Either cetuximab or bevacizumab can improve the survival of patients with metastastic colorectal cancer (mCRC) if administered combided with cytotoxic agents. However, the effect of two or more target agents in combination is uncertain in these patients. Here, we reported a patient with mCRC successfully treated by a combination of target agents after the failure of chemotherapy. The patient received palliative resection of primary tumor followed by 9 cycles of postoperative XELOX regimen, cytokine-induced killer cell (CIK)-based biotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine, particle implantation in the lung metastatic lesions. The tumor progressed 2. months after the standard treatments. Then, the regimen cetuximab, bevacizumab and cefitinib was applied. During the treatment with targeted agents, grade IV acne-like rash and relatively severe parionychia of the toes occurred. Both of them recovered smoothly. The PET-CT reexamination at 40 days after the target treatment showed that the metabolism of mediastinal lymph nodes basically recovered to a normal level. The combination of multiple targeted agents obtained a progression-free survival(PFS) of 11 months and the patient with a good quality of life during this period.

Transfer RNAs(tRNAs) hold a central place in protein synthesis by interpreting the genetic information stored in DNA into the amino acid sequence of protein,thus functioning as "adaptor" *** recent years,however,various studies have shown that tRNAs have additional functions beyond participating in protein *** suffering from certain nutritional stresses,tRNAs change the level of aminoacylation to became uncharged,and these uncharged tRNAs act as effector molecules to regulate global gene expression,so that the stressed organism copes with the adverse environmental *** budding yeast and certain mammalian cells,the retrograde movement of mature tRNAs from cytoplasm to nucleus serves as a mechanism for the surveillance system within the nucleus to continue monitoring the integrity of *** the other hand,this retrograde action effectively reduces the global protein synthesis level under conditions of nutritional *** recently,various publications have shown that tRNAs are not stable molecules in an absolute *** certain physiological or environmental stresses,they are specifically cleaved into fragments of different lengths in the anticodon loop or anticodon left *** cleavages are not a meaningless random degradation ***,a novel class of signal molecules such as tRNA halves or sitRNAs may be produced,which are closely correlated with the modulation of global gene *** of the regulatory functions of tRNAs is a frontier,which seeks to reveal the structural and functional diversity of tRNAs as well as their vital functions during the expression of genetic information.

The purpose of this study was to estimate the spatial and temporal variation of microalgae in the South china Sea and to demonstrate the environmental factors controlling the diversity of microalgae by GIS (geographic information system)-based analysis of 18S rDNA sequences. Six 18S rDNA libraries were constructed from environmental samples collected at different sites in the study area, and more than 600 18S rDNA sequences were determined. The rDNA sequence data were then analyzed by DIVA-GIS software to display the spatial and temporal variation of phytoplankton’s composition. It was shown that the autotrophic eukaryotic plankton dominated over the heterotrophic cells in most of our clone libraries, and the dominating phytoplankton was Dinophyceae except for Bacillariophyta at the Xiamen harbor. The percentages of these two groups were controlled by water temperature and salinity. Our results also revealed that the species composition of Chlorophyta showed a close relationship with latitude, changing from Prasinophyceae at the high latitude to Trebouxiophyceae at the low latitude. Several newly classified picoplankton lineages were first uncovered in the South china Sea, including the pico-sized green alga Ostreococcus sp. and Picochlorum eukaryotum, and picobiliphytes, which was just discovered in 2.07 with unknown affinities to other eukaryotes. Their spatial and temporal variation were also analyzed and discussed.

Studying the relationship between ionic interactions and salt solubility in seawater has implications for seawater desalination and mineral *** this paper,a new method of expressing ion-to-ion interaction is proposed by using molecular dynamics simulation,and the relationship between ion-to-ion interaction and salt solubility in a simulated seawater water-salt system is *** analyzing the variation of distance and contact time between ions in an electrolyte solution,from both spatial and temporal perspectives,new parameters were proposed to describe the interaction between ions:interaction distance(ID),and interaction time ratio(ITR).The best correlation between characteristic time ratio and solubility was found for a molar ratio of salt-to-water of 10:100 with a correlation coefficient of *** the same salt,a positive correlation was found between CTR and the molar ratio of salt and *** type 1-1,type 2.1,type 1-2.and type 2.2.salts,the correlation coefficients between CTR and solubility were 0.93,0.96,0.92.and 0.98 for a salt-to-water molar ratio of 10:100,*** solubility of multiple salts was predicted by simulations and compared with experimental values,yielding an average relative deviation of 12.4%.The new ion-interaction parameters offer significant advantages in describing strongly correlated and strongly hydrated electrolyte solutions.

