Web GIS-Based Temporal Analysis of Climatic Factors Impacting Heat Strok. in k.rachi

This study focuses on the impact of climate change, specifically the increasing threat of heatwaves, in Pak.stan, with a particular emphasis on the city of k.rachi. The Pak.stan Meteorological Department (PMD) analysed a century of climatic data to reveal warming trends, attributing them to human-induced factors. The vulnerability of Pak.stan to climate change is highlighted, given its warm climate and location in a region where temperature increases are expected to surpass global averages. The study examines the past three decades, noting a significant rise in the frequency of hot days, especially in k.rachi, where heatwaves have become more prevalent. The aims and objectives of the study involve identifying temporal changes in temperature, rainfall, humidity, and wind speed from 1984 to 2014 in k.rachi. The literature review emphasizes the health implications of heatwaves, citing increased mortality during such events globally. The study incorporates a comprehensive temporal analysis, addressing gaps in previous research by considering multiple climate indicators responsible for heatwaves. The methodology involves statistical analyses, including linear regression and Pearson correlation, applied to temperature data and urbanization parameters. Results indicate an increasing trend in heat index temperature, with heatwave vulnerability peak.ng in the last three decades. Heat Index Temperature Anomalies show a clear surge, emphasizing the need for new indices to control critical heat stress conditions. The study concludes that tropical climate variability, particularly heat index, is link.d to extreme hot days, urging measures to reduce population vulnerability. The findings underscore the importance of policy strategies, such as integrated coastal zone management, to mitigate the adverse health effects of heatwaves in k.rachi’s vulnerable population.

Hybrid IPOM: A Novel Technique for the Management of Incisional Hernia

Back.round and Aim: The incidence of incisional hernias has been reported to be around 15%. In the present scenario, a wide array of surgical procedures are available for their better management. In this study, we intend to share our experience with one novel technique, “Hybrid IPOM (Intraperitoneal onlay meshplasty)” as a management option for a selected cohort of patients. Methods: This prospective study was undertak.n during January 2019 to July 2023 at k.ng Abdullah medical city, Mak.ah. A total of 51 cases were selected for Hybrid IPOM repair as per inclusion criteria;medium sized (4 - 10 cm) hernia defects;uncomplicated hernias;age more than 18 years. The follow-up period of the patients varied from 6 months to 4 years. The operation commenced with open hernia dissection, mesh deployment into abdomen, defect closure and then conversion to laparoscopy for the posterior mesh placement. Results: A total of 51 cases were repaired successfully with this technique. 48 out of 51 cases were incisional hernias secondary to some primary procedure done either for hernias itself or some other intra-abdominal pathology. The three cases were primary hernias falling in medium to large category with unaesthetic overlying sk.n. The age range was 19 to 72 years. The mean (range) operative time was 135 (90 - 240) min, and the average blood loss was 70 ml. The mean (range) hospital stay was 3 (2 - 11) days. All patients returned to routine work.within 2 - 3 week. of surgery. The median follow-up was 15 (6 - 48) months. Of the 51 cases, 3 patients developed seroma (managed conservatively), 1 patient developed a large hematoma (needed evacuation), and 1 patient developed superficial wound infection (managed with antibiotics). Two patients had recurrences;one patient had previously failed multiple repairs, and the other developed a postoperative hematoma. None of our patients had an iatrogenic bowel injury. Effects of In-Situ Cadmium Exposure on Morphometric Indices of Anabas testudineus

Anthropogenic activities have greatly affected water resources on a global scale where the world is experiencing water quality and resources issues. Heavy metal is a crucial group of pollutants that is toxic to the environment even at low concentrations due to its bioaccumulation and biomagnification capabilities in living organisms. The detrimental effects of heavy metals on living organisms are due to their bioaccumulation in the aquatic ecosystem. Cadmium may result in adverse health effects due to its high toxicity. The study is conducted to determine the cadmium exposure effects on the morphometric indices of Anabas testudineus which are the Scaling Coefficient (SC) and Condition Factor (k. of such species. Anabas testudineus is exposed to four different cadmium treatment groups namely the control group, cadmium treatment group of 0.005 mg/L, 0.010 mg/L, and 0.015 mg/L for 16 week.. The findings of the study have reported inconsistent trends in the values of SC and a decrease in the value of k.with increasing cadmium concentration. The trend for the average SC has shown an overall decrease in value while the pattern of the k.value is inconsistent in each treatment group with exposure time. Collectively, no significant differences for SC and k.of A. testudineus in different treatment groups as well as comparison between treatment groups with time exposure.

可将热量转化为电能的柔性热电（thermoelectric,TE）材料已广泛应用于可穿戴电子设备和其他柔性设备中。该研究将无机TE柱与热塑性聚氨酯（thermoplastic polyurethane,TPU）结合,组装成柔性条状热电器（thermoelectric generator,TEG）,进一步用于热电织物（thermoelectric fabric,TEF）的织造。采用有限元分析（finite element analysis,FEA）优化柔性TE条的尺寸并评估其性能。FEA的结果显示,TE条的间距对温差、输出电压和内阻有显著影响。当TE条直径为3.5 mm、条间距为2 mm时,可获得最大功率密度,达到3.43μW·cm-2（在温差ΔT=10.5 k.条件下）。在实验条件下,热板接触以及铜线-TE条连接处存在倾斜度,导致所织造的三维TEF的功率密度只能达到模拟结果的29%。尽管如此,在经过450次弯曲测试后,TE条仍展现出优异的柔韧性和稳定的机械性能。这一研究不仅为今后开发更高效的TEF奠定了基础,还为可穿戴式能量采集应用提供了更加舒适、合身的选择方案。

Factors Promoting Retention of Nurses in Three Private Hospitals of Lahore: A Cross Sectional Descriptive Survey

Introduction: Pak.stan has a large number of professional nurses but a higher rate of turnover contributes towards the shortage of nurses which is intensified by nurses’ immigration, lack.of recruitment of new nurses and retirement of senior nurses. Aim: The study aimed at examining the factors that increase retention of nurses. Research Method: The study is descriptive cross sectional with a sample of 150 nurses including both the genders, from 3 private hospitals located in Pak.stan. A convenient sampling technique was used. The data collection was done through close ended questionnaires based on 20 questions. Data collection was done quantitatively and then data was entered in SPSS. Correlation and regression tests were performed. Findings: The analysis revealed that 91.3% nurses are loyal to their hospitals but, 8.7%nurses can switch the hospital for different reasons. It was also found that the idea of leaving the job based on the intention of moving to abroad and public sector was higher than the retirement and other causes. Resultantly, enhancements in nurses’ work.environments have the ability to decrease nurses’ job burnout and turnover and increase patients’ satisfaction. Recommendations: Hospital leaders should implement effective strategies to encourage nurses to continue their job by motivation, strengthening management sk.lls within the hospital and improving a positive work.environment by promoting teamwork. continuous learning, trust, respect and flexible arrangements which can lead towards achieving better ***, further studies quantitatively and qualitatively can explore more factors related to dissatisfaction of nurses. Health systems policy mak.rs should lead by developing related strategies for the retention of nurses.
