1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D_(3) prevents DNA damage and restores antioxidant enzymes in rat hepatocarcinogenesis induced by diethylnitrosamine and promoted by phenobarbital

AIM:To investigate the chemopreventive iffects of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 in diethylnitrosamine induced,phenobarbital promoted rat ***:The rats were randomly divided into 6 different groups(A-F).Group A,c and E rats received a single intraperitoneal (i.p) injection of diethylnitrosamine (DEN) at a dose of 200 mg/kg body mass in 9 g/L Nacl solution at 4 wk of age ,while group B served as normal vehicle control received normal saline *** a brief recovery of 2 WK, all the DEN treated rats were given phenobarbital (PB) at 0.5g/L daily in the basal diet till WK *** c was started 4 wk prior to DEN injection and continued thereafter till wk 20 at a dose (os) twice a *** E received the treatment of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 at the same dose mentioned as above for 15 *** rats in group D and F received 1α,25-(OH)2D3 alone as in group c without DEN ***:The comet assay showed statistically higher mean values for length to width ratios (L:W) of DNA mass and tailed cells (pctively) in DEN treated rats as compared to their normal *** supplementation of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitaminD3 showed a significant (pcrease in L:W ratio of DNA mass tailed ***,1α,25-(OH)2D3 supplementations elevated the super oxide dismutase (SOD) activety,hepatic malondialdehyde(MDA) levle,reduced glutathione (GSH) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activety (pctively).As an endpoint marker histological changes were observed to establish the chemopreventive effects of 1α,***:Supplementations of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 has a marked protection against hepatic nodelogenesis,antioxidant enzymes and DNA damages in DEN induced rat hepatocarcinogenesis promoted by phenobarbital.

Anti-hepatotoxic and antioxidant influence of Ipomoea carnea against anti-tubercular drugs induced acute hepatopathy in experimental rodents

Objective:To assess the hepatoprotective effct of Ipomoea carnea(***)extract against antitubercular drug-induced liver toxicity in experimental ***:*** extracts(125,250 and 500 mg/kg,*** weight)were administered daily for 35 d in experimental *** toxicity was induced by combination of three antitubercular drugs(isoniazid 7.5 mg/kg,rifampicin 10 mg/kg and pyrazinamide 35 mg/kg)given orally as suspension for 35 d in *** groups received *** extracts along with antitubercular *** hepatoprotective activity was assessed using various biochemical parameters like aspartate aminotransferase,alanine aminotransferase,alkaline phosphatise and total ***,in-vivo antioxidant activities as lipid peroxidation,reduced glutathione,superoxide dismutase and catalase were measured in rat liver homogenate along with ATPase and *** biochemical observations were supplemented by histopathological ***:Obtained results demonstrated that treatment with *** extracts significantly(Pced increase in serum levels of hepatic ***,*** extracts significantly(up to Pced the lipid peroxidation in the liver tissue and restored activities of defence antioxidant enzymes,reduced glutathione,superoxide dismutase and catalase towards normal *** of the liver tissue showed that *** extracts attenuated the hepatocellular necrosis,massive fatty changes and led to reduction in inflammatory cells ***:The results of this study strongly indicate the protective effect of *** extracts against liver injury,which may be attributed to its hepatoprotective activity,and there by scientifically support its traditional use.

In this paper,carbon-doped Zinc Oxide(c-ZnO)samples were prepared using the solid-state reaction *** influence of carbon-doping on the structural and dielectric properties of ZnO samples was *** shift in the highest peak position(101)in XRD patterns of carbon-doped samples was *** Raman peak at 581 cm^(-1) in undoped ZnO was shifted and broadened in carbon-doped ZnO *** ZnO samples doped with carbon show higher values of dielectric constant(~2400 at 1 kHz)compared to pure ZnO(~9 at 1 kHz)which was due to increase in native point defects in the *** ac conductivity(σ_(ac))value of the carbon-doped sample was enhanced by 103 times for((ZnO)_(0.9) c_(0.1))sample.

Saliva as a non-invasive diagnostic tool for inflammation and insulin-resistance

Saliva has been progressively studied as a non-invasive and relatively stress-free diagnostic alternative to blood. currently, saliva testing is used for clinical assessment of hormonal perturbations, detection of HIV antibodies, DNA analysis, alcohol screening, and drug testing. Recently, there has been increasing interest in evaluating the diagnostic potential of saliva in obesity, inflammation, and insulin-resistance. current literature has demonstrated elevated levels of inflammatory biomarkers including c-reactive protein, tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-6, and interferon-γ in saliva of obese/overweight children and adults. Salivary antioxidant status has also been studied as a measure of oxidative stress in individuals with type 2 diabetes. Further, several studies have demonstrated correlations of salivary markers of stress and insulin resistance including cortisol, insulin, adiponectin, and resistin with serum concentrations. These findings suggest the potential diagnostic value of saliva in health screening and risk stratification studies, particularly in the pediatric population, with implications for inflammatory, metabolic and cardiovascular conditions. However, additionalstudies are required to standardize saliva collection and storage procedures, validate analytical techniques for biomarker detection, and establish reference ranges for routine clinical use. The purpose of this review is to summarize and evaluate recent advancements in using saliva as a diagnostic tool for inflammation and insulinresistance.

Angiotensin Ⅱ stimulates expression of transcription factors c-Jun and c-Fos in cyclosporine induced human gingival fibroblasts

The present study demonstrates that the expression of c-Jun and c-Fos are elevated in gingival fibroblast cells treated with angiotensin Ⅱ and *** healthy human gingival tissues were collected and gingival fibroblasts were isolated and *** used RT-PcR and Western blot analysis to identify the expression of c-Jun and c-Fos in cyclosporine and angiotensin II treated human gingival fibroblast *** found that angiotensin Ⅱ in combination with cyclosporine induces c-Jun and c-Fos expressions significantly;however,the angiotensin Ⅱ antagonist losartan inhibits the expression of c-Jun and c-Fos(pcombination with cyclosporine modulates the expression of c-Jun and c-Fos in human gingival fibroblast cells.
