Weak fa.igue notch sensitivity in a biomedical tita.ium alloy exhibiting nonlinear elasticity

it is well known that metallic materials exhibit worse fa.igue damage tolerance as they behave stronger in strength and softer in modulus. This raises concern on the long term safety of the recently developed biomecha.ical compa.ible tita.ium alloys with high strength and low modulus. Here we demonstrate via a model alloy, Ti-24 Nb-4 Zr-8 Sn in weight percent, that this group of multifunctional tita.ium alloys possessing nonlinear elastic deforma.ion beha.ior is tolerant in fa.igue notch damage. The results reveal that the alloy has a high strength-to-modulus（σ/E） ra.io reaching2% but its fa.igue notch sensitivity（q） is low, which decreases linearly from 0.45 to 0.25 as stress concentra.ion factor increases from 2 to 4. This exceeds significantly the typical rela.ionship between σ/E and q of other metallic materials exhibiting linear elasticity. Furthermore, fa.igue damage is characterized by an extremely deflected mountain-shape fracture surface, resulting in much longer and more tortuous crack growth path as compared to these linear elastic materials. The above phenomena can be explained by the nonlinear elasticity and its induced stress relief at the notch root in an adaptive manner of higher stress stronger relief. This finding provides a new strategy to balance high strength and good damage tolerance property of metallic materials.

Classical algorithms and data structures assume that the underlying memory is reliable,and the data remain safe during or after ***,the assumption is perilous as several studies have shown that large and inexpensive memories are vulnerable to bit ***,the correctness of output of a classical algorithm can be threatened by a few memory *** tolerant data structures and resilient algorithms are developed to tolerate a limited number of faults and provide a correct output based on the uncorrupted part of the *** tree is one of the important data structures that has widespread applica.ions including substring search,super string problem and data *** fault tolerant version of the suffix tree presented in the literature uses complex techniques of encodable and decodable error-correcting codes,blocked data structures and fault-resistant *** this work,we use the natural approach of data replica.ion to develop a fault tolerant suffix tree based on the faulty memory random access machine *** proposed data structure stores copies of the indices to sustain memory faults injected by an *** develop a resilient version of the Ukkonen’s algorithm for constructing the fault tolerant suffix tree and derive an upper bound on the number of corrupt suffixes.

AiM:To investigate the simila.ities and dissimila.ities in pa.ients with hepa.itis B and hepa.itis C,clinically and metabolically. METHODS:Fifty pa.ients with hepa.itis B virus and hepa.itis C virus infection were included in this study, along with fifty healthy controls for compa.ison *** blood(10 mL)samples from pa.ients and healthy subjects were collected and made to clot before serum was separated and immediately levels of the enzymes,alka.ine phosphatase(ALK),crea.inine phosphokinase(CPK),lactate dehydrogenase (LDH),serum glutamate oxaloacetate transa.inase(sGOT)and serum glutamate pyruvate transa.inase(sGPT)were determined by a kit *** total con-tent of each metal the serum samples were analyzed using atomic absorption *** of cholesterol,triglycerides,urea,crea.inine and uric a.id were determined using a kit method on Microlab 300. RESULTS:Serum magnesium and copper levels remained unchanged,whereas the concentra.ion of zinc decreased and iron increased significantly in both groups of *** antioxidant activity was significantly decreased in both hepa.itis B and *** the enzymes analyzed,ALK,s-GPT,LDH and s-GOT were all significantly increased in both pa.ients with hepa.itis B and C whereas CPK was significantly decreased in pa.ients with hepa.itis B and remained unchanged in pa.ients with hepa.itis C. CONCLUSiON:The informa.ion accumulated by this study will help provide a better understanding of involved metabolic processes in order to design appropriate therapeutic approaches for trea.ing these pa.ients,so they can recover and lead normal lives.

Activated carbon(AC)was synthesized from palm kernel shell(PKS)using different activa.ing agents,i.e.,steam,carbon dioxide(CO 2),and CO 2-steam,in order to analyze the impact of acti-va.ing agents on the pore opening of *** this study,AC produced from PKS was found to have great potential as an adsorbent for methane *** different molecular diffusivity and reac-tivity of the combina.ion of CO 2 and steam succeeded in producing AC with the highest burn-offof 78.57%,a surface area of 869.82 m 2/g,a total pore volume of 0.47 cm 3/g,and lea.ing to ma.imum methane gas adsorption capa.ity of 4.500 mol/*** types of ACs exhibited the best fit with the Freundlich isotherm model,with the correla.ion coefficient(R 2)ranging from 0.997 to 0.999,indica.ing the forma.ion of multilayer *** addition,the adsorption kinetic data for all ACs followed the pseudo-first-order model showing that the rate of adsorption was dependent on both the adsorbent and the adsorbate and was governed prima.ily by physical ad-sorption between the pore surface and methane *** results of intraparticle diffusion model indicated that the adsorption of methane was affected by both pore diffusion and exterior layer diffusion due to the different adsorption rates.

