anomaly,and a moderate Y/Ho(34.61)are clues to a hybrid depositional mechanism associated with hydrothermal action and terrigenous *** anomalies are also evidence of upwelling in the paleo-ocean and mixing of organic matter,which created anoxic bottom water

Feelings and Spiritual Practices of Patients with Mastectomy: A Qualitative Study from Turkey

Purpose: This study was conducted to describe feelings and spiritual practices of patients with mastectomy. Method: The study was employed a qualitative design at a private university hospital oncology unit in Ankara, Turkey. Interviews were performed with 20 mastectomized women. Results: The findings indicated that commonly used in several spiritual practices;prayer was used by 96%, of the patients, and 94% requested that others pray for their health, the practice to positive reframing (76%), the practice to planning for family-friends activities (74%), visiting mos-que-shrine (73%), and the practice to reading Quran (71%). The categorization of the data led to identification of three thematic units. The first we described as “Experiencing the consequences of illness as a disorder”. The second was “Restoring a sense of order to life”, and the third was “Living with the new condition”. Conclusion: We concluded that a having mastectomy was difficult for the subjects. In this respect, nurses’ role is vital to help women with breast cancer in such a difficult and modifying process as breast removal.

Effect of calcium and light on the germination of Urochondra setulosa under different salts

Urochondra setulosa （Trin.） C.E. Hubbard is a coastal halophytic grass thriving on the coastal dunes along the Pakistani seashore. This grass could be useful in coastal sand dune stabilization using seawater irrigation. The purpose of this investigation was to test the hypothesis that Ca^2＋（0.0, 2.5, 5.0, 10.0 and 50.0 mmol/L） alleviates the adverse effects of KC1, MgSO4, NaC1 and Na2SO4 at 0, 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 mmol/L on the germination of Urochondra setulosa. Seed germination was inhibited with increase in salt concentration with few seeds germinated at and above 400 mmol/L concentration. No seed germinated in any of the KC1 treatments. Inclusion of CaC12 substantially alleviated the inhibitory effects of all salts. Germination was higher under photoperiod in comparison to those seeds germinated under complete darkness. Among the CaC12 concentrations used, 10 mmol/L was most effective in alleviating salinity effects and allowing few seeds to germinate at 1000 mmol/L KC1, MgSO4, NaC1 and Na2SO4 solution.

Determination of the heavy metal content of Entoban herbal medicinal product

The levels of As, Cd, Pb and Hg were investigated in the medicinal herbal syrup Entoban, which is widely used in the management of non-specific diarrhea and acute intestinal infections of various etiologies. The ingredients in Entoban syrup include 6 potent herbal drugs: Aegle marmelose, Berberis aristata, Butea frondosa, Holarrhena antidysenterica, Myrtus communis, and Quercus infectoria. Entoban medicinal plant syrup was analyzed for As, Cd, Pb and Hg by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy(FAAS). Contents of heavy metals in the examined samples were in the range: As(0.074–10.0 ppm); Cd(0.020–0.3 ppm); Pb(0.00–10.0 ppm) and Hg(0.00–1.0 ppm). Results were compared with permissible limit acceptability intake(AHPA). According to determined amounts of heavy metals, the investigated Entoban syrup samples were validated and considered safe for human consumption.

Morphometric analysis and fluorescent microsatellite markers to evaluate the genetic diversity of five populations of Penaeus japonicus in China

To understand the current status of germplasm resources of Penaeus japonicus,in this study,genetic diversity was analyzed based on morphometric analysis and fluorescent microsatellite *** morphometric analysis,the cumulative ratios of the PC1 and PC2(85.90%)were greater than 75%,which can explain the morphological variation among *** microsatellite analysis,the allele number in 10 microsatellite loci ranged from 27 to 53,and the effective allele number ranged from 21 to *** observed heterozygosity ranged from 0.463 to 0.983,whereas expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.932 to 0.966,and the average polymorphism information content was 0.947,which indicated a high level of genetic *** unbiased genetic distance among populations ranged from 0.230 to 0.431,and the genetic similarity coefficient ranged from 0.654 to *** of molecular variance(AMOVA)showed that the genetic variation within individuals was the main source of variation,accounting for 88.55%,and only 1.49%of the genetic variation came from among populations.

