Polyalkenoate cement(PAC)is a promising material for regenerative hard tissue *** ionically rich glass component of PAC encourages bioactive interaction *** release of essential ***,PAC bioactivity is restricted owing to(i)structurally inherent cationic network formers and(ii)surface bacterial biofilm *** two factors cause a deficiency in ion release,further complicated by secondary infections and premature therapeutic ***,a multivalent zwitterionic network modifier(mZM)is presented for upregulation of ionic exchange and bioactivity *** introducing a non-zero charged mZM into PACs,an increase in the proportion of non-bridging oxygen *** network modification promotes ion channel formation,causing a multiple-fold increase in ion release and surface deposition of hydroxy-carbonate apatite(ca.74%).Experiments ex vivo and animal models also demonstrate the efficient remineralization ability of the ***,divalent cationic interaction results in bacterial biofilm reduction(ca.68%)while also influencing a shift in the biofilm species composition,which favors commensal ***,PAC modification with mZM offers a promising solution for upregulation of bioactivity,even aiding in customization by targeting site-specific regenerative therapy in future applications.

A field-effect transistor （FET） with two-dimensional （2D） few-layer MoS2 as a sensing-channel material was investigated for label-free electrical detection of the hybridization of deoxyribonucleic acid （DNA） molecules. The high-quality MoS2-channel pattern was selectively formedthrough the chemical reaction of the Mo layer with H2S gas. The MoS2 FET was very stable in an electrolyte and inert to pH changes due to the lack of oxygen-containing functionalities on the MoS2 surface. Hybridization of single-stranded target DNA molecules with single-stranded probe DNA molecules physically adsorbed on the MoS2 channel resulted in a shift of the threshold voltage （Vt,） in the negative direction and an increase in the drain current. The negative shift in Vth is attributed to electrostatic gating effects induced by the detachment of negatively charged probe DNA molecules from the channel surface after hybridization. A detection limit of 10 fM, high sensitivity of 17 mWdec, and high dynamic range of 106 were achieved. The results showed that a bio-FET with an ultrathin 2D MoS2 channel can be used to detect very small concentrations of target DNA molecules specifically hybridized with the probe DNA molecules.

Prostate calculi in cancer and BPH in a cohort of Korean men：presence of calculi did not correlate with cancer risk

Prostatic calculi are common and are associated with inflammation of the prostate. Recently,it has been suggested that this inflammation may be associated with prostate carcinogenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between prostatic calculi and prostate cancer （PCa） in prostate biopsy specimens. We retrospectively analyzed 417 consecutive patients who underwent transrectal ultrasonography （TRUS） and prostate biopsies between January 2005 and January 2008. Based on the biopsy findings,patients were divided into benign prostatic hyperplasia and PCa groups. TRUS was used to detect prostatic calculi and to measure prostate *** correlations between PCa risk and age,serum total PSA levels,prostate volume,and prostatic calculi were analyzed. Patient age and PSA,as well as the frequency of prostatic calculi in the biopsy specimens,differed significantly between both the groups （P〈0.05）. In the PCa group,the Gleason scores （GSs） were higher in patients with prostatic calculi than in patients without prostatic calculi （P = 0.023）. Using multivariate logistic regression analysis,we found that patient age,serum total PSA and prostate volume were risk factors for PCa （P = 0.001）,but that the presence of prostatic calculi was not associated with an increased risk of PCa （P = 0.13）. In conclusion,although the presence of prostatic calculi was not shown to be a risk factor for PCa,prostatic calculi were more common in patients with PCa and were associated with a higher GS among these men.

Clinical significance of surgical resection for hepatocellular carcinoma with portal vein invasion:a nationwide cohort study

VColor^(*):a practical approach for coloring large graphs

Graph coloring has a wide range of real world applications,such as in the operations research,communication network,computational biology and compiler optimization *** our recent work[1],we propose a divide-andconquer approach for graph coloring,called *** an approach has three generic subroutines.(i)Graph partition subroutine:VColor partitions a graph G into a vertex cut partition(VP),which comprises a vertex cut component(VCC)and small non-overlapping connected components(CCs).(ii)Component coloring subroutine:VColor colors the VCC and the CCs by efficient algorithms.(iii)Color combination subroutine:VColor combines the local colors by exploiting the maximum matchings of color combination bigraphs(CCBs).VColor has revealed some major bottlenecks of efficiency in these ***,in this paper,we propose VColor^(*),an approach which addresses these efficiency bottlenecks without using more colors both theoretically and *** technical novelties of this paper are the following.(i)We propose the augmented VP to index the crossing edges of the VCC and the CCs and propose an optimized CCB construction algorithm.(ii)For sparse CCs,we propose using a greedy coloring algorithm that is of polynomial time complexity in the worst case,while preserving the approximation ratio.(iii)We propose a distributed graph coloring *** extensive experimental evaluation on real-world graphs confirms the efficiency of VColor^(*).In particular,VColor^(*)is 20X and 50X faster than VColor and uses the same number of colors with VColor on the Pokec and PA datasets,***^(*)also significantly outperforms the state-ofthe-art graph coloring methods.

