A novel herbal combination ameliorates ovarian dysfunction and regulates altered biochemical parameters in rats with letrozole-induced polycystic ovary syndrome

Objective:To investigate the potential activity of novel herbal combination and novel herbal formulation(syrup)in female Sprague Dawley rats with letrozole-induced polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods:Forty-two rats were randomly divided into seven groups with six rats in each *** 1 received 0.5%carboxy methylcellulose orally for 37 days and served as the normal control *** 2 was orally administered with letrozole of 1 mg/kg for 21 days and served as the PCOS induction group without *** 3 to 7 were administered with letrozole of 1 mg/kg for 21 days orally to induce PCOS,and then respectively received clomiphene citrate at 1 mg/kg,100 and 200 mg/kg of novel herbal combination,200 mg/kg of novel herbal formulation(syrup),and 400 mg/kg of marketed formulation of Pushyanuga churna,once daily for 15 *** of the novel herbal combination and its syrup formulation were evaluated on the hormonal profile,the levels of antioxidants,the lipid profile and on the ovarian morphology,using letrozole-induced PCOS model in ***:Letrozole caused alterations in hormonal levels and lipid levels similar to PCOS and ovarian histology showed presence of ovarian cysts confirming the induction of PCOS in *** treatment with the novel herbal combination and its syrup formulation in PCOS-induced rats,the altered hormonal and lipid profiles showed significant recovery to normal *** histology confirmed the restoration of folliculogenesis in the PCOS-induced *** treatment with the syrup formulation of novel herbal combination was found to be more effective than novel herbal combination and showed better recovery in various parameters *** results of the study,however,suggested that treatment with novel herbal combination and its syrup formulation provided minimal protection against oxidative stress caused due to the induction of ***:The integrated approach for management of PCOS is to counterbalance the limita

Phytochemical profiling of Artocarpus lakoocha Roxb. leaf methanol extract and its antioxidant, antimicrobial and antioxidative activities

Objective:To explore the phytochemical profile of Artocarpus lakoocha *** both qualitatively and quantitatively,and validate its role as a potent antioxidant and antimicrobial ***:Extraction and isolation of different compounds were done from the leaves of Artocarpus lakoocha based on solvent fractionation ***,quantitative and qualitative phytochemical profiling along with antioxidant,antimicrobial and antioxidative activities were tested following standard ***:Among the five fractions,methanol fraction of Artocarpus lakoocha exhibited higher content of phytochemical compounds[phenols=(3175.21±290.43)mg GAE/g dry extract,flavonoids=(1173.15±47.52)mg QE/g dry extract and tannins=(923.53±95.21)mg TAE/g dry extract]as compared to other *** methanol fraction showed the highest antioxidant activity in DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging assays with IC50 of(111.98±34.20)μg/mL and(138.26±0.66)μg/mL,respectively,and the best reduction potential with a value of(316.81±2.96)mg QE/g dry extract in reducing power *** was significant correlation between the amount of phytochemicals and antioxidant ***,the extract successfully protected Lambda phage DNA from damage at 5 and 6 mg/mL concentration and exhibited substantial bactericidal as well as fungicidal *** GC-MS analysis of methanol fraction of Artocarpus lakoocha revealed diethyl phthalate as the main phytochemical compound,along with 3,4-dihydroxymandelic acid,9-octyl eicosane and 7,8-didehydro-3-methoxy-17-methyl-6-methylene ***:The methanol fraction of Artocarpus lakoocha could be used as a potent antioxidant and antimicrobial agent for sustainable agriculture and pharmaceutical purposes.

The empirical investigation that examines the dynamics including the interaction between consumption of energy and economic progress has long been ***,the interaction of these two in developing countries in general and Bangladesh,in particular,is a less explored ***,with this notion,this study examined the causal relationship among economic growth and energy consumption in *** this purpose,the study used energy consumption,gross domestic product(GDP),labor force,and capital data from 1981 to 2017 from different sources and data is analyzed by augmented Dickey-Fuller(ADF)unit root test,Johansen co-integration test and Granger test of *** determine that energy consumption and economic growth have long term bi-directional *** econometric model is estimated using generalized least squares(GLS)*** is concluded that,consumption of energy and economic growth positively correlated and economic development highly depend on energy consumption in Bangladesh.

In Agriculture Sciences, detection of diseases is one of the mostchallenging tasks. The mis-interpretations of plant diseases often lead towrong pesticide selection, resulting in damage of crops. Hence, the automaticrecognition of the diseases at earlier stages is important as well as economicalfor better quality and quantity of fruits. Computer aided detection (CAD)has proven as a supportive tool for disease detection and classification, thusallowing the identification of diseases and reducing the rate of degradationof fruit quality. In this research work, a model based on convolutional neuralnetwork with 19 convolutional layers has been proposed for effective andaccurate classification of Marsonina Coronaria and Apple Scab diseases fromapple leaves. For this, a database of 50,000 images has been acquired bycollecting images of leaves from apple farms of Himachal Pradesh (H.P)and Uttarakhand (India). An augmentation technique has been performedon the dataset to increase the number of images for increasing the *** performance analysis of the proposed model has been compared with thenew two Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models having 8 and 9 layersrespectively. The proposed model has also been compared with the standardmachine learning classifiers like support vector machine, k-Nearest Neighbour, Random Forest and Logistic Regression models. From experimentalresults, it has been observed that the proposed model has outperformed theother CNN based models and machine learning models with an accuracy of99.2%.

