Pathological abnormalities in splenic vasculature in non-cirrhotic portal hypertension:Its relevance in the management of portal hypertension

BACKGROUND Portal hypertension(PH)is associated with changes in vascular structure and function of the portosplenomesenteric system(PSMS).This is referred to as portal hypertensive *** abnormalities of PSMS has been described in the literature for cirrhotic *** portal pressure and hyperdynamic circulation are thought to be the underlying cause of this *** view of this,it is expected that pathological changes in splenic and portal vein similar to those reported in cirrhotic patients with PH may also be present in patients with non-cirrhotic PH(NCPH).AIM To investigate pathological abnormalities of splenic vein in patients with NCPH,and suggest its possible implications in the management of *** A prospective observational study was performed on 116 patients with NCPH[Extrahepatic portal vein obstruction(EHPVO):53 and non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis(NCPF):63]who underwent proximal splenorenal shunt(PSRS),interposition shunt or splenectomy with devascularization in JIPMER,Pondicherry,India,a tertiary level referral center,between *** patients were evaluated by Doppler study of PSMS,computed tomography portovenogram and upper gastrointestinal *** acoustic resonance forced impulse(ARFI)scan and abdomen ultrasound were done for all cases to exclude *** and histopathological assessment of the harvested splenic vein was performed in *** study group was divided into delayed and early presentation based on the median duration of symptoms(i.e.108 mo).RESULTS The study group comprising of 116 patients[77(66%)females and 39(34%)males]with NCPH had a median age of 22 *** duration of symptoms was 108 *** most common presentation in both EHPVO and NCPF patients was upper gastrointestinal bleeding(hematemesis and melena).The ARFI scan revealed a median score of 1.2(1.0-1.8)m/s for EHPVO and 1.5(0.9-2.8)m/s for *** was performed in 84 patients(two of whom underwent interpos

Surface Modification Aspects for Improving Biomedical Properties in Implants:A Review

The primary focus during surgery is to ensure successful implantation by achieving long-term and stable fixation of *** surgery is now more focused on the development of novel biomaterials intended to improve implant *** obtain a better understanding of metal implants,this article investigated the causes of material failures in certain cases and analysed a few case *** interaction between the implant and bone tissue was a crucial aspect of successful implantation,and this study explored the factors influencing this interaction as well as ways to improve *** modern approaches used for modifying implant surfaces were systematically illustrated and briefly *** spray coatings were often favoured because of their wide range of coating materials,but other substantial surface modifications(such as friction stir processing and laser surface texturing)were also used for a selection of ***,implant surfaces with desirable features,such as biocompatibility,antibacterial properties,corrosion resistance,and wear resistance,were essential for optimising implant *** systematic review's main aim is to provide exhaustive reference information and a broad overview to advance the production and design of orthopaedic implants.

Balanites aegyptiaca Delile(BA)is an enduring xerophytic woody and spinous flowering tree and is commonly known as desert date or Ingudi(Hingot).It belongs to the family Zygophyllaceae,which is specific to be drought areas of Nigeria,Africa,South Asia and India(Rajasthan).In Ayurveda,this traditional medicinal plant is reported for the management of jaundice,syphilis,yellow fever,metabolic disorders,liver,and spleen *** main aim of the review is to compile its medicinal uses and further advancements to showcase the promises inherited in various parts of the plant for the benefit of *** per the literature survey,various researchers have focused on the detailed investigation of BA including the phytopharmacological evidence,chemical constituents,nano-formulations,commercialized products,and clinical *** remarkable scaffolds and isolated compounds like diosgenin,yamogenin,balanitin1/2,balanitin 3,bal4/5,bal6/7,rutin-3-glycosides,3,7-diglycosides,(3,12,14,16)–(12-hydroxycholest-5-ene-3,16-diyl-bis)-D-glucopyranoside and balanitoside have been ***,this traditional plant has been scientifically proven by in vitro and in *** on the complete review of this plant,most of the compounds have been isolated from the fruit and kernel ***,based on the literature,a histogram was developed for pharmacological activity in which antidiabetic study was found to be more compared to other pharmacological *** a spinous desert dates,this plant needs to be explored more to bring out newer phytochemicals in the management of various diseases.

This article analyzes the transmission line characteristics of plasmonic hybrid metal insulator metal(HMIM) wave-guide, circular ring resonator(CRR) based dual-band band-pass filters with two transmission poles in both pass-bands in the optical regime using coupled line feed. The transmission line characteristics of an HMIM waveguide, such as characteristic impedance(Z_(PV)), effective refractive index(n_(eff)) and propagation length(L_(spp)), have been obtained by using full wave simulation.

A novel double side friction stir Z shape lap-butt welding(DS-FSZW)process was proposed to achieve excellent mechanical properties of Al/Cu medium-thick dissimilar *** influence of welding parameters on weld microstructure and properties of DS-FSZW joint were systematically *** indicated that defect-free medium-thick Al/Cu DS-FSZW joint could be achieved under an optimal welding ***-FSZW joint was prone to form void defects in the bottom of the second-pass *** recrystallization mechanisms at the top and middle of the weld nugget zone(WNZ)were continuous dynamic recrystallization(CDRX)and geometric dynamic recrystallization(GDRX).While the major recrystallization mechanism at the bottom of the WNZ was ***-FSZW joint of the optimal welding condition with 850 r/min-400 mm/min was produced with a continuous thin and crack-free IMCs layer at the Al/Cu interface,and the maximum tensile strength of this joint is 160.57 MPa,which is equivalent to 65.54%of pure Cu base ***,the corrosion resistance of Al/Cu DS-FSZW joints also achieved its maximum value at the optimal welding parameter of 850 r/min-400 mm/*** demonstrates that the DS-FSZW process can simultaneously produce medium-thick Al/Cu joints with excellent mechanical performance and corrosion resistance.

Optics-based metaheuristic approach to assess critical failure surfaces in both circular and non-circular failure modes for slope stability analysis

In many construction projects,a proactive slope stability evaluation is a *** many deterministic or non-deterministic approaches have been commonly used,metaheuristic approaches have resulted in high precision and significant outcomes for slope stability analysis *** current work focuses on the reliable assessment of critical failure surfaces associated with the least factor of safety value in both homogeneous and non-homogeneous slopes using a new simplified meta-heuristic approach called optics-inspired optimization(OIO).The algorithm utilizes six different LEM methods as a fitness function for deriving the factor of *** analysis over three benchmark studies has been performed to demonstrate the algorithm's robustness and *** implementation found more robust results as compared to previous ***,the algorithm's statistical implication is conducted using the ANOVA test,which inferred better *** this interpretation,the approach claims to be suitable and efficient for slope stability analysis.