Thickness dependent manipulation of uniaxial magnetic anisotropy in Fe-thin films by oblique deposition

The uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of obliquely deposited Fe（001）/Pd film on MgO（001） substrate is investigated as a function of deposition angle and film thickness. The values of incidence angle of Fe flux relative to surface normal of the substrate are 0°, 45°, 55°, and 70°, respectively. In-situ low energy electron diffraction is employed to investigate the surface structures of the samples. The Fe film thicknesses are determined to be 50 ML, 45 ML, 32 ML, and 24 ML（1 ML = 0.14 nm） by performing x-ray reflectivity on the grown samples, respectively. The normalized remanent magnetic saturation ratio and coercivity are obtained by the longitudinal surface magneto-optical Kerr effect. Here, the magnetic anisotropy constants are quantitatively determined by fitting the anisotropic magnetoresistance curves under different *** measurements show four-fold cubic anisotropy in a large Fe film thickness（50 ML） sample, but highly in-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropies in thin films（24 ML and 32 ML） samples. In the obliquely deposited Fe films, the coercive fields and the uniaxial magnetic anisotropies（UMAs） increase as the deposition angle becomes more and more tilted. In addition, the UMA decreases with the increase of the Fe film thickness. Our work provides the possibility of manipulating uniaxial magnetic anisotropy, and paves the way to inducing UMA by oblique deposition with smaller film thickness.

BIOCOMPATIBILITY OF A PDMS-COATED MICRO-DEVICE:BLADDER VOLUME MONITORING SENSOR

We evaluated the biocompatibility of a dimethylpolysiloxane-coated micro-device which had been designed for monitoring real-time bladder volume in previous studies. The extract assay with dimethylpolysiloxane which had been used for coating the micro-device to measure the bladder volume was performed as an in vitro cytotoxicity test. For in vivo biocompatibility testing, the inflammatory responses around the implantation site of the micro-device in subcutaneous tissue of rat were assessed by light microscope with H＆E stain and fluorescence microscope with ED1 stain and von Willebrand factor stain. The averages of cell viability in dimethylpolysiloxane group were 84.6% and 82.3% at 24 h and 72 h incubation, respectively. The qualitative evaluations with light and fluorescence microscope revealed that the inflammatory changes peaked during 2 weeks but almost disappeared at 4 weeks after implantation of devices. The quantitative evaluations for granulation layer formation and neovascularization showed that the thickness of the layer in dimethylpolysiloxane group peaked during 2 weeks but it came to be stabilized at 4 weeks as thin as at 2 weeks in control group, and the frequency of neovascularization was higher in dimethylpolysiloxane group than in control group but it was not increased with time. The dimethylpolysiloxane-coated micro-device is thought be a reliable bio-medical device.

Regulatory Genes Through Robust-SNR for Binary Classification Within Functional Genomics Experiments

The current study proposes a novel technique for feature selection by inculcating robustness in the conventional Signal to noise Ratio(SNR).The proposed method utilizes the robust measures of location i.e.,the“Median”as well as the measures of variation i.e.,“Median absolute deviation(MAD)and Interquartile range(IQR)”in the *** this way,two independent robust signal-to-noise ratios have been *** proposed method selects the most informative genes/features by combining the minimum subset of genes or features obtained via the greedy search approach with top-ranked genes selected through the robust signal-to-noise ratio(RSNR).The results obtained via the proposed method are compared with wellknown gene/feature selection methods on the basis of performance metric i.e.,classification error rate.A total of 5 gene expression datasets have been used in this *** subsets of informative genes are selected by the proposed and all the other methods included in the study,and their efficacy in terms of classification is investigated by using the classifier models such as support vector machine(SVM),Random forest(RF)and k-nearest neighbors(k-NN).The results of the analysis reveal that the proposed method(RSNR)produces minimum error rates than all the other competing feature selection methods in majority of the *** further assessment of the method,a detailed simulation study is also conducted.

Influence of temperature and Ca(OH)2 on releasing tar and coal gas during lignite coal pyrolysis and char gasification

The yield of tar and syngas has been investigated by catalytic pyrolysis of Pingzhuang lignite(PZL)over Ca(OH)2 catalyst in temperature range of 600℃-1000℃in a tube *** results show that the yield of volatile pyrolysis increases and char decreases with rising temperature for both raw and catalyzed Pingzhuang *** hydrogen fraction(H2)increased from 20%to 40%for the PZL sample;but,for the PZL-Ca(OH)2 sample,H2 fraction fluctuated randomly between 35%to 42%,with the maximum H2 fraction found at 1000℃.The Gaschromatography mass-spectroscopic(GC-MS)analysis revealed that the maximum tar yield at 800℃and 700℃was obtained for PZL and PZL-Ca(OH)2,*** surface morphology of PZL and PZL-Ca(OH)2 chars underwent different transformation in the presence of catalyst as illustrated by SEM/EDX,FTIR,and BET ***,char sample was investigated for the carbon conversion and reactivity index using TGA analysis under N2 and CO atmosphere.
