The purpose of this paper is to report a case of rare localised (limited to eyelid) malignant eyelid tumor in a 70 year old Indian male. Histopathology confirmed it to be a Merkel cell carcinoma. Surgical excision and eyelid reconstruction was done successfully. No local or systemic recurrence has been noted at a follow up of 2 years. The well defined nature of a highly malignant tumor, its localised presentation and management is being described in following report.

Identification, occurrence, and validation of DRE and ABRE Cis-regulatory motifs in the promoter regions of genes of Arabidopsis thaliana

Plants posses a complex co-regulatory network which helps them to elicit a response under diverse adverse conditions. We used an in silico approach to identify the genes with both DRE and ABRE motifs in their promoter regions in Arabidopsis thaliana. Our results showed that Arabidopsis contains a set of 2,052 genes with ABRE and DRE motifs in their promoter regions. Approximately 72~o or more of the total predicted 2,052 genes had a gap distance of less than 40o bp between DRE and ABRE motifs. For positional orientation of the DRE and ABRE motifs, we found that the DR form （one in direct and the other one in reverse orientation） was more prevalent than other forms. These predicted 2,o52 genes include 155 transcription factors. Using microarray data from The Arabidopsis Information Resource （TAIR） database, we present 44 transcription factors out of 155 which are upregulated by more than twofold in response to osmotic stress and ABA treatment. Fifty-one transcripts from the one predicted above were validated using semiquantitative expression analysis to support the microarray data in TAIR. Taken together, we report a set of genes containing both DRE and ABRE motifs in their promoter regions in A. thaliana, which can be useful to understand the role of ABA under osmotic stress condition.

Neurofibromas are relatively common lesions of the nervous system, but only a few cases involving the pinna have been reported. Isolated neurofibroma of pinna without neurofibromatosis has not been reported in the literature so far. Neurofibromas may develop anywhere in the body, including cranial and peripheral nerves. The type of impairment associated with neurofibromas depends largely on the site of the lesion. Cutaneous lesions, especially in the head and neck, generally cause deformity, whereas lesions that affect deeper systems (e.g., the auditory and ocular systems) are more likely to cause functional impairment. Objective: Our study objective was to compare the anteroposterior (AP) oropharyngeal airway diameter measured using static MRI images in children with and without developmental disabilities during sedation. Methods: We performed a secondary analysis on a prospective, observational age-matched, 1:2 case-control study of children aged 3 - 10 years who were sedated for brain MRI. AP airway diameters were determined at the level of soft palate (airway_SP) and tongue (airway_T) from midline sagittal images by a single blinded radiologist. Results: Airway diameter was evaluated in 134 controls (C) and 68 cases (D). There was no difference in the overall adverse events (D: 30% C: 32.9%;p = 0.7) as well as hypoxia (D: 10%;C: 9.3%, p = 0.9). There was no significant difference in mean airway_T (D: 10.62 ± 3.48 vs. C: 10.38 ± 3.47;p = 0.64) and airway_SP diameter (D: 4.59 ± 2.36 vs. C: 5.17 ± 3.9;p = 0.14) between the two groups. There was no significant difference in airway_T and airway_SP diameters amongst those who experienced and those who did not experience hypoxia in cases. Amongst controls however, the airway_SP was smaller in those who experienced hypoxia compared to those who did not experience hypoxia. Conclusions: There was no difference in the AP airway_T and airway_SP diameter during sedation using static MRI images in children with and without developmental disabilities. Changes in airway_SP was associated with hypoxia amongst controls in our study cohort.

An efficient and greener synthesis of a series of dihydropyrimidinone (DHPMs) derivatives were accomplished via three-component one-pot cyclocondensation between substituted aryl aldehydes, diketone/ke- toester and urea. Multifocal Chest Wall Hamartoma: A Rare Congenital Anomaly

Chest wall hamartoma is a very rare tumour with benign course and distinct clinical, radiological, and histopathological characteristics. The lesion develops during foetal life and is present at or shortly after birth. It should be kept in differential diagnosis of complex chest wall masses diagnosed during antenatal ultrasound. CT thorax is useful for appreciation of detailed anatomy, characterization of the congenital abnormality and for surgical planning. Histopathology is used for the confirmation. Accurate diagnosis of mesenchymal hamartoma is important since many chest wall masses in children are malignant. We report a rare case of multifocal chest wall hamartoma in an infant who presented with multiple bilateral complex chest wall masses in which characteristic radiological and histopathological features led to the diagnosis of hamartoma, which was successfully treated with surgery.

Geochemistry of the Neoproterozoic Volcanic Rocks of the Nakora Area of Malani Igneous Suite, Barmer District, Western Rajasthan, India

The Neoproterozoic rocks of the Nakora Ring Complex (NRC) consist of three phases (Extrusive, Intrusive and Dyke) that are based on the detailed geological mapping (contact relationship, mode of occurrence, position of xenolith, flows, dykes and veins) and their stratigraphic position. NRC consists mainly of acid volcanic rocks besides minor amount of basic rocks with intermediate calc-alkaline to tholeiitic affinities and occurs in the form of ring structures. The Nakora basaltic rocks show LREE enriched nature and they have consistent negative Nb, Ta, Sr and Zr anomalies. The HREE pattern is showing parallel arrangement with HREE pattern of other basic rocks. The Nakora acid volcanic rocks exhibit high LREE enrichment than the HREE with negative Ba, Sr, Eu and Ti anomalies in primitive mantle normalized multi-element diagrams. All the samples show negative Ba, Sr, Eu and Ti anomalies. The diminution in amounts of Sr and Eu is apparently related to the fractionation of feldspars or their retention in the refractory minerals resistant to melting in the lower crust. As compared to trachytes, the rhyolites show high SiO2, high Al2O3, low total alkalis, low total iron, low TiO2, high CaO and high MgO. The petro-mineralogical and geo-chemical data specifies that the NRC rocks are generated from a co-magmatic source through a co-genetic process in a rift tectonic context. Petrogenetic modeling indicates that both the basic rocks and acid volcanic rocks of Nakora may have been derived from rocks akin to Bhilwara mafic metavolcanic/mixed Nakora gabbros and Siwana rhyolite/banded gneiss from Kolar Schist Belt by different degrees of partial melting respectively.
