Feasibility and efficacy of delayed pharmacoinvasive therapy for STelevation myocardial infarction

A resonance-mode piezoelectric device for measurement of respiratory mechanics

This paper presents the design of a novel oscillometry device for the measurement of respiratory mechanics based on piezoelectric bimorph actuator technology. To predict performance for measurement of human respiratory mechanics, a dynamic model was developed based on a bimorph piezoelectric actuator driving a linear resistance mesh screen including subject’s respiratory impedance loads, and realistic breathing noise. Model performance was also validated in a prototype device. We found that while breathing noise substantially lowered SNR, the model could produce sufficient pressure and flow for acceptable SNRs exceeding 35 dB, and accuracies exceeding 99%. Satisfactory accuracy could be achieved with load impedance errors less than 3%. Maintaining the air-gap around the oscillating mesh with a resistance against the leak greater than 0.38 cmH2O/L/s maintained good performance, with an acceptable 4 dB decrease to SNR. Moreover, this work provides multiple solutions to host higher amounts of noise and nonlinearities. These results indicate that the development of an accurate lightweight portable single frequency FOT device is feasible.

Nepeta cataria L., commonly known as catmint or catnip, belongs to the family “Lamiaceae” and is indigenous to Europe and Asia. The essential oil of this species is known for the richness and diversity of nepetalactones (NPL) which are used as mosquito/insect repellents in perfumery and cosmetic industries. Reports on Indian catmint germplasm are very meager and warrants exploration of its commercial potential as a natural, non-toxic source of insect repellents. With this objective, commercial open-pollinated seeds of catmint collected from its native, temperate habitat in Himalayas were introduced in the tropical plains. Subsequent to adaptation to a new zone we were able to isolate nineteen individual plants based on plant growth. Hydrodistillation of the fresh herb yielded essential oil in the range of 0.01% to 0.2%. Gas Chromatography (GC) and GC-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analyses of the oil revealed the dominance of monoterpene hydrocarbon, namely, 4aα,7α,7aα NPL (1) isomer (84%). The other two isomers of nepetalactone, 4aα,7α,7aβ NPL (2) and 4aα,7β,7aα NPL (3) were also present, although in very less amounts (1.0% and 1.6%, respectively). Hardware implementation of adaptive filter for noise cancellation using TMS320C6713

Daily, we experience the effects of audio noise, which contaminates the original information bearing signal with noise from its surrounding environment. This paper focuses on real-time hardware implementation of multi-tap adaptive noise cancellation （ANC） system by using the least mean square （LMS） algorithm on TMS320C6713 to remove undesired noise from a received signal for various audio related applications. Three different experiments are carried out by considering different audio inputs to test the efficiency of the designed ANC system. The ＇C＇ code implementation of LMS algorithm is introduced and simulated in code composer studio （CCS）, then realized on the digital signal processor （DSP） C6713. The 300 Hz, 500 Hz, 800 Hz, 1 kHz and 3 kHz of tone signals and male speech signal are used as the reference inputs to trace the noise of signal until it is eliminated. The performance of ANC system is studied in terms of convergence speed, order of the filter and signal-to-noise ratio （SNR）. The experimentam results demonstrate that the designed system shows a consider- able improvement in SNR.