Monocyte/macrophage lineage cells are highly plastic and can differentiate into various cells under different environmental stimuli. Bone-resorbing osteoclasts are derived from the monocyte/macrophage lineage in response to receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL). However, the epigenetic signature contributing to the fate commitment of monocyte/macrophage lineage differentiation into human osteoclasts is largely unknown. In this study, we identified RANKL-responsive human osteoclast-specific superenhancers (SEs) and SE-associated enhancer RNAs (SE-eRNAs) by integrating data obtained from ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, nuclear RNA-seq and PRO-seq analyses. RANKL induced the formation of 200 SEs, which are large clusters of enhancers, while suppressing 148 SEs in macrophages. RANKL-responsive SEs were strongly correlated with genes in the osteoclastogenic program and were selectively increased in human osteoclasts but marginally presented in osteoblasts, CD4+ T cells, and CD34+ cells. In addition to the major transcription factors identified in osteoclasts, we found that BATF binding motifs were highly enriched in RANKL-responsive SEs. The depletion of BATF1/3 inhibited RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation. Furthermore, we found increased chromatin accessibility in SE regions, where RNA polymerase ii was significantly recruited to induce the extragenic transcription of SE-eRNAs, in human osteoclasts. Knocking down SE-eRNAs in the vicinity of the NFATc1 gene diminished the expression of NFATc1, a major regulator of osteoclasts, and osteoclast differentiation. Inhibiting BET proteins suppressed the formation of some RANKL-responsive SEs and NFATc1-associated SEs, and the expression of SE-eRNA:NFATc1. Moreover, SE-eRNA:NFATc1 was highly expressed in the synovial macrophages of rheumatoid arthritis patients exhibiting high-osteoclastogenic potential. Effect of itopride, a new prokinetic, in patients with mild GERD: A pilot study

AIM： Itopride is a newly developed prokinetic agent, which enhances gastric motility through both antidopaminergic and anti-acetylcholinesterasic actions. The importance of esophageal motor dysfunction in the pathogenesis of gastro-esophageal reflux disease （GERD） makes it interesting to examine the effect of itopride on esophageal acid ***： The effect of itopride on esophageal acid reflux variables for 24 h was studied in 26 patients with GERD symptoms, pre-entry total acid exposure time （pH〈4） of more than 5% and mild esophagitis （SavaryMiller grades I, ii） proven by endoscopy. Ambulatory 24hpH-metry and symptom assessment were performed after treatments with 150 or 300 mg itopride thrice a day （t.i.d.） for 30 d in random order, using an open label *** evaluating the safety of itopride, blood biochemical laboratory test was performed and the serum prolactin level was also examined before and after ***： Total symptom score was significantly decreased after treatment in 150- or 300-mg group. Itopride 300 mg was significantly effective than 150 mg on decreasing the total per cent time with pH〈4, total time with pH〈4 and DeMeester score. No serious adverse effects were observed with administration of itopride in both ***： Itopride 100 mg t.i.d, is effective on decreasing pathologic reflux in patient with GERD and therefore it has the potential to be effective in the treatment of this disease.

Design of ADCS for Efficient Meter Data Collection and Management

ADCS （automated data collection system） is the element of MDMS （meter data management system） and a module in charge of collecting the data from DCUs （data collection units） or meters in AMI （advanced metering infrastructure）-based interactive two-way communications infrastructure. In this study, ADCS＇s functions for K-AMI （Korean Advanced Metering Infrastructure） were analyzed and the logical design of ADCS which is suitable for the requirements was suggested. A massive data collection and management functions was defined as very important functions of ADCS to meet optimal data processing mechanism. ADCS was designed for support about the fuctions of data collection and transfer, large capacity data processing, interactive services, parallel processing, etc.. Also, ADCS has roles of protocols exchange and gateway for service support in addition to data collection in AMI environment.

Proportion and clinical features of never-smokers with non-small cell lung cancer

Background: The proportion of never?smokers with non?small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) is increasing, but that in Korea has not been well addressed in a large population. We aimed to evaluate the proportion and clinical features of never?smokers with NSCLC in a large single ***: We analyzed clinical data of 1860 consecutive patients who were newly diagnosed with NSCLC between June 2011 and December ***: Of the 1860 NSCLC patients, 707(38.0%) were never?smokers. The proportions of women(83.7% vs. 5.6%) and adenocarcinoma(89.8% vs. 44.9%) were higher among never?smokers than among ever?smokers. Significantly more never?smokers were diagnosed at a younger median age(65 vs. 68 years, P ii, 44.5% vs. 38.9%, P < 0.001) a= 0.015) compared with ever?smokers. Epidermal growth factor receptor mutations(57.8% vs. 24.4%, Pnd anaplastic lymphoma kinase rearrangements(7.8% vs. 2.8%, P < 0.001) were more common in never?smokers, whereas Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog mutations(5.8% vs. 9.6%, P ntly encountered in never?smokers than in ever?smokers. Never?smokers showed longer su= 0.021) were less frequervival after adjust?ing for the favorable effects of younger age, female sex, adenocarcinoma histology, better performance status, early stage disease, being asymptomatic at diagnosis, received antitumor treatment, and the presence of driver mutations(hazard ratio, 0.624; 95% confidence interval, 0.460–0.848; P = 0.003).Conclusions: More than one?third of the Korean patients with NSCLC were never?smokers. NSCLC in never?smokers had different clinical characteristics and major driver mutations and resulted in longer overall survival compared with NSCLC in ever?smokers.
