Calibration of CO and CO₂ Monitors Used in Periodic Inspection of Vehicles at Fixed Stations for Environmental Control

Global efforts for environmental cleanliness through the control of gaseous emissions from vehicles are gaining momentum and attracting increasing attention. Calibration plays a crucial role in these efforts by ensuring the quantitative assessment of emissions for informed decisions on environmental treatments. This paper describes a method for the calibration of CO/CO2 monitors used for periodic inspections of vehicles in cites. The calibration was performed in the selected ranges: 900 - 12,000 µmol/mol for CO and 2000 - 20,000 µmol/mol for CO2. The traceability of the measurement results to the SI units was ensured by using certified reference materials from CO/N2 and CO2/N2 primary gas mixtures. The method performance was evaluated by assessing its linearity, accuracy, precision, bias, and uncertainty of the calibration results. The calibration data exhibited a strong linear trend with R² values close to 1, indicating an excellent fit between the measured values and the calibration lines. Precision, expressed as relative standard deviation (%RSD), ranged from 0.48 to 4.56% for CO and from 0.97 to 3.53% for CO2, staying well below the 5% threshold for reporting results at a 95% confidence level. Accuracy measured as percent recovery, was consistently high (≥ 99.1%) for CO and ranged from 84.90% to 101.54% across the calibration range for CO2. In addition, the method exhibited minimal bias for both CO and CO2 calibrations and thus provided a reliable and accurate approach for calibrating CO/CO2 monitors used in vehicle inspections. Thus, it ensures the effectiveness of exhaust emission control for better environment.

Tuberculous esophagomediastinal fistula with concomitant mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm-acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding: A case report

BACk.ROUND Esophagomediastinal fistula is a very rare complication of tuberculosis in otherwise healthy adults, and mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm is even rarer. In this case report, we describe a rare case of tuberculosis complication that presented with acute upper gastrointestinal(GI) bleeding. It also highlights the benefits of chest computed tomography(CT) as an excellent adjunct diagnostic tool to endoscopy and bronchoscopy and the role of trans-arterial embolization as a minimal invasive therapy alternative to *** SUMMARY A 19-year-old medically free male patient presented with acute multiple episodes of hematemesis for 1 d. Upper GI endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and chest CT with IV contrast confirmed esophagomediastinal fistula with mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm. After resuscitating patient with IV fluid and blood product transfusion, trans catheter embolization was performed for mediastinal bronchial artery *** We successfully treated a patient with acute upper GI bleeding due to tuberculous esophagomediastinal fistula and mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm using transcatheter coil embolization.

Nowadays,the COVID-19 virus disease is spreading *** are some testing tools and k.ts available for diagnosing the virus,but it is in a lim-ited *** diagnose the presence of disease from radiological images,auto-mated COVID-19 diagnosis techniques are *** enhancement of AI(Artificial Intelligence)has been focused in previous research,which uses X-ray images for detecting *** most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever,dry cough and sore *** symptoms may lead to an increase in the rigorous type of pneumonia with a severe *** medical imaging is not suggested recently in Canada for critical COVID-19 diagnosis,computer-aided systems are implemented for the early identification of COVID-19,which aids in noticing the disease progression and thus decreases the death ***,a deep learning-based automated method for the extraction of features and classi-fication is enhanced for the detection of COVID-19 from the images of computer tomography(CT).The suggested method functions on the basis of three main pro-cesses:data preprocessing,the extraction of features and *** approach integrates the union of deep features with the help of Inception 14 and VGG-16 *** last,a classifier of Multi-scale Improved ResNet(MSI-ResNet)is developed to detect and classify the CT images into unique labels of *** the support of available open-source COVID-CT datasets that consists of 760 CT pictures,the investigational validation of the suggested method is *** experimental results reveal that the proposed approach offers greater performance with high specificity,accuracy and sensitivity.

Can Left Pleural Effusion Be an Indicator of Gastric Leak. after Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy?

