Associations of autoantibodies and clinical profile of the patients with systemic sclerosis

Background:Systemic sclerosis is characterized by the involvement of organs and the presence of specific *** objectives of this study were to identify the autoantibodies and to determine their association with the selected clinical features of the disease among Bangladeshi systemic sclerosis ***:This cross-sectional study was performed at the rheumatology outpatient clinic of Bangabandhu Sheikh mujib medical *** against nine systemic sclerosis-specific antigens were tested using an enzyme-linked immunoassay immunoblot *** clinical features of patients with positive and negative autoantibody were examined by χ^(2) or Fisher's exact ***:A total of 71 patients with systemic sclerosis(66;93.0%female)were *** mean age at disease onset was 33.2 ***-seven(80.3%)patients had diffuse cutaneous *** of nine autoantibodies,four were positive,anti-topoisomerase-I(57.7%),anti-U1 ribonucleic protein(21.1%),anti-RNA polymerase Ⅲ(18.3%),and anticentromere antibodies(4.2%).Eleven(15.5%)patients were negative for any antibodies and 11 patients were positive for at least two ***-U3-RNP,anti-PmScl,anti-Ku,and anti-Th/To auto antibodies were absent in all ***-RNA polymerase III was associated with raised pulmonary arterial systolic pressure(PASP)and anti-U1-RNP with decreased forced vital capacity(FVC).Conclusions:Anti-topoisomerase-I was the commonest autoantibody in patients with systemic sclerosis in ***-RNA polymerase III antibody had significant association with raised PASP and anti-U1-RNP with decreased FVC.

multi-Physics Numerical Simulation of Thermoelectric Devices

To optimize the performance of a thermoelectric device for a specific application, the device should be uniquely designed for the application. Achieving an optimum design requires accurate measurements and credible analysis to evaluate the performance of the device and its relationship with the device parameters. To do that, we designed, fabricated, and tested four devices based on Bi2Te3 and Sb2Te3. To evaluate the accuracy of our analysis, experimental measurements were compared with the numerical simulation performed using COmSOLTm. The two sets of results were found to be in full agreement. This is a proof of the accuracy of our experimental measurements and the credibility of our simulation. The study shows that testing or simulating the devices without heat sink will lead to skewed results. This is because the junction will not hold its temperatures value, but will, instead, automatically change its value to the direction of thermal equilibrium. The study shows also that there is no reciprocity between the input and the output characteristics of the devices. Therefore, a device optimized for cooling and heating may not be automatically optimized for energy harvesting. For heating and cooling, temperature sensitivity should be optimized;while for energy harvesting, voltage sensitivity should be optimized. Using heat sink, our devices achieved a voltage sensitivity of 187.77 μV/K and a temperature sensitivity of 6.12 K/mV.

Ambient noise h/V spectral ratio in site effects estimation in Fateh jang area, Pakistan

Local geology or local site effect is a crucial component while conducting seismic risk assessment studies. Investigations made by utilization of ambient noise are an effective tool for local site estimation. The present study is conducted to perform site response analysis at 13 different sites within urban settlements of Fateh jang area （Pakistan）. The aim of this study was achieved by utilizing Nakamura method or h/V spectral ratio method. Some important local site parameters, e.g., the fundamental fre- quencies f0 of soft sediments, amplitudes A0 of corre- sponding h/V spectral ratios, and alluvium thicknesses over 13 sites within the study area, were measured and analyzed. The results show that the study area reflects low fundamental frequency fo. The fundamental frequencies of the sediments are highly variable and lie in a range of 0.6-13.0 hz. Similarly, amplification factors at these sites are in the range of 2.0-4.0.

Improved delay-dependent robust h_∞ control of an uncertain stochastic system with interval time-varying and distributed delays

In this paper, the robust h∞control problem for a class of stochastic systems with interval time-varying and distributed delays is discussed. The system under study involves parameter uncertainty, stochastic disturbance, interval time-varying,and distributed delay. The aim is to design a delay-dependent robust h∞control which ensures the robust asymptotic stability of the given system and to express it in the form of linear matrix inequalities（LmIs）. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results are also compared with the existing results to show its conservativeness.

Robust h_∞ control of uncertain systems with two additive time-varying delays

This paper is concerned with the problem of delay-dependent robust h∞control for a class of uncertain systems with two additive time-varying delays. A new suitable Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional（LKF） with triple integral terms is constructed and a tighter upper bound of the derivative of the LKF is derived. By applying a convex optimization technique, new delay-dependent robust h∞stability criteria are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities（LmI）. Based on the stability criteria, a state feedback controller is designed such that the closed-loop system is asymptotically ***, numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Comparison results show that our results are less conservative than the existing methods.

