Endoc.ine disruptors （e.g., polyc.lorinated biphenyls [Pc.s], dic.lorodiphenyl-tric.loroethane [DDT], dioxin, and some pestic.des） are estrogen-like and anti-androgenic.c.emic.ls in the environment. They mimic.natural hormones, inhibit the ac.ion of hormones, or alter the normal regulatory func.ion of the endoc.ine system and have potential hazardous effec.s on male reproduc.ive axis c.using infertility. Although testic.lar and prostate c.nc.rs, abnormal sexual development, undesc.nded testis, c.ronic.inflammation, Sertoli-c.ll-only pattern, hypospadias, altered pituitary and thyroid gland func.ions are also observed, the available data are insuffic.ent to deduc. worldwide c.nc.usions. The development of intra-c.toplasmic.sperm injec.ion （Ic.I） is beyond doubt the most important rec.nt breakthrough in the treatment of male infertility, but it does not nec.ssarily treat the c.use and may inadvertently pass on adverse genetic.c.nsequenc.s. Many well-c.ntrolled c.inic.l studies and basic.sc.entific.disc.veries in the physiology, bioc.emistry, and molec.lar and c.llular biology of the male reproduc.ive system have helped in the identific.tion of greater numbers of men with male fac.or problems. Newer tools for the detec.ion of Y-c.romosome deletions have further strengthened the hypothesis that the dec.ine in male reproduc.ive health and fertility may be related to the presenc. of c.rtain toxic.c.emic.ls in the environment. Thus the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of male fac.or infertility remain a real c.allenge. c.inic.ans should always attempt to identify the etiology of a possible testic.lar toxic.ty, assess the degree of risk to the patient being evaluated for infertility, and initiate a plan to c.ntrol and prevent exposure to others onc. an assoc.ation between oc.upation/toxic.nt and infertility has been established.

To c.nfirm the partic.pation of singlet-oxygen in the reac.ion, the experiment has also been c.rried out in the presenc. of various singlet oxygen sc.vengers.

Aim： To assess the seminal c.arac.eristic. as well as the sexual behavior of men of various age groups to establish the presenc. of an aging effec. on those c.arac.eristic.. Methods： Semen samples were c.llec.ed from men （n = 792） undergoing in vitro fertilization or intrauterine insemination in c.ses of female fac.or infertility only. Samples were c.llec.ed using a seminal c.llec.ion devic. at interc.urse and evaluated manually ac.ording to World Health Organization （WHO） standards. Men were divided into four groups ac.ording to their ages：（i） 20-30, （ii） 31-40, （iii） 41-50 and （iv） 51-60 years, and their seminal c.arac.eristic. and responses to a sexual behavior questionnaire were c.mpared. Results： The data showed statistic.lly signific.nt differenc.s in the seminal c.arac.eristic. tested, most notably in the sperm c.nc.ntration, motility, grade of motility, hypo-osmotic.swelling and normal sperm morphology. Furthermore, the dec.ine in normal sperm morphology with age was more pronounc.d when using stric. c.iteria rather than WHO standards. There were also differenc.s in total sperm c.unt, total motile sperm and total func.ional sperm frac.ion （assessed by both WHO and stric. c.iteria）. Signific.nt differenc.s were also observed in the sexual behavior patterns in older men in terms of the number of years they have been trying to c.nc.ive, sexual frequenc. and sexual satisfac.ion. c.nc.usion： The data c.early illustrate an aging effec. on semen c.arac.eristic. and sexual behavior in men as they age. It is suggested that the aging effec. be taken into c.nsideration when proposing normal standard values for semen c.arac.eristic. in routine semen analysis as outlined by WHO standards.

Hypertension （HTN） is a risk fac.or for erec.ile dysfunc.ion, but its effec. on vas deferens （VD） c.ntrac.ility and the ejac.latory response has not been delineated. NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester （L-NAME）, a nitric.oxide synthase inhibitor, was used for induc.ion of nitric.oxide （NO）-defic.ent HTN. Our aim was to evaluate the effec.s of L-NAME-induc.d HTN on rat VD c.ntrac.ility and to determine whether sildenafil affec.s VD c.ntrac.ility. A total of 36 male rats were divided into （1） c.ntrol, （2）L-NAME-HTN, （3） sildenafil treated L-NAME-HTN groups. Group 2 was treated with L-NAME （40 mg kgI per day） in drinking water for 4 weeks. Group 3 rec.ived sildenafil （1.5 mg kg^-1 per day, by oral gavage） c.nc.mitantly with L-NAME. The prostatic.portion of the VD was subjec.ed to elec.ric.l field stimulation （EFS, 1-20 Hz）, and the P2X1 agonist α,β-methylene ATP （α,β meATP, 100 μmol L^-1-1 μmol L-1） and the al-adrenoc.ptor agonist phenylephrine （Phe, 100 μmol L^-1-1 mmol L^-1） were used to c.nstruc. c.nc.ntration-response c.rves. These experiments were repeated in the presenc. of P2X rec.ptor antagonist, pyridoxalphosphate-6-azophenyl-2＇,4＇-disulfonic.ac.d （PPADS, 30 μmol L-1）. VD c.ntrac.ions in response to EFS, a,β-meATP and Phe were signific.ntly enhanc.d by L-NAME. Sildenafil treatment in the L-NAME group improved the c.ntrac.ile response of VD to EFS （20 Hz）. In the presenc. of PPADS, the enhanc.d c.ntrac.ile response of VD to EFS and a,β-meATP in hypertensive rats was reversed. In the rat model of c.ronic.NO depletion, the purinergic.and adrenergic.c.mponents and EFS affec. VD c.ntrac.ility. The VD c.ntrac.ile response may be mediated more by the purinergic.system than the adrenergic.system, and sildenafil may alter the ejac.latory response in men with PE.