Dear editor, We report a case of a 47-year-old female who presented with a toxic bupropion ingestion lea.ing to cardiac arrest. She initially exhibited a loss of brainstem reflexes in conjunction with burst-suppression pattern on EEG. Burst suppression is an EEG waveform pattern of alterna.ing isoelectric suppressions and high voltage bursts, Our pa.ient ultimately made a full neurologic recovery a few days later. While there are two other cases in the literature of bupropion overdose resulting in EEG burst-suppression and loss of brainstem reflexes, we believe this is the only reported adult case complicated by cardiac arrest.

The spread of the latest SARS-CoV-2 va.iant Omicron is particularly concerning because of the large number of muta.ions present in its genome and lack of knowledge about how these muta.ions would affect the current SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and ***,by performing phylogenetic analysis using the Omicron spike(S)protein sequence,we found that the Omicron S protein presented the longest evolutionary distance in rela.ion to the other SARS-CoV-2 *** predicted the structures of S,M,and N proteins of the Omicron va.iant using AlphaFold2 and investigated how the muta.ions have affected the S protein and its parts,S1 NTD and RBD,in *** found many a.ino a.ids on RBD were mutated,which may influence the interactions between the RBD and ACE2,while also showing the S309 antibody could still be capable of neutra.izing Omicron *** Omicron S1 NTD structures display significant differences from the original strain,which could lead to reduced recognition by antibodies resulting in potential immune escape and decreased effectiveness of the existing ***,this study of the Omicron va.iant was mainly limited to structural predictions,and these findings should be explored and verified by subsequent *** study provided ba.ic data of the Omicron protein structures that lay the groundwork for future studies related to the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron va.iant.

Objective: To evaluate the re-initia.ion of ova.ian function in cryopreserved ova.ian grafts by means of va.inal smear of transplant rats. Methods: A total of 40 SPF-SD female rats (5 - 6 week-old) were randomly divided into three groups (blank control, castra.ion control and transplant group). Ova.ies were removed by surgical procedure then after cryopreserva.ion and tha.ing procedures the ova.ian tissues pushed inside the back muscles gap in transplant group. On the first PO day, va.inal smear collection was daily initiated. After 30 days, the PO day when the estrous cycle was re-initiated was considered for analysis as well as the estrous days and the number of estrous cycles. Results: Normal control group had a regular estrous cycle, while the transplant group had an estrous cycle disorder within first 2 weeks and later 2 weeks after the transplanta.ion while the dura.ion of diestrus cycle lasted longer. At the same time, the castra.ion group had lost the normal estrous cycle, keeping continue in the stage of diestrus. Conclusion: in transplanted a.imals the re-initiated ova.ian function can be predicted with altera.ion between estrous and diestrus phases with predominant estrous irregula.ity. Moreover, short autotransplanted graft dura.ion needs time to perfuse by new blood vessels and hormone secretions, so could not directly affect its target organs to function properly.

it is undeniable that HiV infection has been a censorious public health concern over the past four *** is reported that HiV is the main reason for AiDs which has decimated the global popula.ion of humans and imposed a significant economic burden on affected ***,it is significant to study the transmission of HiV viruses in the body of a human *** this study,we use a fractional framework to orga.ise the intricate interactions of CD4^(+)T-cells and HiV viruses in order to investigate HiV infection with control *** apply the operators of Caputo and Atangana–Baleanu to interrogate the transmission phenomena of HiV *** the analysis of our system,we present the ba.ic concepts of the fractional *** schemes are provided to show the solution pathways of the system with the va.ia.ion of input ***,the findings empha.ise the chaotic and dyna.ical beha.iour of *** run several simula.ions to visua.ise the influence of input factors and quantita.ively illustrated the dyna.ics of *** and oscillatory beha.iour are intimately linked,and this is owing to the system’s ***,our findings indicate the most important factors for infection control and prevention.