Primary Oropharyngeal Tuberculosis—A Differential Diagnosis to Malignancy

Tuberculosis is a communicable disease manifesting as pulmonary and extra pulmonary infection. Extra pulmonary tuberculosis involving pharynx is usually secondary to active pulmonary tuberculosis. Primary oropharyngeal tuberculosis is rare and has been reported in association with immunocompromised states like HIV-AIDS and chronic alcoholism. It has very unusual clinical presentation and sometimes mimics malignancy. We report herewith two cases of primary oropharyngeal tuberculosis, clinically mimicking a malignancy, in immunocompetent adult patients. A high index of suspicion is required to diagnose pharyngeal tuberculosis in patients presenting with ulceroproliferative mass in oropharynx. Histopathological findings of characteristic tuberculous granuloma are confirmatory. Anti-tuberculous therapy gives excellent results within two months of commencing the treatment.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc ion hybrid capacitors(ZIHCs),as an up-and-comer aqueous electrochemical energy storage system,endure in their infancy because of the substandard reversibility of Zn anodes,structural deterioration of cathode materials,and narrow electrochemical stability ***,a scalable approach is described that addresses Zn-anode/electrolyte interface and cathode materials associated deficiencies and boosts the electrochemical properties of *** Zn-anode/electrolyte interface is self-regulated by alteration of the traditional Zn2+electrolyte with Na-based supporting salt without surrendering the cost,safety,and green features of the Zn-based system which further validates the excellent reversibility over 1100 h with suppressed hydrogen *** deficits of cathode materials were overcome by using a high-mass loaded,oxygen-rich,3D,multiscaled graphene-like carbon(3D MGC)*** to the multiscaled texture,high electronic conductivity,and oxygen-rich functional groups of 3D MGC,reversible redox capacitance was obtained with a traditional adsorption/desorption *** ZIHCs containing the modified electrolyte and an oxygen-rich 3D MGC cathode resulted in battery-like specific energy(203 Wh kg1 at 1.6 A g^(-1))and supercapacitor-type power capability(4.9 kW kg1 at 8 A g^(-1))with outstanding cycling durability(96.75%retention over 30000 cycles at 10 A g^(-1)).These findings pave the way toward the utilization of highly efficient ZIHCs for practical applications.

Biochemical Composition and Disease Resistance in Newly Synthesized Amphidiploid and Autotetraploid Peanuts

Genetic diversity in peanut (Arachishypogaea L.) is narrow due to its evolution and domestication processes. Amphidiploids and autotetraploids (newly synthesized tetraploids) were created to broaden its genetic base. Molecular analysis has shown that the newly synthesized tetraploids had broader genetic base;and were genetically divergent when compared to cultivated peanut. Nutritional composition relative to oil, fatty acid composition, O/L ratio, protein, iodine value and presence of plant proteinase inhibitors such as trypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitors were studied in the synthesized tetraploids. Some of the newly synthesized tetraploids had higher amounts of proteinase inhibitors. Evaluation of newly synthesized tetraploids revealed several lines resistant to late leaf spot (LLS) and peanut bud necrosis disease (PBND).

Contaminated Effect of Geomagnetic Storms on Pre-Seismic Atmospheric and Ionospheric Anomalies during Imphal Earthquake

Study of seismo-ionospheric coupling mechanism demands the quiet geomagnetic condition to eliminate any kind of contamination in the lower atmospheric and ionospheric parameters. In this manuscript, we present the effect of back to back two geomagnetic storms before a strong earthquake happened in Imphal, India on January 4, 2016 (M = 6.7). We studied the lower ionospheric irregularities for the duration of 31 days by computing the nighttime fluctuations in Very Low Frequency (VLF) radio signal received transmitter JJI (22.2 kHz) in Japan at Ionospheric and Earthquake Research Centre & Optical Observatory (IERCOO), Sitapur, India. We also studied the presence of Atmospheric Gravity Wave (AGW) in nighttime VLF signal in lower ionospheric heights and the same computed that from SABER/TIMED satellite. Two geomagnetic storms occurred on December 21, and 31, 2015. By the conventional analysis, we found that there is a significant decrease in nighttime trend and an increase in nighttime fluctuations around 15 days before the earthquake and just on the first storm and thus the pre-seismic effects on VLF signal gets contaminated due to the presence of storms. The wave-like structure in VLF fluctuations shows significant increase in intensity by using Fourier and Wavelet analysis before the earthquake. By analysis of SABER data, we found significant enhancement in AGW around 10 days before the earthquake. As the wavelike structures are coming from neutral acoustics reasons from pressure or temperature variations, this paper exhibits a significant example of contamination in ionospheric parameters due to geomagnetic storm where the acoustics parameters remain un-contaminated.
