Toll like receptors are the primary component of innate immune response. The comparison of expression of innate immune genes TLR 1 - 10 was carried out by real time PCR by quantifying mRNA in bovine PBMCs. The bovine PBMCs in vitro stimulated with FMD infectious virus lead to up regulation of TLR 2, 3, 4 and down regulation of TLR 9. But stimulation with DNA vaccine carryingVP1 genes of FMDV leads to up regulation of TLR 2 only. Difference in the TLR gene expression by the virus and DNA vaccine, may be related to the outcome of the vaccine and carrier or persistent state of the animal which is seen in FMDV.

Background: Polymorphisms of TAP1 gene might be pertinent in development of cancer by altering the immune response. We studied the association of TAP1 gene polymorphism with HPV related oropharyngeal cancer. Methods: This prospective study consisted of 200 subjects divided into three groups;Group A—HPV positive oropharyngeal cancer (17/100), Group B—HPV negative oropharyngeal cancer (83/100) and Group C—Controls. TAP1ile333val polymorphism genotyping was performed by ARMS-PCR. Results: No significant difference was observed in the distribution of Val/Val genotype of Group A in comparison to Group C (OR = 0.663, 95% CI = 0.164 - 2.688, p = 0.742) and Group B (OR = 1.725, 95% CI = 0.388 - 7.675, p = 0.677) and thus was not associated with HPV associated cancer. But the frequency of Val/Val genotype was found to be significantly decreased in Group B as compared to controls and was linked with increased risk of oropharyngeal cancers (OR = 0.38, 95% CI = 0.15 - 0.97, p = 0.048). Conclusion: TAP1i333v gene polymorphism was not associated with HPV positive oropharyngeal cancer;however decreased frequency of Val/Val genotype raises the risk of oropharyngeal cancer.

Objective:To explore the relationship of the effect of antioxidant status of patients with malignant gliomas at the time of their admission to a tertiary care hospital and the clinical condition after a post operative follow up over a period of two ***: Several antioxidant enzymes like erythrocytic glutathione reductase,glutathione peroxidase,catalase,superoxide dismutase,plasma ceruloplasmin,antioxidant vitamins A,E and C and lipid peroxidation products like erythrocytic thiobarbituric acid reacting substances and plasma conjugated dienes were analyzed both in controls and glioma ***: It was observed that patients who exhibited an overall higher turnover of antioxidants presented with ***: Free radical toxicity may adversely affect the outcome of such cancer patients.

An epidemiological study on delay in treatment initiation of cancer patients

Early diagnosis and timely initiation of treatment of cancer patients may improve survival and quality of life. Various measures of delay can be made during diagnosis and treatment initiation. Most of the studies were based on single type of cancer with different definitions and measurements of delay in diagnosis and treatment. Thus, it has been difficult to synthesize results and generalize to other types of cancer. The study proposes to measure total duration between onsets of symptom to start of treatment into three components, namely primary, secondary and tertiary delays. Primary delay is defined as onset of symptoms to contacting the first medical person, secondary delay is from first medical contact to confirmed diagnosis, and tertiary delay is from confirmed diagnosis to treatment initiation. The aim of this study is to determine factors associated with primary, secondary and tertiary delays in cancer patients. This study was planned as a cross-sectional study. Data was collected from patients admitted to the surgical wards of Department of Surgical Oncology, Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital, New Delhi during 2006-2007. Gamma regression and quantile regressions at 25th, 50th and 75th percentile of each of the delays were used to determine related factors. A total of 403 patients were included in the analysis. The median tertiary delay was found almost two folds (59;Interquartile range: 26 - 101 days) than the primary and secondary delays. Extremity cancer patients had longest primary, secondary and tertiary delays. Shortest primary, secondary and tertiary delays were observed for gastrointestinal cancer, breast and genitourinary cancer respectively. There is an urgent need and scope to reduce delay at each level primary, secondary and tertiary delay. Intervention studies are needed through information, education and communication/screening programs to reduce the diagnostic and treatment delays in cancer patients.

The present paper reports Thermoluminescence (TL) Glow curve of Mn2+ doped CaAl2O4 phosphor with different UV exposure time. The Glow peak shows general order kinetics and evaluation of kinetic parameters was done by peak shape method. Calculations of Trap Depth were done with Chen’s different methods and order of kinetics, activation energy and frequency factor are calculated. The recorded glow curve shifts towards higher temperature with increasing intensity as a function of UV exposure time until 30 minutes where it is seen that the peak shifts towards low temperature side and intensity also decreases. The peaks were found at 345?C, 356.83?C, 358?C and 356.73?C respectively using the heating rate 6.7?C/s. The PL (photoluminescence) excitation spectra show peaks at 248 nm and 362 nm whereas emission spectra shows peaks between 364 nm and 551 nm. Sample was characterized by XRD technique.

BACKGROUND The respiratory infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has evolved into a multi-organ disorder,with longterm effects known as post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection or long coronavirus disease(COVID).AIM To examine the current knowledge and outcomes of long-term neurological and gastrointestinal(GI)symptoms in adult cohorts,including United States minority *** PubMed and Google Scholar were searched using relevant terms,and data from five studies were analyzed,comprising 27383 patients with persistent neurological and GI *** The main symptoms included anxiety,depression,dysphagia,headache,vomiting,nausea,gastroesophageal reflux,fatigue,and abdominal *** with comorbidities and metabolic syndromes were at higher risk for long *** most patients were European Americans,there was a need for further study on African *** The underlying causes of these symptoms remain unclear,warranting more investigation into the long-term impact of the SARS-CoV-2 on different populations.