The Visual Deprivation and Increase in Axial Length in Patients with Cataracts

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between axial myopia and visual deprivation in patients with cataracts in their ***: Forty myopic eyes of 2. cases had long deprivation of form vision due to cataracts during their youth. The axial length was measured by A-Scan ***: The axial length is 2.6mm (mean: 3. 7mm) longer than the other eyes in 10 patients with unilateral cataracts. Fifteen cases with bilateral cataracts had 2.-2.mm of axial length (mean of the right eyes 2.-8mm and the left eyes: 2.. 7mm). Six cases with unilateral cataract had traumatic histotry at age from 2.9 years (mean: 5. 1 years) and the duration of visual deprivation due to cataract was from 8 to 30 years (mean; 12.years). Thirteen cases with dilateral congenital cataract had 17- 4 years(from 3 to 37 years) of visual deprivation. Concusion: The deprivation of form vision due to cataracts in childhood leads to in crease in axial length and myopia. Eye Science 1996; 12. 135- 137.

Additives were used to increase gas hydrate formation rate and storage capacity. Experimental tests of methane hydrate formation were carried out in surfactant water solutions in a high-pressure *** dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and alkyl polysaccharide glycoside (APG) were used to increase hydrate formation. The effect of SDS on hydrate formation is more pronounced compared APG. Cyclopentane (CP) also improves hydrate formation rates while it cannot increase methane gas storage capacity.

Purpose: To measure episcleral venous pressure (EVP) in normal Chinese people. Methods: EVP was measured in 110 eyes of 74 subjects distributed in seven age groups from 10 to 80 years using episcleral venomanometer (EV-310). The differences in EVP values were analyzed with age and either ***: EVP values of the 110 eyes appeared as normal distribution. The value x±SD was (9. 11±1. 2.) mmHg, and the 95% normal value range was 6. 73 mmHg ~ 11. 50 mmHg. No statistically significant difference of EVP was found in the seven age groups. And there was no statistically significant difference of EVP between the right and left eyes. Conclusions: The value x ?SD of EVP in Chinese normal eyes is 9. 11 mmHg±1.2. mmHg. The normal value of EVP does not vary with age and either eye. Eye Science 2.00; 16: 172. 175.

Launching and recovering human-occupied vehicles(HOVs)has always been a challenging *** current recovery process requires staff to manually complete the tethering task,which is inefficient and endangers the lives of *** paper suggests moving the recovery position from the surface to underwater at approximately half the wavelength of the water depth(30−50 m underwater),where the HOV experiences less environmental *** ROV equipped with a ultra-short baseline beacon(USBL)and a manipulator was used to complete the tethering ***,a shackle customized to the shape of the manipulator’s gripper is fitted to the end of the cable to simplify the tethering *** investigate the dynamic response of recovering the HOV using this suggested method,a comprehensive numerical model is developed in this *** effects of wind,surface waves,ocean currents,and nonlinear interaction between the installation vessel and the HOV are quantitatively *** results show that the proposed recovery method can reduce the motion amplitude of the HOV and that the wave has the greatest influence on the dynamic response of the HOV during the recovery *** model provides better insight into the proposed HOV recovery method and confirms the effectiveness of the heave compensation *** proposed approach aims to enhance safety and operational efficiency by reducing direct human involvement in the recovery process and mitigating potential *** finding holds particular significance,especially in environmentally sensitive areas,where reducing the impact on the surrounding ecosystem is crucial.

A Study on the Compliance of the Patients with Ocular Fundus Diseases

Purpose: To investigate the compliance of the patients with ocular fundus diseases with recommendation for follow-up examination after laser treatment, and the underlying reasons for ***: 53 patients with ocular fundus disease were asked to fill in a questionnaire which includes the socio-demographic characteristics, fear of the fundus disease, conception of the laser treatment and the motivation for staying healthy. Variables were compared for the compliers group and the non-compliers group by chi-square test. Result; Of the 53 subjects, 35 were classified as non-compliers and 18 were classified as compliers. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups on all selected socio-demographic factors, conception of the laser treatment and the motivation for staying healthy. Significant difference was found between the two groups on two of those items concerning the fear of the diseases (P<0. 05). About half of the participants showed the lack of knowledge
