Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera and Odonata(Insecta)Diversity and Distribution at Bukit Merah Resevoir River Feeders

A study on the distribution of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera and Odonata in relation of environmental interruptions was done at three different rivers tributaries of Bukit Merah Reservoir, Perak namely Sungai Jelai, Sungai Ara, and Sungai Kurau from October 2013 to January 2014. A total of 1 942 individuals were collected during the 4month of the study. The number of Ephemeroptera was highest, which was found at Sungai Jelai and Sungai Kurau and dominated by Baetis from family Baetidae while at Sungai Kurau dominated by Trichoptera, Hydropsyche from family Hydropsychidae. Ecological and biological indices have been used to evaluate the diversity of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera and Odonata at each river. The highest Simpson's diversity index(D=0.893) and Pielou's evenness index(E=0.803) were recorded at Sungai Jelai while Sungai Ara had the highest value of Margalef's richness index(MgR I=5.698). The variance for the assemblages of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera and Odonata influenced by9 chemical and physical variables was really a satisfactory with total variance explained of 57.2%. The results of canonical correspondence analysis(CCA) model showed that two groups of insects taxa characterized by water *** first group from the CCA analysis clustered the Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera and Odonata genera showed that deterioration in dissolved oxygen concentration, pH and nitrate while the second group showed dependence on total dissolved solids(TDS), conductivity, total suspended solid(TSS) and velocity. The study showed that the distribution of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera and Odonata taxa was affected by the environmental interruptions such as human residential area, agricultural plantation and river embankment.

A significant increase in the number of coronavirus cases can easily be noticed in most of the countries around the *** of the consistent preventive initiatives being taken to contain the spread of this virus,the unabated increase in the cases is both alarming and *** role of mathematical models in predicting and estimating the spread of the virus,and identifying various preventive factors dependencies has been found important and effective in most of the previous pandemics like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome(SARS)*** this research work,authors have proposed the Susceptible-Infectected-Removed(SIR)model variation in order to forecast the pattern of coronavirus disease(COVID-19)spread for the upcoming eight weeks in perspective of Saudi *** study has been performed by using SIR model with a proposed simplification using average progression for further estimation ofβandγvalues for better curve fittings *** predictive results of this study clearly show that under the current public health interventions,there will be an increase in the COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia in the next four ***,a set of strong health primitives and precautionary measures are recommended in order to avoid and prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia.

Green Architecture for Dense Home Area Networks Based on Radio-over-Fiber with Data Aggregation Approach

The high-density population leads to crowded cities. The future city is envisaged to encompass a large-scale network with diverse applications and a massive number of interconnected heterogeneous wireless-enabled devices. Hence, green technology elements are crucial to design sustainable and future-proof network architectures. They are the solutions for spectrum scarcity, high latency, interference, energy efficiency, and scalability that occur in dense and heterogeneous wireless networks especially in the home area network （HAN）. Radio-over-fiber （ROF） is a technology candidate to provide a global view of HAN＇s activities that can be leveraged to allocate orthogonal channel communications for enabling wireless-enabled HAN devices transmission, with considering the clustered-frequency-reuse approach. Our proposed network architecture design is mainly focused on enhancing the network throughput and reducing the average network communications latency by proposing a data aggregation unit （DAU）. The performance shows that with the DAU, the average network communications latency reduces significantly while the network throughput is enhanced, compared with the existing ROF architecture without the DAU.

Prediction of performance and evaluation of flexible pavement rehabilitation strategies

Five test sections with different additives and strategies were established to rehabilitate a State-maintained highway more effectively in Rhode Island （RI）： control, calcium chloride, asphalt emulsion, Portland cement and geogrid. Resilient moduli of subgrade soils and subbase materials before and after full depth rehabilitation were employed as input pa- rameters to predict the performance of pavement structures using AASHTOWare Pave- ment ME Design （Pavement ME） software in terms of rutting, cracking and roughness. It was attempted to use Level i input （which includes traffic full spectrum data, climate data and structural layer properties） for Pavement ME. Traffic data was obtained from a Weigh- in-Motion （WIM} instrument and Providence station was used for collecting climatic data. Volumetric properties, dynamic modulus and creep compliance were used as input pa- rameters for 19 mm （0.75 in.} warm mix asphalt （WMA） base and 12.S mm （0.5 in.） WMA surface layer. The results indicated that all test sections observed AC top-down （longitu- dinal） cracking except Portland cement section which passed for all criteria. The order in terms of performance （best to worst） for all test sections by Pavement ME was Portland cement, calcium chloride, control, geogrid, and asphalt emulsion. It was also observed that all test sections passed for both bottom up and top down fatigue cracking by increasing thickness of either of the two top asphalt layers. Test sections with five different base/ subbase materials were evaluated in last two years through visual condition survey and measurements of deflection and roughness to confirm the prediction, but there was no serious distress and roughness. Thus these experiments allowed selecting the best reha- bilitation/reconstruction techniques for the particular and/or similar highway, and a framework was formulated to select an optimal technique and/or strategy for future rehabilitation/reconstruction projects. Increasing usage of foams in various industry sectors had causing serious disposal problems once it reaches the end of its ***,PVA-MFC foam was prepared by freeze-drying using polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)and microfibrillated cellulose(MFC)as a reinforced material from sugarcane bagasse(SCB).In this study,the PVA-MFC foam was chemically silylated with Y-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane(MPS)and tetraethoxysilane(TEOS).The wetting ability and mechanical strength of the silylated_(2,20)PVA-MFC foam was greatly enhanced compared with unmodified_(2,20)PVA-MFC *** silane chemicals(MPS and TEOS)had been confirmed grafted on_(2,20)PVA-MFC foam due to the presence of Si-C and Si-O-C stretching vibration as showed in Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR)spectra and cloud-like coating of porous pore was observed in scanning electron microscopy(SEM)*** silylated_(2,20)PVA-MFC foam(MPS and TEOS)exhibited a series of desirable properties such as lower swelling ratio and high absorption capacity of solvents and oils but had low thermal stability in thermogravimetric(TGA)*** characterization of_(2,20)PVA-MFC foam using TEOS was further investigated.A significant difference in morphology was clearly observed between the unmodified and silylated_(2,20)PVA-MFC-TEOS foam through field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM)*** X-ray photoelectron(XPS)analysis of silylated_(2,20)PVA-MFC-TEOS foam confirmed the presence of C,O and trace amount of Si *** synthesized_(2,20)PVA-MFC foam could be a promising material for broad range of polymer foam applications.