Back.round: Coincidental pleural effusion has been observed by computed tomography (CT) scans in individual patients with gastric leak. after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy;however, the frequency of this phenomenon has not been investigated in cohort studies. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of left pleural effusion as an indicator of gastric leak. after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Setting: University hospital and bariatric surgery center of excellence. Methods: This single-center retrospective analysis included consecutive patients who had undergone laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy followed by CT scans to investigate suspected gastric leak. from September 2011 to September 2018. The sensitivity, specificity, Youden’s index, and predictive values were estimated using a 2 × 2 cross-tabulation. Results: The study involved assessing the CT scans of 148 patients;80 patients (44 men and 36 women, mean age: 34 years, mean body mass index {BMI}: 46 k./m2) had positive findings of gastric leak. after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, such as contrast leak. gas leak. and peri-gastric collection (either singly or in combination). The CT findings were negative for gastric leak. in 68 patients (38 men and 30 women, mean age: 33 years, mean BMI: 45 k./m2). Pleural effusion manifested as a fluid density in the dependent portion of pleural cavity on CT. The sensitivity of left pleural effusion to predict gastric leak. after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy was 73.8%, and the specificity was 91.2%. The positive and negative predictive values were 90.8% and 74.7%, respectively, and the Youden’s index was 64.9%. Conclusion: Left pleural effusion exhibits good diagnostic accuracy for gastric leak. after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Notably, the specificity (91.2%) was very high.

Percutaneous CT-Guided Drainage of Gastric Leak. Post-Sleeve Gastrectomy

Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the safety and efficacy of percutaneous CT-guided drainage of gastric leak. post sleeve gastrectomy. Methods: For this single-center retrospective study, we reviewed the clinical data of 78 patients (44 men and 34 women with an average age of 34.6 ±10.5 years and a body mass index (BMI) of 45 k./m2 ±3.2) that underwent percutaneous CT-guided drainage of gastric leak. due to sleeve gastrectomy from September 2011 to September 2018. The outcome measurements were technical and clinical success, complications, and the need for revisional surgery. Results: The technical success rate of drain insertion was 97.5% (76/78 patients). All of the patients (76/76 patients) exhibited early clinical and laboratory improvement, and no emergency surgery was required. However, six patients underwent revisional surgery after 3 - 5 months for non-healing gastric leak./fistulas. One patient had a major complication of active bleeding due to arterial injury;this was managed by transcatheter coil embolization. All patients underwent endoluminal stent placement and received antimicrobial therapy and nutritional support. Conclusion: Percutaneous CT-guided drainage of gastric leak. after sleeve gastrectomy is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive alternative to surgery. This technique is in line with other conservative measures (endoluminal stent placement, antimicrobial therapy, and nutritional support), which heal most gastric leak. due to sleeve gastrectomy and prevent the need for revisional surgery.

Occupational Stress, Coping Strategies, and Quality of Life among Nurses in General and Psychiatric Setting in Jeddah City—k.A

Purpose: This study is aimed at comparing the level of occupational stress, ways of coping and the quality of life among nurses. Methods: Descriptive explanatory design was used with 278 nurses work.ng in k.ng Abdul Aziz Hospital in Jeddah, Mental Health Hospital in Jeddah, and Dr. Suleiman Fak.eh Hospital in Jeddah. Findings: Psychiatric nurses experience greater occupational stress than general nurses (p = 0.001). There was no statistically significant difference between the psychiatric and general nurses in relation to coping strategies (p = 0.38). Conclusion: Healthcare institutions should adapt stress evaluation and coping models specific to their unit. Practical Implication: Implementation of programs in each healthcare unit to educate nurses how to deal with work.stressors and their negative effects.

Web Based Survey of Adult Population of West and Central Saudi Arabia about Cause and Management of k.ratoconus

Back.round: k.ratoconus (k.) causes visual disability in young adults. To improve its early detection and compliance, improving the awareness of patients and their relatives is crucial. We present the level of awareness about k. among the adult population of western Saudi Arabia and its determinants. Methods: This web-based survey was carried out from June to August 2020 in urban and semi-urban areas in western Saudi Arabia. Demographic and eye ailment profiles were collected. To generate responses on the presentation, causes, management and prevention of k., a five-point Lik.rt scale was used. The logit values were calculated and graded into good and poor awareness. Awareness was associated with other determinants. Results: We surveyed 420 Saudi adults. The median logit score of awareness about k. among participants was 2.86 (inter quartile range (IQR) 0.86;2.95). The median score of k.owledge about the causes and presentation of k. was 2.86 (IQR 1.1;2.86) and for management, it was 0.00 (IQR 0.00;0.18). The level of awareness was good in 286 participants (68.1%) and poor in 134 (31.9%). Residents of major cities (P k.. k.owledge about k. mainly came from friends and reading about it. The mass media and social media were rarely used to seek.k.owledge. Conclusions: Awareness about the presentation, causes and management of k. was good in two-thirds of adults but with some variation. Strategies to involve the community and stress health education need to be urgently implemented. Campaigns should target the male and semi-urban population in western Saudi Arabia.