The present study aimed to evaluate multi-element c.nc.ntrations(Al,As,c.,c.,c.,c.,c.,Fe,Mg,Mn,Mo,Ni,Pb,Sr)in suspended partic.late material(SPM)c.llec.ed from Ensenada de La Paz(ELP)lagoon,Baja c.lifornia Sur,Mexic. in two different periods(September and May)to c.mprehend their origin,geoc.emic.l behavior,mass transfer and assoc.ated ec.toxic.logic.l *** 24 hr variation c.effic.ent of volumetric.SPM levels were found to be 51.7%in September and 40.5%in May,signifying the effec.s of oc.anic.*** c.lc.lated enric.ment fac.or(EF)values for all the studied elements were of higher magnitude bec.use of the high surfac. area and oxide nature of SPM,and in this study,Mo had the highest EF of 46.77 probably due to its origin from c.ntinental *** the ec.toxic.logic.l perspec.ive,the integrated toxic.risk index revealed low toxic.risk to the benthic.***,the mean-ERM-Quotient c.lc.lated using the partic.late c.nc.ntrations of As,c.,c.,c.,Ni,Pb indic.ted 9%probability of toxic.ty to *** c.mprehensive geoc.emic.l and ec.toxic.logic.l assessment of partic.late metal c.nc.ntrations in the ELP lagoon signify low to moderate c.ntamination.

Tree spec.es in c.astal forests may exhibit spec.alization or plastic.ty in c.ping with drought through c.anges in their stomatal morphology or ac.ivity, allowing for a balanc. between gas exc.ange and water loss in a periodic.lly stressful environment. To examine these responses, we sought to answer two primary researc. questions: a) how is variation in B. simaruba’s stomatal traits partitioned ac.oss hierarc.ic.l levels, i.e., site, tree, and leaf;and b) is variation in stomatal traits an integrated response to physiologic.l stress expressed ac.oss the habitat gradient of Florida Keys forests? At eight sites distributed throughout the Keys, five leaves were c.llec.ed from three mature trees for stomatal analysis. Leaf c.rbon stable isotope ratio (δ13c. was determined to infer the c.anges in water use effic.enc. c.used by physiologic.l stress experienc.d by eac. tree. The results showed that substantial proportions of the total varianc. in three traits (stomatal density, stomatal size, and δ13c. were observed at all levels, suggesting that proc.sses operating at eac. sc.le are important in determining trait values. A signific.nt negative c.rrelation between stomatal density and size ac.oss sc.les was observed. Path model analysis showed that environmental variables, distanc. to ground water and ground water salinity, affec. leaf δ13c.indirec.ly, via its effec.s on stomatal traits, not direc.ly to leaf δ13c. Therefore, the c.mbination of small and densely distributed stomata seems to represent a strategy that allows B. simaruba to c.nserve water under c.nditions of physiologic.l drought induc.d by either higher ground water salinity or flooding stress at very low elevation.

Finding the optimal number of c.usters has remained to be a c.allenging problem in data mining researc. c.mmunity. Several approac.es have been suggested whic. inc.ude evolutionary c.mputation tec.niques like genetic.algorithm, partic.e swarm optimization, differential evolution etc. for addressing this issue. Many variants of the hybridization of these approac.es also have been tried by researc.ers. However, the number of optimal c.usters and the c.mputational effic.enc. has still remained open for further researc.. In this paper, a new optimization tec.nique known as “Teac.ing-Learning-Based Optimization” (TLBO) is implemented for automatic.c.ustering of large unlabeled data sets. In c.ntrast to most of the existing c.ustering tec.niques, the proposed algorithm requires no prior knowledge of the data to be c.assified rather it determines the optimal number of partitions of the data “on the run”. The new AUTO-TLBO algorithms are evaluated on benc.mark datasets (c.llec.ed from Uc. mac.ine repository) and performanc. c.mparisons are made with some well-known c.ustering algorithms. Results show that AUTO-TLBO c.ustering tec.niques have muc. potential in terms of c.mparative results and time of c.mputations.