A multiwavelength view of the ISM in the merger remnant galaxy Fornax A

We present multi-wavelength imagery of the merger remnant galaxy NGC 1316 with an objective to study the dust content and its association with the other phases of the interstellar medium. Color-index maps as well as extinction maps derived for this galaxy reveal an intricate and complex dust morphology in NGC 1316, i.e. there is a prominent lane in the inner part, while at about 6-7 kpc it apparently takes the form of an arc-like pattern extending along the northeast direction. In addition to this, several other dust clumps and knots are also evident in this galaxy. The dust emission mapped using Spitzer data at 8 μm indicates even more complex morphological structures of the dust in NGC 1316. The extinction curve derived over the optical to near-IR bands closely follows the standard Galactic curve, suggesting similar properties of the dust grains. The dust content of NGC 1316, estimated from optical extinction, is ,- 2.13 × 10^5 M⊙. This is a lower limit compared to that estimated using the IRAS flux densities of ,-5.17× 10^6 M⊙ and the flux densities at 24, 70 and 160 p.m from MIPS ,-3.2× 10^7 M⊙. High resolution Chandra observations of this merger remnant system have provided an unprecedented view of the complex nature exhibited by the distribution of hot gas in NGC 1316, which closely matches the morphology of ionized gas and to some extent also the dust. X-ray color-color plots for the resolved sources within the optical D25 extent of NGC 1316 have enabled us to separate them into different classes.

Vaccinations in kidney transplant recipients: Clearing the muddy waters

Vaccine preventable diseases account for a significant proportion of morbidity and mortality in transplant recipients and cause adverse outcomes to the patient and allograft. Patients should be screened for vaccination history at the time of pre-transplant evaluation and vaccinated at least four weeks prior to transplantation. For non-immune patients, dead-vaccines can be administered starting at six months post-transplant. Live attenuated vaccines are contraindicated after transplant due to concern for infectious complications from the vaccine and every effort should be made to vaccinate prior to *** transplant recipients are on life-long immunosuppression, these patients may have lower rates of serological conversion, lower mean antibody titers and waning of protective immunity over shorter period as compared to general population. Recommendations regarding booster dose in kidney transplant recipients with sub-optimal serological response are lacking. Travel plans should be part of routine post-transplant assessment and pre-travel vaccines and counseling should be provided. More studies are needed on vaccination schedules, serological response, need for booster doses and safety of live attenuated vaccines in this special population.

Innovative use of intact seeds of Mucuna monosperma Wight for improved yield of L-DOPA

The drug L-DOPA has been widely used against Parkinson's disease and is extracted from *** to the increasing demand of this drug,new plant sources need to be discovered in addition to the existing *** paper embodies results on Mucuna monosperma,which can be a promising candidate for *** seed powder of this plant contains 5.48%of(dry weight)the drug and when the seeds were soaked in distilled water,content was increased to 6.58%.Different elicitors when added,enhanced the drug level in seed up to 11.8%.The possible rationale behind this increase was confirmed by increase in tyrosinase activity in the *** of L-DOPA was confirmed using various analytical techniques as HPLC,HPTLC and *** work demonstrates a potential candidate plant as a source for L-DOPA when a novel method was adopted as described here.

Simultaneous quantification of prodrug oseltamivir and its metabolite oseltamivir carboxylate in human plasma by LC-MS/MS to support a bioequivalence study

A simple, precise and rapid liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry （LC-MS/MS） method has been developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of oseltamivir and oseltamivir carboxylate, a neuraminidase inhibitor, using their deuterated analogs as internal standards （ISs）. The method involved solid phase extraction of the analytes and ISs from 200 μL human plasma with no reconstitution and drying steps. The chromatographic separation was achieved on a Symmetry C18 （100 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 μm） column using 10 mM ammonium formate and acetonitrile （30：70, v/v） as the mobile phase in a run time of 2.0 min. Quantitation of analytes and ISs were done by multiple reaction monitoring on a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer in the positive ionization mode. The linearity of the method was established in the concentration range of 0.5-200 ng/mL and 2.0-800 ng/mL for oseltamivir and oseltamivir carboxylate respectively. The mean extraction recovery for oseltamivir （94.4%） and oseltamivir carboxylate （92.7%） from spiked plasma samples was consistent and reproducible. The application of this method was demonstratedby a bioequivalence study in 42 healthy Indian subjects with 75 mg oseltamivir phosphate capsules. The assay reproducibility was established by reanalysis of 151 incurred subject samples.
