Evaluating the Efficiency of Cadmium Removal by Alginate Hydrogels from Water Using 5,7-dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline as a Complexing Reagent

Cadmium toxicity in wastewater is a rising concern due to industries like batteries,metallurgy,electroplating,plastic stabilizers,and *** quantitative detection of Cd^(2+)and its remediation from wastewater samples are of major concern from an environmental point of *** the present work,an effective spectrophotometric method has been reported using 5,7-dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline(dBHQ)as a complexing agent for Cd^(2+).This method has advantages like using recyclable,less toxic solvents and easy sample *** limit of detection,limit of quantification,and sensitivity of the proposed method were found to be 33.30,36.70 mg L^(−1),and 2×10^(−3),*** dBHQ method was validated using atomic absorption spectroscopy,and the recovery percentage was more than 98%.These results indicate that dBHQ can be effectively used for monitoring Cd^(2+)in aqueous *** method developed was further employed for monitoring Cd^(2+)adsorption on calcium alginate(AL)*** adsorption studies were done to optimize parameters of Cd^(2+)removal using AL hydrogels,and the data obtained were used for kinetic and thermodynamic *** studies indicated that the pseudo-first-order model showed better fitting,and thermodynamic studies showed Freundlich-like *** maximum adsorption capacity of Cd^(2+)on AL hydrogels was found to be 56.45 mg g^(−1).The validation studies of dBHQ were performed using statistical analysis methods like t-tests and one-way variance.

The present study is a systematic effort to investigate the structure-sensitive magnetic parameters of Ce^(3+) substituted Ba-Sr hexaferrite nanocrystals chemically formulated as Ba_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Ce_(x)Fe_(12-x)O_(19) where x=0.0-0.2 with Δx=*** hexaferrite powders were prepared using the sol-gel self-ignition route and structurally characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared *** creation of the M-type hexaferrite phase within the synthesized samples was revealed from the Rietveld refinement of the X-ray *** occurrence of a secondary phase of CeO_(2) was revealed within the hexaferrites for the substitution,x> *** refined X-ray diffraction data were utilized to compute the lattice parameters,X-ray density,and lattice parameter *** crystal structure plotted from the refined XRd data reveals the occupancy of the ions at different lattice *** XPS data of the hexaferrite were analyzed to confirm the oxidation states of the constituent *** nanocrystalline nature of the hexaferrites was revealed from the crystallite sizes calculated using Scherer's *** analysis of FTIR spectra confirms that only a fraction of Ce^(3+)accommodated in the lattice and the remaining Ce content reside in the form of the CeO_(2) *** morphology of the hexaferrites was analyzed from the FESEM profiles of the ferrite *** magnetic behavior study was performed by analyzing the Curie temperature,hysteresis loops,and hyperfine interactions by means of susceptibility,V.S.M,and Mossbauer spectroscopy,*** hexaferrites with increasing coercivity,decreasing saturation magnetization,and decreasing Curie temperature are reported in the *** substituted Ce^(3+)ions inhibit the grain growth and create lattice imperfections giving rise to hexaferrites with tuned magnetic parameters suitable for different applications.

First Born double differential Cross-Section for Ionization of H (3d) by Incident Electron Impact

double differential cross section (ddCS) of First-Born approximation is calcu-lated for the ionization of metastable 3d-state hydrogen atoms by electron impact energy at 150 eV and 250 eV. A multiple scattering theory is applied in the present study. The present results are compared with the other related the-oretical results for the ionization of hydrogen atoms from different metastable states and ground-state experimental results. The findings demonstrate a strong qualitative agreement with the existing results. The obtained results have an extensive scope for further study of such an ionization process.

Machine vision for drill string slip status detection

Slip status of drill string is system generated binary value computed by comparison of sensor generated real time hook load value with a minimum threshold value of hook load stored in measurement *** research article describes a novel method of slip status detection by machine vision technology which helps overcome the constraints of slip status detection with legacy measurement *** also helps improve the real time drilling data quality and optimize and automate drilling operations.A method to detect drill string slip status with high-resolution digital camera installed on mast near rig floor is described along with backend vision processing and communication modules,which generate binary values of slip *** binary values are transferred in real time to drilling measurement system of rig to compute other drilling parameters like bit depth,hole depth and stand *** method includes deploying active optical sensors at the rig floor,obtaining 1-d,2-d,or 3d image data,and processing it to obtain the status of drill *** measurement of slip status by machine vision helps reduce non-productive time(NPT)by reliable real time surveillance of drilling operations.

CFd analysis for mixing performance of different types of household biodigesters

Household biodigesters are self-mixing anaerobic digesters used mostly in rural areas of developing countries as a reliable source of clean cooking *** an efficient anaerobic digestion process,the mixing of slurry inside the digester is regarded as one of the most important *** this study,the mixing of slurry in three different designs of household digesters,namely the fixed-dome digester(GGC 2047 model),plug-flow digester and prefabricated plastic digester,are investigated and compared using compu-tational fluid dynamics.A 3d transient simulation is performed using a multiphase volume of fluid(VOF)model in Ansys^(■)Fluent release *** rheological properties of the feedstock are considered identical for all three *** volume of the plug-flow and prefabricated plastic digesters is designed to be 1 m^(3) while the volume of the GGC 2047 digester was 6 m^(3) as the standard size of the household *** regions inside the digester where the velocity of slurry isded as dead zones and the obtained results were analysed and compared using velocity patterns and dead-zone *** is found that the prefabricated plastic digester model has a relatively higher percentage of dead volume(74.6%)and the plug-flow digester has the lowest per-centage(54%)of dead volume among digesters that were compared in this *** study will serve as the basis for designers and researchers to improve the design of household digesters for better mixing performances.

Background:Chronic pancreatitis(CP)is characterized by chronic abdominal pain and functional ***,a small subset of patients with prior acute pancreatitis(AP)and/or underlying risk factors for developing CP may be pain-free at diagnosis and may have a different clinical *** aimed to compare the clinical characteristics,outcomes,and healthcare utilization between CP patients with and without ***:Reviewed patients with established CP were followed in our Pancreas Center between January 2016 and April *** without risk factors for developing CP and/or without AP prior to their diagnosis and only with incidental radiologic features of CP were excluded,so as tominimize confounding factors of pancreatopathy unrelated to *** were divided into painful and pain-free groups to analyze differences in demographics,outcomes,and healthcare ***:Of 368 CP patients,49(13.3%)were pain-free at diagnosis and had remained so for>9 *** were no significant differences in body mass index,race,sex,or co-morbidities between the two ***-free patients were older at diagnosis(53.9 vs 45.7,P=0.004)and had less recurrent AP(RAP)(43.8%vs 72.5%,Pd less exocrine pancreatic insufficiency(EPI)(34.7%vs 65.7%,Pd less disability(2.2%vs 22.0%,P=0.003),mental illness(20.4%vs 61.0%,Pd therapeutic interventions(0.0%vs 16.4%,P=0.005)for ***:We described a unique subset of patients with underlying risk factors for CP and/or prior AP who were painfree at *** were older at diagnosis,had less EPI and RAP,and overall favorable outcomes with minimal resource utilization.