Background:Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by the involvement of multiple organs and autoantibody *** study aimed to determine the association of human leukocyte antigen(hLA)-DQ and-DR alleles with SLE at a tertiary hospital in ***:This case-control study was conducted in the Department of Rheumatology,Bangabandhu Sheikh mujib medical University(BSmmU),Dhaka,*** patients who fulfilled the 1997 revised American College of Rheumatology classification criteria for SLE were considered cases(n=41).The controls(n=32)were selected from the hospital staff of BSmmU,including doctors and nurses who did not suffer from any known rheumatic diseases,and there was no such disease in their first-degree *** chain reaction using a sequence-specific primer(PCRSSP)in a low-resolution typing method was carried out on blood samples collected for hLA-DQ and-DR allele ***:The cases and controls had comparable mean ages(31 vs.32 years),and most cases were female(95.1%vs.34.4%).The most frequent clinical manifestations were mucocutaneous(85.4%),followed by musculoskeletal(70.7%)and constitutional symptoms(58.5%).The cases had a significantly higher frequency of hLA-DR2 allele compared with healthy controls(70.7%vs.43.8%;odds ratio:3.1;95%confidence interval:1.2-8.2).In addition,hLADQ6 allele was found to have a significant association with mucocutaneous manifestations of the cases(88.9%,P=0.03).Conclusions:Bangladeshi adults having hLA-DR2 may be more susceptible to ***-DQ6 allele might be associated with mucocutaneous manifestations of SLE.

Augmented Lyapunov approach to h_∞ state estimation of static neural networks with discrete and distributed time-varying delays

This paper deals with h∞ state estimation problem of neural networks with discrete and distributed time-varying delays. A novel delay-dependent concept of h∞ state estimation is proposed to estimate the h∞ performance and global asymptotic stability of the concerned neural networks. By constructing the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and using the linear matrix inequality technique, sufficient conditions for delay-dependent h∞ performances are obtained, which can be easily solved by some standard numerical algorithms. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed theoretical results.

Circular neighbor-balanced designs using cyclic shifts

In agriculture experiments, the response on a given plot may be affected by the treatments on neighboring plots as well as by the treatments applied to that plot. In this paper we consider such type of situations and construct circular neighbor-balanced designs (CNBDs) by the method of cyclic shifts or sets of shifts. An important feature of this method is that the properties of a design can be easily obtained from the sets of shifts instead of constructing the actual blocks of the design. That is, the off-diagonal elements of the concurrence matrix can be easily obtained from the sets of shifts. Since the suggested designs are circular, balanced and binary, so they are universally optimal.

Objectives:To determine the association of human leukocyte antigen B(hLA‑B)alleles with ankylosing spondylitis and the allelic association of hLAB27 with endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase 1(ERAP1)single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)rs30187 in patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS).methods:We studied 48 consecutively enrolled well-defined AS patients and 48 healthy controls recruited from the outpatient clinic of the rheumatology department of Bangabandhu Sheikh mujib medical University(BSmmU),Dhaka,*** genotype hLA-B alleles from peripheral blood DNA,we designed sequence-specific primers for polymerase chain ***'s sequencing method was used to detect the ERAP1 rs30187 *** hLA-B allele distributions were compared between cases and *** infer an allelic association between hLA-B27 and ERAP1,allele distributions from both loci were compared using ***-squared test or Fisher's exact test was used to quantify the association,and their strength of association was tested by odds ratio(OR)with 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:The frequency of hLA-B27 was found to be higher in AS patients(60.4%)than in healthy controls(8.3%).hLA-B27 allele had an OR of 16.8(95%CI=5.2–54.4)for the development of ***,4%of AS patients had both hLA-B27 and *** significant association was found between ERAP1 rs30187 SNP and hLA-B27 in patients with AS(OR=1.7,95%CI=0.5–5.6).Conclusions:hLA-B27 was significantly associated with AS in patients in ***,no association between ERAP1 rs30187 SNP and hLA-B27 was observed.

In this study,an alternative precursor for production of activated carbon was introduced using dragon fruit(hylocereus costaricensis)peel(DFP).moreover,KOh was used as a chemical activator in the thermal carbonization process to convert DFP into activated carbon(DFPAC).In order to accomplish this research,several approaches were employed to examine the elemental composition,surface properties,amorphous and crystalline nature,essential active group,and surface morphology of the *** BrunauerEmmettTeller test demonstrated a mesoporous structure of the DFPAC has a high surface area of 756.3 m2g *** cationic dye methylene Blue(mB)was used as a probe to assess the efficiency of DFPAC towards the removal of mB dye from aqueous *** effects of adsorption input factors(*** dose(A:0.040.12 g L 1),ph(B:310),and temperature(C:3050℃))were investigated and optimized using statistical analysis(*** design(BBD)).The adsorption kinetic model can be best categorized as the pseudofirst order(PFO).Whereas,the adsorption isotherm model can be best described by Langmuir model,with maximum adsorption capacity of DFPAC for mB dye was 195.2 mg g 1 at 50℃.The adsorption mechanism of mB by DFPAC surface was attributed to the electrostatic interaction,pp interaction,and ***,the results support the ability of DFP to be a promising precursor for production of highly porous activated carbon suitable for removal of cationic dyes(***).
